I intentionally say some things in a messed up way. I don't know why.

Sandwich = sammich

Tacos = tachos (tah-chos)

Shrimp = skrimp

Lots of other stuff too. When I type, I notice I still have an enormous problem with the whole "i before e except after c" My spell checker goes off quite a bit on certain words.

This sounds gastronomically correct.

Strangest thing I ever heard, was a number of years ago when I
visited London.

At one point I ended up in a cheap and cheerful street cafe. On the menu was
various types of meat pies with mash and liquor!

Well i knew mash was mashed potato, but liquor? I had never heard of a pint of
beer poured over mashed potato.

It turned out to be the local description for parsley sauce. :confused:

Maybe it was fermented parsley sauce. Might be good over crushed ice. Best to sip with a tiny straw.

Another one from my own background: "I'm a teacher!" Then proceeds to write like a teenager full of misspellings and teen like phonics. "ughh yea i did! cuz ur totes lik dat!"

At least make some effort.

I'm always confused as to where the words "affect"and "effect" are used because the meanings are so similar.

This is how I keep them separated in my head:

Affect (verb): To have an influence on or to produce a change in someone or something
Effect (verb): To bring about a change or a result
Effect (noun): The change that results
Affect (noun): This one is a little obscure, but it is related to the word "affection"

In psychology, "affect" is usually a feeling or state, and sometimes is described as positive (e.g. happiness) or negative (e.g. anger).

You can keep all that in your head? :eek: I can barely remember my own phone number...

Some of my grammar pet peeves:

Using the word "less" to mean "fewer"
Saying "for all intensive purposes"
Pronouncing "contra" and "intro" as "conner" and "inner"
Using "alibi" to mean "excuse" (this one is debatable)
Saying "in lieu of" when you really mean "in light of"

Anyone else got any?

Typing were, when they meant where.

Example.
were are my glasses.
