With all the men-bashing that is doled out these days, some acknowledgement for the good ones would be much appreciated. It gets frustrating when all men are stereotyped to be abusers or players or sexual predators.

And for the record, there are women who play the same tricks too.
I completely and whole heartedly agree.

There is a stereotype with men and there is a stereotype with women.

I highly appreciate the men on here. I highly appreciate the men in my life. Saying "Men are like this," is a stereotype.

Women, please treat men like brothers.
Men, please treat women like sisters.

Please treat people like children of Christ. They are part of the body.

I understand that some people might have experienced a few bed men and men might have experienced some bad women. But, this doesn't mean that everyone is the same. That insults the ones who are actually good guys and good women.

I can agree they are not all bad.... But I can and will say this. Due to my experiences in my 33 years of life, I have chosen to not engage in a relationship. It is my intentions to stay on my own the rest of my life. Its like this, I realized, though I do want the companionship, it does not need to exceed anything beyond grabbing coffee and just hanging out whatever its called these days. That seemingly will satisfy the need for social interaction without having to eventually deal with the juggling and navigating of emotions that comes with relationships.

Its a simple solution that I can embrace. To know that I wont have to deal with or consider someone when I go home at the end of the day is spectacular. I much enjoy having my own space and not worrying about accidentally upsetting her or find the hidden "crazy" she only chose to reveal after the fact.

I don't want to label or place stereotypes, but.............. It has in essence presented me with evidence that is better to leave them all well enough alone.

Men bashing? Haven't noticed, but haven't been lurking as much here while vacationing.

I guess I miss all the good stuff.

That's fine. I'm not saying anything against that. I'm just saying people tend to stereotype all women and all men.

Yes, and that's totally your right.

Is this something you believe in because of something that has happened? I saw some people saying in another thread towards you that they'll never get involved with someone who has a kid and you responded with something similar to what you're saying now.

But I know a LOT of Christian women who are involve with single dads. -shrugs- Just because there are people who wouldn't doesn't mean everyone.

You have every right to have that desire not to be with someone. But, if it's because of hurts or whatnot that causes you not want to settle down, I hope and pray that you find that healing from Christ. If it's not that, then by all means, be single :)

That's fairly accurate. But I did attempt to engage in relationships after getting divorced. There seemed to be an undeniable trend. But I have also had the opportunity to live alone for quite some time now and see the advantages to it. So, it does come from both experience with women and having seen the advantages to not having a relationship. Yes, I may be slightly jaded but even when I think of meeting a woman who is everything God intended her to be I think, "man, I just really have no desire to deal with it either direction". Do I recommend marriage? No. But that's just me. Im not emotionally co-dependent. Varying social interaction suffices the "human contact" thing. I like spreading diagonal across the bed at night and I love not having to wake up next to someone who may potentially expect me to interact with them. I did that for 12 years and didn't really like it then.

When I was in a relationship last year, for a short time, to me, the stupid phone went off at all the wrong times. So, I ignored her from time to time. It got to the point where I would go a day or two without speaking to her simply because I didn't want to be bothered. So, it was very apparent that I really didn't want to deal with someone else.

You know... We all choose who we are and who we become every moment of every day.
Moment after moment...Day after day...Choice after choice...

I was winding down last night by watching some old interviews and came across this.

And This is Why We All Fell In Love With Luke Skywalker.

I don't know who's more adorable. Mark Hamill back in the day, or the cat he's loving on in this interview (starts at about 3:05):
