I do wish you WOULD stand for truth! hAnd to discuss intelligently with a goal of truthfully learning about God.

There are many pros and cons to what Constantine did, but there are no pros and cons to what God is about.

You seem to have read something about Constantine, but only the good things that God used him for. In order to learn history as it happened or to read about a person's life work it cannot be a white washed history and it cannot be only the blackest part of his life.

My report of history only had to do with his changing how the Lord asks us to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. I do not think it is right for you to take these simple facts to make it into a way to be personal, to call me a liar or any of the other personal putdowns you are making. This should be a discussion of scripture and history. I rounded off numbers, you made it into something WAY beyond rounding off. The Nicene Council lasted three years, you have used this to insinuate how smart you are and dumb I am. It is not right how you are posting. It goes a long way beyond saying only one side of what Constantine did should ever be written of.

What history? You have not posted a single link, book or anything else proving your nonsense. You had the wrong date from the OP. By 300 years! Plus, all you did was sweepingly condemn Constantine and his Councils. You didn't give one fact, you didn't say one thing to substantiate your sweeping generalities.

I have no doubt, as. Roman emperor and general, Constantine did some bad things. I'm sure they are in the history books.

But the topic here was "worshipping idols at Easter" more or less.

You have not cited one thing that stands out as an "idol" that people are worshipping. Everyone here understands that Easter is about celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Have you gone so far, that you do not believe in him anymore? Or that he was just a man?

Until you bring out some facts, and their sources, even RCC ones, this conversation is over. You have proven yourself to have not a clue about history, to say nothing of theology.

Maybe you are not the person I thought you were. Maybe you are a troll, or the aide who was helping my friend and took over her account. I didn't agree with that person's Hebrew Roots nonsense, but she was a nice person and she was my friend. Pardon me for thinking you were someone you are not!

So for someone to come off and say we are practicing a pagan holiday is pretty much off his/her rocker
Challenge for ya bud... post up some scripture verses from the New Testament that instructs Christians to celebrate "Easter" with bunny rabbits that lay eggs.

I'll bet'cha you cannot find any instruction from the Lord concerning this or Christmas for that matter.

In the Lord's eyes, His people should celebrate His birth and resurrection EVERY DAY not just once a year where people get all religious and start talking perpendicular
I know if I see a bunny rabbit laying eggs, I'm going to beat him with my baseball bat

all you did was sweepingly condemn Constantine and his Councils
Yes he did... good job!

This is how we got the rcc... with the blood of the saints running out her mouth!

Celebrate Easter, or don't celebrate Easter. Celebrate it one particular way, celebrate it another particular way, or celebrate it not at all. Celebrate it on one particular day, every day, or never days. Celebrate it by eating a ham, a lamb, or bunnies, or even nothing at all.

It really does not matter either way according to my Bible.

Colossians 2:16

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

Scfripture tells us in John 14:23 If any one loves me he will keep my word.

Post after post is nsaying to ignore the word about celebrating the resurection. If it is pointed out tyat eggs, bunnies, and Easter baskets are celebratomg tje ferto;otu gpddess ot os saod tjat bas been Christianized so now it is celebrating rebitrth. Even thouh there are no instructions given us to celebrate Easter, not even a mention of that name except when the . ''KJV translated the word for Passover as Easter.

I see no posters at all interested in learning how and why the celebration of Easter began. I have been personaly attacted and put down royally for mentioning it.

Now it is brought out that it really doesn't matter to God. Perhaps God was just blowing in gthe wind when we were instructed?

OOps, lots of fingers in the wrong placers. It should be Easter baskets are celebrating the fertility goddess, and that celebration has been Christianized so now it is celebrating rebirth.

I have lots of typos, hope you can read it.

It is written a man cuts down a tree. He uses some of it for firewood to warm himself. He uses some of it to cook. He takes what is left over and carves out a figure to his liking and bows down to it, making it his god.

In processions here where I live, the local RCC assemblies are having what is called processions
hauling hçout carvings of saints, what they imagine Jesus looks like, and the same with Mary.

Although this day is a joyous memorial of the triumph of Jesus christ, I have wept because of people paying hommage to these images and kneeling down to them. The images are decked out in jewels and clothing most cannot affort to have nor can they purchase with all their savings. It is very sad, and has nothing to do with the Written Word except to those passages warning against such actions.

It is a very clever and diabolical ruse on the people to train them to bow dfown to carved images on procession days while most of the churches here are empy on Sundays, and most are closed during the week these days.

Baruch atah elohanu adonoi ve rak benach Yeshua Mashiach, amen.

How did Jude, Paul, James, Luke, John, Peter of whom all had over 200 years of combined teaching yet somehow miss these mysterious holly days such as Easter and Xmas...The Christmas Catholic thing I never understood in that they supposedly celebrate the birth of Jesus by saying "Merry murder of Christ"? quite strange indeed..

Never seen any of CC's catholics say that... nor have I heard it said during the few Catholic services I attended during Christmas or Easter. you sure you aren't looking for facts on a "Catholics are heathens that wll burn in hell" - website? Most of CC seems to think that way.

In brief the Word teaches to never exchange the Holy Spirit for a piece of wood, no matter how pretty it may seem.

Well this morning my son went and found a bunch of eggs and he found an easter basket. That pesky heathen Easter Bunny did it again. I've prayed over my home so that Easter Bunny wouldn't return but he just keeps a coming. My son did enjoy his egg hunting and the batman headphones he got. I'm sure glad at 7 years old he understands today is about our Lord and Savior and that He defeated death. And my son had a little fun with celebrating the true meaning of Easter.

Happy Easter/Resurrection Day. God Bless all of you and don't worry about the silly stuff.

as long as folks do not confuse the easter bunny and santa clause with the reality of faith in the Only Son of God..no problem, but to teach Santa Claus has anything at all to do with the birth of our Savior, or an Oestra Bunny has anything to do with His victory ofer death for all who believe is just a shame, and not of God.

Oestra a German goddess of fertility, ergo the eggs, from which the word Easter is derived....

I'm not saying you are completely wrong, but the tradition and name seems to come from quite a few pagan traditions. And they all seem to have the same time frame for the set traditions and it is in March I believe.

Yes, scripture does not tell us how to celebrate Easter or speak of it. We should do away with this day on which we remember that He rose. Therefore, we should not ever celebrate anyones birthday either because scripture doesn't tell us to do this or how to do it. And we should insist to work on Presidents Day since it isn't in scripture. And we shouldn't drive cars because they aren't mentioned in scripture.

If someone began celebrating this day in order to worship eggs (don't know if they did or not but it sounds bizarre to me) should I stop honoring God and rejoicing that Christ rose from the grave and refuse to do that on this day? Follow your own conscience and if for conscience sake you feel you cannot rejoice on this day that Christ is alive because to do so would be evil or would lead others astray, then don't do it. I do not feel a twinge of conscience that I might lead someone astray for rejoicing that He is alive. I don't think my rejoicing that He is alive will lead anyone astray. I can't help it, my conscience is just not bothered. Too busy rejoicing. :)
