I found it rather disturbing and slightly laughable, how many men in the chat rooms decided to send me personal messages, and ask if I was "happily married". Number 1, that's none of their business. Number 2, that's not how you're supposed to act in a CHRISTIAN chat room.
Even though I said I was, they continued to flirt with me. It's safe to say I'm appalled.
Holy crap, sister! That's disgusting. I'm so sorry that you have to put up with creepy men.

The KJV is actually pretty inaccurate as far as English translations go. But it's still the Word of God. More power to you if you enjoy reading it. But if someone says I'm in league with the Enemy for reading non-KJV translations, I will slap them through the phone line. Hard.

When instructor is about to give the topics for the final exam and you are about to write it all down, and he says "Everything we discussed and everything in the book" Ugh.

When you see a thread created by someone you don't know and it's a wall of text, do you first look for replies from people you know and see if they're in agreement before you bother reading OP? Kind of like, if your friend 'liked' this and agrees to this post, must be worth the read, something like that? No? Only I do that? Okay.
I do this too >.>'

The KJV helped a lot with that. I didn't appreciate Shakespeare very much at all when I was younger, mostly because there are a ton of subtle jokes and puns in his plays that require that you know the language he used in order to catch them.

Read through the annotated versions of some classic books. You would be amazed how much of them is just pop-culture references that are totally lost on people today.

"Alright I gotta joke for you guys. What's a pirate's favorite letter?"

"What?"

"Arrrrrrr. Haha!"

"I dunno. You'd think it was R, but the C is their first love."

"Haha, hey that's pretty good."

"But the C is a harsh mistress, and every pirate marks his greatest treasure with an X."

"Alright, alright, you win."

"But even though pirates mark the spot with an X, what they really want is a new i."

"Dude..."

"And while pirates would appreciate a new i, in the end what they really live for is making their enemies walk the h." (Planck's constant)

"I hate you."

This joke was taken verbatim from The Doghouse Diaries, because few people will click on the following link to read it for themselves.

Easily done. Change the first line to "You know how people say a pirate's favorite letter is arrrrrr? Well one would think that, but actually a pirate's first love is the C."

And of course leave out the last one. Few people today know what Planck's Constant is and the joke is not worth the explanation.

I love the KJV! :D It sounds sooo poetic..

I didn't appreciate shakespeare in high school, but now I can thanks to the KJV (I think)..

The KJV stands for the King Jesus Version all other versions are wrong muhahahhahahha......

(yes I know KJV is King James Version and the version I prefer, but for the sake of a joke and stoking the fires of version-ology I said this).....

I beg to differ on the accuracy thing, but you're right. I cannot stand people with that kind of attitude about it.

Unless they think The Message is the greatest translation ever... in which case, we may need to arrange for an exorcism.
