I'm not sure about the twist rate, but Marlin uses their proprietary "Micro-groove" rifling.... lots of shallower grooves, instead of 5 or 6 deeper grooves. Seems to work well with the rimfires.

The faster twist rifling is good for longer bullets, but in 22 rimfires, the bullet weight/twist rates have been pretty much standardized and perfected. The only reason to have a faster twist rate would be if you planned to shoot the heavier sub-sonic 60gr bullets exclusively.

Apparently so.

I found an article where marlin doubled the twist rate on .357 and .41 magnum.

Didn't say much on the .22 except that marlin used to bore a barrel in 15 to 60 minutes and now do it in 15 seconds LOL

That sounds like a fun project. I hope you'll post some pictures when it's done!
There will be pictures. Count on that. I haven't been this excited about a project gun since I put my AR15 together.

I like seeing heavily modded guns (except for heavily modded Glocks). It's cool to see the personal touch people add to them.

The guy who expressed interest in buying my customized Mosin-Nagant has changed his mind. I'm somewhat disappointed. Would have been nice to sell it and funnel the money into the bullpup project. Now it will take much longer.

Singlestack update:

I think today's the day! I tried that Walther PPS M2 and have come to the conclusion that it has the qualities I like in my Glock 19 only in a smaller package.

Pros- Easy slide action, no need for extra materials or tools for takedown. enough weight to handle most 9mm rounds with ease, thin, goldilocks trigger (for CCW), decent factory sights (I won't replace them), not temperamental with most ammo.

Cons- heavy for this type of gun which kind of negates the draw to a single stack. It is heavier than my G19 though I assume the G19 is heavier loaded (twice as many rounds in the mag will do that). The fact it may want me to give up my G19 for a Walther PPQ :p

Price: $450

Verdict: The strongest horse. I found a great deal on a Shield though for $80 less. However the quality of this firearm may make me give up a portion of my food budget.

nvm, I looked at the PPQ dimensions. I get the same firepower and reliability in a more portable package with my G19.

Gaston and his elves really rocked the world back in the 80's.

I looked at a PPS today at lunch, too... It was ok, but the trigger reset was way too long for my tastes. The trigger also finishes the cocking of the striker, which I don't like. My Taurus's all have pretty crisp single action pulls, with a reset at about 1/8", maximum....

Except the TCP, of course... it's a long double action pull, about like a double-action revolver...

The red dot sight for my recent 10/22 rifle build (the one with the Boyd's laminate stock) came in today and is mounted. I now have no excuse to not take it to the range.

Oh I can hardly wait to fill the freezer with bunny meat!

Found a PPS M2 on consignment. It's my new piece for work. Woot.

Thank you all for your assistance in the search. I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Now if you will excuse me I have to take the boys to the range...and come up with a nickname.

Finally managed to sell the Mosin-Nagant rifle. Hope the new owner will be pleased with it.

Now only a month or maybe two at most to get my bullpup project finished. After that I am done for a while. Still wish I could find a gently used Beretta 92 to take the 9mm slot in my safe and get rid of my Glock, but I can do that at some future point.

If it's a Glock 17 or 43, maybe I'll give it a home :p

34 sorry. I decidedly do not like the Glock single stacks.
