Can also stuff those fillings into a sweet potato
I would be careful on holding your breath while lifting weights...
You will probably be working your core enough with just the squats and deadlifts. Depending on the weight you are lifting.
I accidently held my breath when I moved up from 315 to 335 in squats and I built up this pressure in my chest that didn't go away for about a minute and a half. It was very uncomfortable. Its probably a good way to pass out too if you are really exerting yourself...
Yes, I know I can have a salad. But salad's are not very filling, regardless of how much protein I put into it.Why not just ditch whole wheat entirely? You can turn those fillings into a salad. Or you could use seaweed or rice paper for wrapping
When I was a kid I loved baseball and soccer. I excelled in them as well and even pitched a no hitter as well which only about forty pitchers in the big leagues have ever done. Turns out that where I played sports had to be closed down and demolished because of a toxic waste site. Years later just recently I captured some of that great enjoyment I had as a child when I played a few games of tennis. That joy of sports that I thought was long gone out of my life is back!As some of you know, I am a fitness coach as well as a life coach. Fitness and being healthy is something I am very passionate about. I am already working with some people to push them to get to their goals.
I wanted to start this to see who else is into fitness? What are some things you do in order to get healthy? I'd love to hear your stories on here on how you wanted to get healthy. I want to hear all about your success stories as wellI have lost 80 pounds!
Tell me all the stories.
New (and tastier) protein suggestions are always welcome!! Thank you for starting this thread!!
I'm asking out of curiousity - why did you cut off all bread?
Instead of relying only on protein shakes, you could try tofu or paneer, if you are not lactose intolerant.
Hi Roh,
I could be wrong, but it seems to me like most bread here in the US is little more than white flour. Even many of the "whole wheat" varieties are simply white flour with processed wheat kernels thrown in, so it's hard to find a brand that's truly whole grain. I cut out most bread in an effort to cut back on processed, simple carbs.
Back in my hometown I used to go to a health food store that sold the best sprouted wheat bread ever, but it was only available in that store and the price was creeping up to about $6 a loaf. I haven't been able to find a brand I like that is comparable and I love good old squishy white bread but it has no nutrition, so I try to avoid it.
Food is always a challenge to me. One of my goals is to cook more and eat healthier in 2016. Ah, tofu!!! I'm definitely planning to add more of it to my diet--what's your favorite way to prepare tofu, Roh?
P.S. What is paneer?

ss & rc..........
we live in the south, and have 'organic-whole-grain-& sprout breads in our Wal-Mart and Publix stores,
they run about $3.79 and $3plus....they are delicious and nutritious....we also incorporate 'tofu', as it is
such a beneficial protein source....many years ago, hubby and I made our own 'soy-milk', and it was
truly delicious, lots of work through, but we were much younger..
we do make our own nut-butters and some of the nut milks...truly delicious stuff!
our 'power-drinks', we call them 'bombs', consist of our greens and other super plants from our garden,
we also fortify them with 'Super-Food-Supplements' from the HFS, such as the 'greens-reds-and purples'...
a must for us is BEETS and TURMERIC....these powerful anti-oxidants-anti-inflammatory are just
miracle foods and we greatly benefit from them....
we have learned just how great God's Garden is, the benefits are price-less.....
it's so good to hear that you all care so much for your 'temples'!!!
I just finished my morning workout. I'm already sore to walk, so tomorrow could be rough. lol
Some of what I did:
Biked eight miles at a 4:35 pace
Leg Press 600lbs 3x5; 410lbs 3x10
Seated Leg Press 250lbs 3x8; 235lbs 2x8
Calf Raises 80lbs 2x10; 50lbs 3x8
Barbell Squats 3x10
Dumbbell Squats 3x10
Seated Rows 3x8
Captain's Chair Leg Raises
I'm planning to do a shred workout and maybe some additional upper body stuff later. Working out can be tiring, but I don't think I've ever not felt better about myself after each workout. Being fit is worth it.![]()
no shame, kim! i just do 30 mins on a treadmill... if i even use the treadmill. lol
i did twice this week, which is an improvement cuz... i've skipped it for the past 3ish months. lol
I ride mountain bikes and road bikes. I had to have knee surgery a little over a year ago--my kneecap was out of whack and they had to realign it. I was laid up for several months and gained weight (which drove me nuts). I just weighed myself a couple of days ago, which I don't do very often, and was thrilled to see I have lost 25 pounds.
And here I thought an hour on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the weight machines was pretty good...
*Hangs head in defeat!*
