If it's physically possible..taking long walks is a good thing to try. At least that's what I do.

That's what I've found the most beneficial. I purposely don't run because I don't want to do damage to my feet and spine either now or in the future. Walking is one of the best exercises a person can do for the health, I do it every chance I get each day, greatest thing for the mind, body and soul alike - I'd recommend it to anyone.

I don't see how one can to for a 40 min walk six times a day either.

Most experts agree that 20 mins of fast walking each day has a good health benefit. That is more within range of what people have time for :)
It's quite reasonable, but I suppose it depends on your chosen vocation. I've always found it quite easy to get up early and have 1.5 hour in the morning and in the evening dedicated to walking, it's excellent for clearing the mind and getting the body ready for the day and winding down. I highly recommend it.

I know you've mentioned in other threads that you're not a morning person and prefer to get up later, conversely I'm an early bird, always have been, so I use that personal trait to build on for my daily workout routine. Works well. Happy cycling.

Sure, I wasn't questioning the morning walks :)

it was more the idea of 6 x 40 mins, which seem difficult to fit into a normal working day. partly because most people don't get to take 40 mins off during work hours, partly because 4 hrs of exercise (unless I miscalculated) a day sounds like a lot of time if people do other things. Then again, I'm lazy :p

I use to go on random 4-6 hours walks through the City but that was when I was unemployed. Not cause I was bored or didn't know how to use the time I thoroughly enjoyed walking through the huge Hagley park which includes a golf course in the city park(Hagley) you see stuff and like laura mentioned its really inspiring/ renewal. However if you have physical ,mental problems I would discourage that long unless you can handle it. It was so cool!

I run, work out and only eat natural foods no crisps or other fake fattening stuff. I work outside a lot which unfortunately most people can't do.

Core workouts and walking.
Yep, you heard it right.
Walking.

Mix those two + a healthy diet and you can get somewhere.

PS - Gym. A bit of stretching and weights can really help your body develop well.

I drink cardamom in hot water and let it soak. -I like the taste of cardamom and the way it gives a little zinger of energy and makes your mouth feel fresh. Sometimes I use cinnamon instead of cardamon.

I take a homemade herbal tea as an immune booster to prevent cold/flu or shorten it's duration.

I use salt, baking soda, water, and peroxide to brush my teeth with once in a while. It helps heal any scrapes or potential infections from rough brushing in the mouth. Not to mention baking soda whitens your teeth very well. (bye potential coffee stains ;)

I eat oatmeal at night time/meal before bed.....helps lower cholesterol and absorb bad stuff like toxins from food.

I use coconut oil for my scalp/hair to help it grow better.

I walk around during break time to get the blood pumping in my legs/body and refresh.

That's about it.

Healthy habits, let's see.... Well I breath every now and then. :)

I was reading an article the other day and it said breathing is good for
you and relaxing. Something to do with your exhale been longer than you
inhale. It said to breath in for 7 counts then exhale for 11 counts for a few minutes
at a time, building up to 5 minutes.

It was an article about natural pain relief for chronic pain. This kind of breathing
supposedly relaxes the body and stimulates blood flow releasing endorphins.

I don't currently have any pain so don't know if it works but the idea of a shorter
inhale and a longer exhale is something I do when I play the saxophone. But I'm
usually too busy playing to notice any health benefit. :)

I always feel content and happy playing so maybe the breathing technique is
part of that. Lol

Oh have just found this as well about breathing to fall asleep, something to do
with better lung efficiency aids sleep.

I can give you all a lot of health advice.

Protein and more Protein.
Nothing processed.
No sugar.
Shop only on the outside edge of the store.
If their is a paragraph of ingredients don't eat it.

Breathing exercises when you wake up and after work. Think of your body as a house that has been closed for months or years. It has that stagnate smell. Your body is the same way. You need to move the air to the floor of your stomach and out until their is nothing left.

Understanding Head brain and Gut Brain.

What does Carl's Daily diet look like?

Breakfast: Two eggs whites, 5grams of Creitine, Multi Vitimin, Fish oil
Snack: Cottage Cheese, blue berries
Lunch: Chicken Breast and Asparagus
Snack: Plain Greek Yogert
Dinner: One or two of Fish, Chicken, or Occasional steak, One of Half of a sweet potato or 1 cup of brown rice or asparagus.

Prework out:
Stretch!
Depending on if I am tired after work. I will take scoop of pre-work out supplement "Savage roar, NO Xplode, Assault or two cups of black coffee until payday.

Get to lifting and no more than 20 min of cardio. My workouts are intense, 2-3 hrs of weights. So this will vary depending on your experience level.

Go home, shower. If I get hungry. I take a scoop or two of protien powder and mix it and off to bed.

Thanks;)

Yeah, this thread makes me feel terrible about how I take care of myself. I'm going to pretend I didn't read this thread and go on about my business.

Hey I was curious, what do you find to be the health benefits on doing this?
Like the title says, what do you consistently do, or at least try to, or want to do that contributes to living a healthy life? Exercise is an example, drinking more than 2 litres of water a day, is another example. I'll start.

---

I mix a tbsp of apple cider vinegar to a 1.7l bottle of water and I drink that like 4-5 times a week. It used to be gross, but now I don't think I can live without it. Lol.

What's yours?

I drink about a gallon a day
Unless you exercise a lot or work in a warm environment you really don't have to drink that much :)
It will just make you have to pee :p
