My mom stopped by unannounced today and caught me in the weird funk I'm in- you know, the whining, kinda depressed thing, plus the total disaster my entire house is right now because despite my good intentions yesterday morning, I've done almost nothing with the mess I came home to and the mess that accumulated over the weekend.

So that was embarrassing.

But the first thing she said after she looked around was, "Ah...yeah, I thought you might get like this."

I totally intended to make a bunch of lame excuses about it, but she was giving me one of those way-too-understanding-mom-looks, so I just shrugged and said, "Good call."

And then I started crying, and she gave me a hug, but only in my head because we are not huggy people. What actually happened was that she just talked about normal every day stuff and pretended there wasn't a pile of clean laundry threatening to push her out of the chair.

But I feel better, after that. Because she KNEW, and she drove 30 miles just to see me.

P.S- I've got the mess mostly under control now, too. Thank God for moms.

Aw, Cristen.

I'm so glad your Mom came to see you. But I would have given you a hug and helped you work on that pile of laundry. Kind of a funny thing, I put off my chores at home... But I've been known to go to friends' houses and help them with THEIR chores. I dunno why. I guess it's just because of the company... and it's a way of spending time with them.

I do have my limits though.

Much as I love you... I will have to draw a line between me and the cat box.

(Argh. Even that is negotiable. I went to visit a sick sibling once... And wound up cleaning their entire kitchen... and the cat box... that probably hadn't been changed in a month. It Was A Total Disaster. I had to hose my legs and ankles off in Lysol... and that was before stepping into the shower to try to sterilize myself. Sigh. Some people... are just worth it. And I know you would be, too.)

Oh my goodness.

I want to "like" Ole's post multiple times.

And Cristen, I sure hope I didn't offend you. I am NOT in anyway saying that your house, kitchen, or kitty box is somehow a disaster at all!! Oh my goodness. I just realized how that could have come out all wrong, and I am sorry!!!

What I'm really trying to say is...

GRRR. I am SO jealous that you and Ole got to meet each other!!!

I'm just going to stand here in line until it's my turn to meet you both.

LOVE THE PICTURE!!!

Well, at least the ear nearest to you got cleaned out, and mostly the other ear. (Girl, your hair!! :loves: )

I'm so glad to know that you were anti-huggy BEFORE I hugged you TWICE. :sigh: I'm kinda squishy about hugs. Love 'em.

And seriously.

You both look like a couple of fresh-faced college-aged girls.

(Makes mental note that someday if I meet MissCris, her hair might try to kill me.)

If I could survive Shour picking on me like a Big Brother for 4 days, I can survive pretty much anything our CC'ers can dish out.

Besides. I like to live dangerously.

I prefer Death By Chocolate but would gladly risk Death By Trichology if it meant meeting Ole and MissCris. (Be warned... I too am a Serial Hugger. I have even been known to kiss people on the top of the head.)

Wow. Cristen's Hair is totally going to have a Field Day plotting my death...
