I have a confession to make.-

I'm what the left refers to as a "gun nut." You would never no it by the paltry size of my collection, but I think they are cool on so many levels.

What I like more than guns though is American gun culture. Since I've taken on the responsibility of being an armed citizen, many of the best friends I have made have been gun enthusiasts. Why? Many of us share one thing in common- what it means to be a truly free individual in an age when that is increasingly less cool.

We are generally Christians (at least nominally). Many of us grew up in the country or close to it. We have a strong affinity with history. We cannot stand BS political correctness. We value independence, adulthood, and personal responsibility. Finally, we just know the simple pleasure dropping lead down range and spelling the gunpowder on our hands directly afterward.

This is a thread for myself and the rest of you. Here we can discuss anything we want about life as armed citizens- our firearms, shooting techniques, gun show moments of glory, and videos of Top Gun Tori, Iraqwarveteran8888. and Colion Noir.

I also propose we ignore the naysayers unless special circumstances call for it. This is our thread.

So! First topic of discussion and one on my mind thanks to the coming holiday (Christmas).

What guns do you own? (Pictures Encouraged)

What guns would you like to own?

What guns would you like to give to a particular family member or family members?

I own a Crimson Tide which is carried on me at all times, a 38 Special, a Glock .40, A Shot Gun and a rifle. I am currently contemplating a CZ 75 SP-01 on the recommendation of a client of mine. As a CC I do not show my weapons unless a threat is detected. Of all weapons I have, including my martial art skills my gun is the last resort that I reach for.

I do not collect guns, so no special one do I wish I own. I have a friend whom has a huge collection, which allows me to try and shoot which ever I want on his property.

As my kids grow they are taught proper technique, cleaning, storage and so forth. The goal is that beyond their martial arts skills and weapons training (i.e. knifes, nun-chucks, swords, etc.) is that they can should they chose to be able to defend and protect themselves as well as loved ones.

I wish my parents would have a gun in the house, however they refuse. Guns are not for everyone. I was raised they are wrong, etc. etc. When I was 16 a had a boyfriend whom introduced me and I was a natural shot. I got over my fear and learned all I could, including rebuilding the bullets. Now I have no fear of them. Like all things it isn't the weapon you should fear, but the person in control of the weapon.

As I understand it, CZ's are a solid choice. I have a few friends who are very satisfied with their CZ's. I'm also glad to see I'm not the only one with a Glock .40 though I'll probably end up replacing it with a .45.

Can't go wrong with a Glock 9mm given current ballistics. If I were to go that way, I'd get the Glock 19. A very versatile handgun.

I'm no stickler with the caliber debate though to be honest I'm growing less and less fond of the .40.

Thanks! I'll be sure to check out a Glock 19. I've noticed that ammo for the 9mm is cheaper than ammo for the .40 and .45 caliber.

That's the huge advantage to the 9mm.

I checked out the Glock 19 on the Bass Pro Shops website and it received 4.9 out of 5 overall rating. Impressive! Being compact will make it ideal for conceal and carry.

Under most clothing, you should be able to conceal it quite well. Especially if you live in a cold/temperate area that allows you to wear long-sleeved shirts most of the year.

If you are looking to conceal it under a t-shirt, I would highly recommend the Glock 26 frame. I own a Glock 27 (same frame, .40 cal) and appendix carry with it in a cheap leather holster from Blackhawk.

It disappears to the point that I forget I'm carrying it sometimes. Glock mags are also compatible with all of their models, so if you wanted to put a G19 or G17 mag in a G26, you'll have no problems.

My advice is to go to the range and try'em both. Some find the lack of grip on a G26 or G27 to be troublesome.

Also, most gun stores will allow you to look at guns AND holster options. If you can find a way to make the G19 work as well as the G26 with a t-shirt (some body types can), more power to you.

I have a remington model 870 shotgun, an sks, winchester model 94 lever action .44 mag, and 4 bolt action hunting rifles 300 win mag, 30-06, .308 and .243.

I want to get a glock 20 or 40 in 10mm for good bear protection. I also want to get a fn .308 semi-auto because the sks I have is not very accurate, at all. I was also thinking a desert eagle .44 mag someday...

I've only fired off a few rounds from a 9mm and a rifle at an outdoor range. I'm far and away no gun aficionado, but wouldn't mind owning a 9mm myself.

My father has a Remington 870. Fine shotgun.

That semi-auto you would like, would it happen to be a SCAR?

I think everyone who has a shotgun has or had a remington 870... They're like the bikes kids in the 70's all rode, the schwinn. Everyone had a schwinn...
