Re: You struck out....

Rofl, joke is on you. I don't have a smartphone :). Too bad for Einstein his fantasy is still only a theory and that it shall remain because it is a fantasy that depends on other fantasies. But I suppose he won't mind seeing as the dead thinketh no more.

And you don't have a PC, either...

Re: You struck out....

Psalm 113

1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and for evermore.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord's name is to be praised.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]The Lord is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high,
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth!
[SUP]7 [/SUP]He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill;
[SUP]8 [/SUP]That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

So...

If you want the above passage to represent your jacked geocentric worldview....then, logically, you must also be a charter member of the flat-earth society, as scripture clearly states that the earth has four corners...rotflol....!!!

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from
the four corners of the earth. (Isa 11.12)

Well ain't that nice, you're starting to understand reality, science, and The Bible.

Though to be clear I'm not a member of the Flat Earth Society, for they are compromisers to the heretics and pagans.

Though indeed, the earth is not a sphere. Though flat might be a misnomer since it has topography.

Isaiah 40:21-23

[SUP]21 [/SUP]Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
[SUP]22 [/SUP]It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
[SUP]23 [/SUP]That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.

strickly speaking, you're correct, the bible doesn't say.

so, honestly now...
God forming adam as an infant and nursing him till he could care for himself...
does that fit with the tone and theme of the story?

but adam being formed as an infant is still not the earliest possible form of a human... adam could have been formed as a single cell?
The tone and theme are the steps of creation, lacking detail. Chapter 2 of Genesis has more detail of the sixth day, and if its a 24 hour day God sure did pack it with a lot stuff, naming all the animals, God creates Adam's helper; long enough to make Adam feel lonely and say:

“This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.”

Re: Clinic time...

The OT was written in Hebrew....NOT English!

The word in question is hā·‘ar·bā·yim, and it is plural.

Study up...

Not even in English....much less in the Hebrew.

This is what Strong's says:

hā·‘ar·bā·yim — 11 OccurrencesExodus 12:6
HEB: יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בֵּ֥ין הָעַרְבָּֽיִם׃
NAS: of Israel is to kill it at twilight.
KJV: shall kill it in the evening.
INT: of Israel in twilight

Hebrew Concordance: hā·‘ar·bā·yim -- 11 Occurrences

Of course didn't really need that since it is translated properly and has been for a few centuries. (For that matter the translation is older than majority of the old earth/new age mythology).

Pretty sure this be in English from the most orthodox English translation:

Genesis 1

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

[SUP]2 [/SUP]And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And the evening and the morning were the third day.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[SUP]26 [/SUP]And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
[SUP]27 [/SUP]So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
[SUP]28 [/SUP]And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
[SUP]29 [/SUP]And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
[SUP]30 [/SUP]And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
[SUP]31 [/SUP]And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Speaking of book of Exodus though:

Exodus 20:11

[SUP]11[/SUP]For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

So it is pretty clear here the creation took six days, it is very clearly written, no special revelations or interpretations needed.

a day as a thousand years, then also a thousand years as a day.

to me this means:

a thousand years to us passes like a day to God.

a day to us passes like a thousand years to God.

but to me, really, this just asks the question, Is genesis using "God" days, or "human" days?
"thousand days are like a day", I don't take this literally as in 1000=1 day exactly. I believe it simply means God doesn't experience time as we do.

It very well could be God days in Genesis 1, God's work day. God probably did the work in a very short time and then time elapsed until the next day or epoch of time in which God worked again. I'm not so much concerned about it tho, theme is God created and Moses seemed to me to have use a genre of poetry.

I reserve the right to wrong bro, my understanding is limited to my understanding.

true! now, is it possible for a correct interpretation of the scripture to conflict with an incorrect interpretation of data from nature?
Yes and vise versa. An incorrect interpretation of scripture will mostly lead to greater negative/dangerous consequence then a mis-interpretation of nature.

The sixth day was closed, and then the seventh day is mentioned.

Pretty simple.

And on the seventh day God completed His work which He had made. And He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because He rested from all His work on it, which God had created to make. (Gen 2.2 - 3)
yup, I believe we are living in the seventh day, God is calling us to rest with Him in Christ. God will create again, new heavens and earth, this will the the 8th and final day.

A lot of people defer to the 2 Peter 3 quote about a day as a thousand years in an attempt to cling to the old earth mythology. This only proves they did not read the whole chapter. 2 Peter 3, particularly verse 8 is about the end of the creation, not the beginning. Also kinda ironic that verse 8 is always twisted out of place to try to suit varying modern heresies and new age pagan beliefs when just a few verses down at verse 16 Peter pretty much foretells they would do that and that they really just shouldn't.

It's okay though people of CC, its the theories and the origins of them such as heliocentricism and old earth that are heretical and/or pagan. We all still alive right now, so praise Jesus, we still got time to learn and look forward to the promise of verse 13.

2 Peter 3

1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
[SUP]7 [/SUP]But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
[SUP]16 [/SUP]As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

All that context and you forgot the punch line...

These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created in
the day that Jehovah God was making earth and heavens. (Gen 2.4)

See how ALL the previous six days are thus called ONE day?!

Ownership.

I've been looking at some young-earth creationist websites, and noticed that a lot of time is spent showing that the conventional dates for rocks and stuff is wrong, that the earth is much younger.

but the dates talked about don't always support a 6,000 year old earth.

from Library: Radio-Carbon Dating Proves a Young Earth
"For example, a rock aged by two different scientists using the most advanced radiometric technique was reported to be 10,000 years old by one scientist. The other scientist aged the same rock at several billion years."

is the 10,000 reliable?

what dates are arrived at with proper carbon-dating etc?
The human race is only 6-10 thousand years old, that's why you can't find any remnants of the growth of civilization up to the construction of the pyramids.

Lol I think you just owned yourself actually since you basically say right here that the earth was created in a matter of days.

Though indeed, Genesis 2 is good for the posting of this topic and we can see how it flows seamlessly with chapter 1 and thus corroborates the Biblical cosmology. Everything made in the day they were created by the Lord, the days of which were told to us in the first chapter, when the Lord made the heavens and earth.

Genesis 2

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens,
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
[SUP]17 [/SUP]But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
[SUP]22 [/SUP]And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
[SUP]24 [/SUP]Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

Re: Clinic time...

Lol I think you just owned yourself actually since you basically say right here that the earth was created in a matter of days.

The jokes on you, as the text makes clear that the six 'yawm' that you so desperately wanted to be 24hrs/ea, are now stated to be one 'yawm'.

You should have thought about this before..

Gen 2 destroys your 24hr/day world view and makes the seventh 'day' open-ended.....again, obvious to anyone who can read, that we are not talking about 24hr periods.

here's a thought about God & deception

I think everyone here has agreed that God formed adam out of the dust.
was God being deceptive when he gave adam 98.8% of the same genes as the chimpanzee sitting nearby?

a person looking at the evidence, who considers the bible religious myth, would say they are related, that they had a common ancestor maybe six million years earlier.

DNA: Comparing Humans and Chimps

This part in the article (and probably much of the rest) is absolute crap! It's so out of date and they still wipe their bums with this nonsense like it's the truth.

If human and chimp DNA is 98.8 percent the same, why are we so different?

It's closer to 80% if that. They obviously spread such lies to deceive the masses. And even if it were a small percentage in DNA difference that means jack because even a 1.2% difference would be huge. But since it's closer to a 20% difference the argument is moot. I feel strongly about letting evolutionists pull this crap. They should be made accountable for their lies.

If this were true, then we cannot discern anywhere in Scripture that a day means roughly 24 hours, or the daylight hours, or even an epoch, because it might mean "God's days" which are allegedly different. If days in Genesis are not the same thing as days in Exodus, then the command to keep the Sabbath day is meaningless. I don't see how they could mean different things and maintain the integrity of Scripture.

Actually, we can take that even further. How would we be able to trust anything in the Bible as God's Word if God buggered up His Word from the first chapter? We couldn't.

Your logic is faulty here. The (alleged) length of the seventh day does not dictate the length of the first six. Just because it was not "closed" in the Genesis account does not mean it was not closed. God may have been implying something else by not 'closing' it, He may not. Either way it is an argument from silence. It is poor hermeneutics to take what is decidedly unclear and apply it to twist what is clear. Better to start with what is clear: In six days He made the heavens and the earth, the seas, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day..." (Exodus 20:11). Any period of time other than regular days (roughly 24 hours) simply doesn't make sense. Every attempt to stretch Genesis 1 into epochs violates Exodus 20:11.

Right. You can't make arguments from silence. That's poor hermeneutics. We must take what is clear in the Bible to help us interpret the more difficult verses/passages. After all, Scripture interprets Scripture. And context is key.

The human race is only 6-10 thousand years old, that's why you can't find any remnants of the growth of civilization up to the construction of the pyramids.

Plenty of sites are older than the pyramids. Çatalhöyük and Göbekli Tepe, both in Turkey, for example. Both sites were likely built in the early post-Flood period, not long after the dispersion from the tower of Babel. The pyramids of Egypt were built some time later.

Lol no, Genesis 2 confirms and corroborates Genesis 1. It's why they're in the same book written by the same author. Lol in fact just look at verses 1-3 in chapter 2 which also corroborate the creation plus a day of rest in 7 days.

We can also corroborate this from the same author in another book of the Bible for absolute certainty.

Exodus 20:11

So it appears the old earth mythology has no legs to stand on.

according to you God deceived by making a world in 7 days that looked as though it had taken billions of year.

You don't believe he could work in that time scale. So stop kidding yourself

by the way it would actually take more power to do it In billions of ears,

This is why Christians are so hated by so many people.. all they do is argue they say, about stupid stuff.

No. God did not deceive the world. He made it to be inhabited.. whether he did it in 7 days or 7 billion years. he made it to be inhabited.

If you do not believe God is able. that's on you.. And your God must be weak.. My God can do what he says, He speaks , and whatever he speaks, it happens. It does not need to take him 7 billion years.

And your accusation is childish!

If I believe God can do it in 7 days, he most certainly could do it in 7 billion years.. Every work on a large project. it is much easier to do it over a longer period of time, then it is to do it in a shorter amount of time, you have to work twice as hard and twice as fast..

God rested on the 7th day.. If he did it over billions of years. why did he not rest more after. Now that is being deceptive!
