My grammar is "gooder" than yours.....

Nope they used to say that in KY too. We love the R sound...use a hard R in every thing that has an R and even throw it in words that don't have an R. Like worsh for wash and winder for window...LOL...:)

I agree, YIG. I can overlook grammatical errors in the forums because it's not everyone's schtick. I get that. But I shake my head at the posts riddled with boorish clichés and religious condescending jive talk. It's worse than "diarrhea of the keyboard" because it's intentional. To me, that kinda self-righteous rhetoric is waaay more amateurish and agitating than misspellings and grammar blunders. :rolleyes:

I'm a writer & use a ton of online resources to edit my manuscripts. But as for online forums & such, I'm not that precise. I write on CC like I'm in a normal conversation with folks. Otherwise, I feel I'm coming across all haughty & fake, ya know? :p

"On behalf of" blah blah blah. I hate that. Just shut up and let other people speak for themselves. Another one is, "the truth of the matter is" blah blah blah. Nothing more than an attempt to validate political talking points.

I'm always confused as to where the words "affect"and "effect" are used because the meanings are so similar.
 
I intentionally say some things in a messed up way. I don't know why.

Sandwich = sammich

Tacos = tachos (tah-chos)

Shrimp = skrimp

Lots of other stuff too. When I type, I notice I still have an enormous problem with the whole "i before e except after c" My spell checker goes off quite a bit on certain words.

We don't speak English in America. We speak American. It's as much a goofy mash-up of co-opted things as our "culture" is.

When someone says "they hanged themself". It is HUNG, not hanged. You cannot hanged yourself. But you can HANG yourself.

I mean like on the news, when for example, they found David Carradine hanging in a closet. He was tied up naked and bound, yet they said he "hanged himself".
