If Calvin is accursed, ain't we all? Last I checked, the only words we know for sure that God agrees with are in the Bible, not in any given person's teaching. They were canonized and confirmed to be THE trusted words of God. "Inspired." "God breathed."

I do study the scripture by reading lots of scholars ideas that they get from reading the same verses. Sometimes they're wrong. I don't dismiss everyone simply because they're wrong, or there is no one else to listen to, including myself.

A bit arrogant to think any given scholar has to be right 100% of the time to pass your litmus test, isn't it? Especially given you just said, "if I'm wrong." So, you acknowledge the possibility that you might be wrong, but are worthy of listening to, but no one else? Or should I just call you accursed when you are wrong too?

(Do I need to warn you at any given point that I go with common sense AND logic, or did I just prove that I do? Because, honestly? You're so busy trying to prove you're right you forgot both concepts somewhere along the line, or simply that we're supposed to be coming up with what God said, not what we feel.)
The issue about being a false teacher is ALL ABOUT teaching a false gospel, not getting some portion of doctrine wrong. I to study and listen to others, others I don't 100% agree with, but one deal breaker should be is adding to or taking away from the gospel of Jesus Christ. If a teacher perverts the gospel, do you still listen to that teacher?

There are some Calvinist who preach good stuff. That is not a deal breaker for me. Most still believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ that saves. As a maturing believer, I can overlook their doctrine on election and glean some good stuff on other topics.

Okay, so as "a maturing believer" you can overlook that thingy in God's word that says he elects? And yet Calvin has the false gospel?

Deal breaker by your own words, since you just took away from THE gospel!

You're right. It's time to stop listening to you.

See? Even you get some stuff right.

More and more I'm finding Biblical Christians to be in the middle between Calvinism and Arminianism. We can affirm God's sovereignty while also affirming man's full ability. No need to raise up a theological construct.

But it's in the way people define "God's sovereignty". A calvinist would claim God decides every action, every event and has worked out all things ahead of time. A non-calvinist like myself(not arminian either), would say that God is in full control over all things, but leaves personal decisions to man. In the end, the Lord wins either way.

The reformers held to a non-literal view of the word thousand, as Amil ( no literal thousand years).. Rather than taking 1000 as a literal number, looking to the symbolism of what I believe John is hoping to represent.

The word thousand is used as a metaphor through the scripture to represent an unknown of whatever is in view, to include the use of time in years. A proper understanding as to how the word thousand is used can determine the outcome.

Remembering that John is attempting to describe with words not only what he saw in his visions from God, but also the "sense or meaning of it". The language of Revelation is signified by his angel unto his servant John. Signified is from where we get the word semantics (a mark, of uncertain derivation) as signs spoken of in parables.

Seeing without signifying, Jesus spoke in parables in order to hide the spiritual meaning from one while freely giving the understandings of the other. This would be in respect to who has been given the spiritual ears to hear. Let him hear what the Spirit says to the believer.

This leads him to use symbolism , (to signify) to get at the deeper meaning— if not, for instance... what would we make of the image of Jesus as a lamb with seven eyes who roars like a lion who sits on the circle of the earth and its inhabitants are like grass hoppers.

I would suggest one ask themselves what does 1000 symbolize when used in parables? 10 represents completeness; 3 is a divine number to represent the end of the matter . 10 multiplied by itself 3 times is 1000.

But we ought not to be afraid of the good news in Revelation 20.1-6. No matter what view on the thousand year reign a person holds to,

The Amil position works the best for me when trying to reconcile the end time events. Although my home church(Plymouth brethren) Where I was given a desire to study the word of God according to the pastor who loved the word of God that I did attend for 25 years. It does teach dispensation with Premillennialism as their choice. You could say followers of Darby and Margret McDonald who says she a had a direct vision from God.This is in spite of the fact God is no longer adding to his book of prophecy .
