Should a Christian celebrate christmas or easter?

Do you, as a Christian, celebrate christmas or easter and what do you think of it?

Yet, we can't find a verse that states:
"Behold! The Lord thy God hath made thee an appointed time to remember the lamb which was slain for mankind; it shall be at the twelfth month and on the twenty fifth day of the month that ye shall have a feast and on it ye shall eat, and ye shall drink, and ye shall take a tree for thy house and shall put it there as an ornament. This hath the Lord of hosts spoken, and ye shall do it as I am the Lord thy God."


Both christmas as well as easter have no origin in the Bible, neither did the first apostles celebrate these feasts.

You're 3 months late with your Easter stir up and 5 months early with your Christmas stir up. Come back with it again when December hits, because I know most people don't think about such things in the middle of July.

the first sunday after passover is a good time to celebrate the Lord's resurrection.

if our queen can have an official birthday why shouldn't the Lord?

it is good to remember both His birth and death.

It is irrelevant what we call them.

It was good for early Christians to have something to celebrate when the heathen were celebrating their gods.

The only holiday that I am strongly opposed to is halloween. It is a very evil event!

I feel it is legalistic to label anyone "doing wrongly" who celebrates christmas or "resurrection" out of the right heart. Christ looks at our heart! He knows our every thought.

Christmas is about Jesus in my home. Its about Jesus' birth although I am aware Dec 25th is not the true date he was born. For me,its an opportunity to spread the good news! I dont focus on the gift giving as much anymore. I hate the commercialism brought forth by the world around the holidays honoring our savior.

Christmas is a beautiful time of the year with all the pretty lights and ribbons and bows about. Im an artist so I focus on the nativity in the yard (that I built myself) . I put a small tree up that Ive had for ages. Christmas is a joyous time for me because people have a heart of giving more than usual and people are just nicer! LOL

I stay out of the stores! I buy my kids and grandkids gifts online because I have a hard time with how the world has gone overboard with buy buy buy syndrome. Speaking of commercialism; i was in hobby lobby two days ago and they are already putting out christmas stuff. For a company that is supposed to be a christian based corp, It gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Ive never seen christmas garb going out in july have you?

I dont refer to the resurrection as easter because I just know the origins being satanic. I focus on Christ and not bunnies and easter eggs. Christ only needs to be the focus.

I love the song "up from the grave he arose! with a mighty triumph o'er his foes! It gives me alot of joy to wrship singing that song! In fact, I just brought it up to listen to it! lol

Much of the reasoning behind the rejection of these days as acceptable practices centers on bad arguments, though. For instance, Jeremiah 10 was said to be a Christmas tree but actually it is talking about an idol. Other verses that some individuals use to prove that Easter is pagan are similar.

Alexander Hislop wrote a book called The Two Babylons that communicated a lot of the talking points in regards to this issue.

In the church I belonged to, they quite often referred to this book as well as Ralph Woodrow's book "Babylon Mystery Religion" which propagated this understanding that Christmas and Easter should not be observed. He recanted his teachings after learning that they were fallacious and published a second book called The Babylon Connection? In addition, he wrote a book called Christmas Reconsidered that was a response to his teaching previously that Christmas was a pagan holiday with no redeeming value.

Whatever you decide in this area is a matter of personal conscience, but I will say that there are cults which prey on people who are susceptible to being convinced that Christianity is tainted and is a false version of the true faith or the true church, which they claim to represent. The group that I belonged to, Worldwide Church of God, did this. Worldwide Church of God has many splinter groups that do the same thing today. In addition, the Jehovah's witnesses are similar. The doctrinal errors of such groups are much greater than the doctrinal areas they claim to be correct on. I am more confident that orthodox evangelical Christianity is a better place to be than a cult.

On Christmas, I go to a Christmas Eve party with my family and eat snacks while playing a game with them, and on Easter I attend services like I do normally every Sunday. A clear gospel message is spoken which focuses on salvation. If I have a friend that is seeking, I would bring him to services. That is how I spend the holidays.

By the way the word Easter is an English word and in other cultures they use other words which don't relate to the goddess Ishtar. And, many Christians call it Resurrection Sunday.

I think it sends the wrong message to hide one's self away from family on those days, so that is my conscience on the issue.

I'm guessing you don't have children. People who do just don't ask this question. These two holidays are great bonding, fun times for the whole family. And for Christians, a time to bring Jesus' birth in visual form to the children. We really do need a day to do that.

Messiah had a few things to say about the "traditions" of men..Matthew 15:7 - "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:
