So, I was making chili and cornbread for dinner. Halfway into making the cornbread I remembered that I used that last if the eggs for breakfast this morning so I just kinda didn't put any eggs in the batter hoping for the best.

Actually I think the recipe I have works better without the egg in it. :D

My cornbread recipe has never used egg. Just milk and honey for the liquids. Corn flour, some wheat flour, salt, and baking powder. Pour into a hot, buttered cast-iron skillet, in the oven for about 30 minutes. Comes out perfect every time. ^_^

Shouryu: Honey in cornbread? I thought they only did sweet cornbread up north. Or do they do it to the west of me as well?

MissChris: If your cat does speak to you, please let me know. o_O

Any way I can help. *knuckle bump* I keep forgetting to set up my flash drive for persistence.

Happy Saturday, everyone!

Call week. Bleh.

Don't wanna go outside because pollen.

Wonder how mad people would be if I took apart cabinets and painted them. Better to ask forgiveness than permission? Not sure but I hate these cabinets.

I don't know that it's a regional thing. I just know that's how I like it. *shrug*

(Also, not being from "the South" means that I don't think in terms of, "Well, that's what we do in the South, and everyone else is the North. Including Antarctica." *smirk* )

By the way Shouryu, because of a cartoon reference I just found out they made a movie of your favorite show. And I also found out WHY they made it... to sell a whole new round of toys.
Shocking, huh? You'd think Hasbro would have thought of this tactic sooner. It's a brand new sales gimmick that was never used before. Except in 1986, with Transformers: The Movie, followed by G.I.Joe: The Movie...both of which killed off (or planned to kill off) many existing characters to replace them with new ones so they could...wait for it...sell more toys.

As the Preacher says, there is nothing new under the sun. *shrug*

I'm in a good but weird place today. Lots of stuff ruminating in my noggin. There's stuff I should be doing, but I kinda don't wanna. I'm fun no? :)

Cathearder, I've determined that we can be friends. I want to eat all the things you make ('cept for shellfish and gluteny foods because I enjoy breathing and not being ill).

GYPSY!! I know you know how to cook, so I'm just gonna encourage you to component cook so lunch/dinner takes 10 minutes. Cook up a bunch of chicken or beef in the crock pot with neutral seasonings. Cook up a big pot of rice. Have some veggies on hand. Have lots of interesting spices on hand. Have cheese you like on hand. Put the various stuff together as you go. Not in the mood for Mexican flavored stuff? Do Greek. Or French. Or Italian. Or Indian... you catch my drift.

Then you are eating goodness and happiness with very little time.

well, the best thing about this lunch was that I did not make it! :) I ate at the CoOp today. There is a mini-cafeteria in their store.

I think it would be odd if Olerica, gypsy and I were ever in a meet-up. The others in the group would think it strange that we never leave the kitchen.

honestly, there is only one problem here.

depending upon how things are going in my life, i am sort of famous for waiting until i'm eating from a jar of PB until i venture to the grocery store. other times, i'm more eager to go. but in the last several months, i've literally pushed two carts through the aisle. cases of coconut milk, truckloads of tea, costco-sized thingies...are you following?

so yeah, but i like going to the outdoor markets. and i am craving peaches and watermelon. eventually the stalemate will end. this week, probably. so much of my day is scheduled, but fills up quickly. i always think, "i'm NOT going to the grocery store for just 45".

because i am eternally plagued with the whole "lose yourself in the moment". and in a well stocked grocery store, those moments add up. last time i went shopping, i went to two stores and was gone four hours. seriously. i know! but i read labels and smile at the old ladies too. ; p

p.s. sometimes less variety works too, when i'm focusing on eating very healthy, opening the pantry and seeing six kinds of protein powder is what i need more than sixteen kinds of cheese. *sigh*

I rarely leave the kitchen in most gatherings. I'm not shy exactly... but a large group - even of friends and family that I know well is overwhelming to me. Having a purpose makes me feel less in the center of attention.

There are tricks to get me to relax, but mostly I have leaned to force myself to put on a more extroverted visage. I'm glad when I do, I do like people, but It's an effort.
