Thanks! I'll give it a try and then let you all know how it went. :D

Could you give me the link to the whey protein that you are using? I am asking for it because the dosage would depend on the protein % and the calories per serving. Usually, whey protein is best consumed as a post-workout drink (either with water or milk, mixed in a protein shaker) or as a post-workout meal with 30-45 minutes of your workout (with bananas, peanut butter and fruits). If the calorie serving isn't much, you could also have another serving with your breakfast. So, I would require the link (or a picture) to the nutrition chart of your whey protein, for giving you my recommendation. :)
Sorry, for the late reply. here's the link: 100% Whey Gold Standard - $15.99 | Optimum Nutrition: True Strength

I take them before workout as an added energy boost and after work out for fast repair of muscles. Am i doing it the right way? TIA

Yup. That's what I do too. I'll take my stuff about 30 minutes before I workout and then right after.

I've said this over and over again, but just to paint this picture yet again, let me say this: So I've spent most of my Christian walk in churches completely deprived of young eligible males. A couple of months ago, I planted myself at a large church in the city mainly filled with young single adults. Spent most of that time running away from men until I recently shook off some of that anxiety and decided to be slightly more open to the opposite gender.

So the recent events that have taken place:

1) Guy friend I car pool with every now and then and began exercising with lately because he complained of being overweight:
Me: "So I know we hang every now and then, but just to be clear, we're just friends, and I am saying this just because I want to respect and honour how you feel and make sure the lines are clear early on in our friendship."
Guy suddenly disappears from the radar.
2) Guy I slightly have a crush on as I awkwardly try to make sense of the way I feel. Interactions include: Basically think of awkward attempts to flirt by making cannibal jokes and then kind of dropping out of the conversation and hiding. Goes away and tries to recall Christian ways to suggest interest, comes back with more cannibal jokes.
3) Tell crush's best friend I have a crush on his friend and then crush's best friend tells me he finds me attractive but knows he should spend this time healing after his separation from his wife of 10 years.

This is why I avoided men in the first place.

Its moments like these when the idea of being a nun seems quite appealing.

No problem about the late reply. :)

ON 100% Whey is good. It has a higher protein content per serving than Syntha-6. I had used it once but my body didn't respond well to it. Each to his own, you know? :p

There are different schools of thought for this, so there is no right or wrong - you have to figure out what works best for you. Personally. I do not take a serving of whey protein before my workout and here is why - my body needs more carbs, so I have a pre-workout meal which is rich in carbs. As an intra-workout drink, I have Scivation's Xtend BCAA's. Here's the link - Scivation XTEND. I like the pineapple flavour. You can try Creatine as an intra-workout drink.

You could try taking the protein shake twice a day. If you are on a bulk program and if you workout in the evening, have a protein shake an hour or two after your breakfast. If you workout in the morning, have it right after your workout and then once again an hour before dinner. If you are shedding, have it only once - right after your workout.

If you are an ectomorph, try ON's Serious Mass. It contains very high calories per serving (1250 per serving), and the protein content is pretty high. Start off with half a scoop serving size for twice a day. Use it for a month; if your body accepts it and you see gains, then continue with it.

In short, if you want to bulk up, you have to consume more calories and then train hard at the gym.

I gained about 8kgs in a 2 1/2 month period and this is what I had -
Breakfast at 9am - Indian food + one protein shake
11:30 am - a handful of nuts (almonds, pistachios, walnuts, hazelnuts, etc.)
1:00pm - lunch consisting of grilled veggies and grilled chicken
3:30 pm - a banana
6:30 pm - pre-workout meal of 6 slices wholegrain wheat bread with peanut butter
7:30 pm to 10:00 pm - workout
Post-workout protein shake
10:30 pm - dinner

My family has a late dinner, so that was okay for me. Feel free to follow whatever is suitable for you.

I know. Those Christian women and their cannibal jokes. SO UNGODLY. Why, someone ought to pray over that woman and spray her with Holy water. We cannot stand for this.

3) Tell crush's best friend I have a crush on his friend and then crush's best friend tells me he finds me attractive but knows he should spend this time healing after his separation from his wife of 10 years.

Just to clarify this part, just in case. So the guy I don't have a crush on, but his friend who I was confiding in with trust, just after hearing the words out of my mouth stating that I like his best friend, replied with, "Oh, that's cute. I can see that. But yeah, I totally think you're attractive and when I first met you, I was like, woah, now this is an awesome woman. But I know I shouldn't be involved in anything after the separation and everything. Yeah, totally think you're wow."

I've read all these books about Christian dating, how to love people and I love drawing upon scripture about how to love one another as brothers and sisters and how to build godly relationships. But actually doing this, the friendships, the emerging feelings, the strange dynamics between people... it's so much more complex than the books suggest.

I feel lied to. Hahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa.

I'm just really glad I have an amazing support network with Christian women at my church. Although I have a feeling one or two of them might like the same guy I like.

....I feel like I'm in high school again.

Maybe we should start a thread about survival strategies when it comes to the dating ring.

If you plateaued, did you try mixing up your workouts? Focus on more core workouts like squats and deadlifts. Try different variations of deadlifts - conventional, sumo, Romanian, Reeves, etc. On back days, alternate between rowing workouts on one week and deadlifts on the other week. Put in 4 heavy sets of barbell shrugs because a thick shoulder will give you a bulked up look. Your main areas for bulking up should be - chest, shoulders, back and legs. Don't devote a whole day to your biceps or triceps alone. Also do a lot of chinups, pullups, dips and pushups every week.

On Monday, I do 50 pushups in 2 sets as warmup and then 50 pushups in 6-8 sets as cool down.
On Tuesday, I do 25 chinups as warmup.
On Wednesday, it is 50 squats and 25 lunges.
On Thursday, 70-100 dips.
On Friday, 25 pullups.

All in all, just eat as clean as possible and train as dirty as possible. Focus on form and function, not on the weight, and the hypertrophy will come on its own. :)

Well when you're ready to seriously flirt just remember to follow up the cannibal jokes by saying you'd like to have the guy over for dinner sometime. Or maybe we need to make the whole feminist thing complete and do a kind of reverse caveman thing where women can club the guy of their choice over the head and take him back to her cave. Survival of the species may depend upon it and all :p
