(Apart from taller!)

I wanted to be a vet or a vets assistant, but it never happened.

I even did 3 works voluntary work at a vets when I was 14 on work
experience.

That was great fun I helped with one operation where a dog
swallowed a ball. The vet cut open the dogs stomach and I had to
swab away the gunk, then he started rummaging around inside the dog
and showing me different parts.

Another girl who was there fainted, but I loved it!

The funniest thing was one day someone brought in a snake
which had worms!

Oh and then there was the incident where a budgie needed its beak
trimming. It bit the vet and he lost his grip on it and it started flying
around the consultation room, with us all trying to catch it.

When I was younger still, I wanted to be a horse!

Superman.
If that position was filled by the time l got older, l would have settled for being Optimus Prime.

I wanted to play in the NFL, or join the Air Force like my old man.
I went towards all things art.

I wanted to be a teacher until I was about twelve and realized I wasn't smart enough for that. Then I wanted to attend Beauty School to be a licensed Cosmetologist. Now, I am one year away from being an accountant and that is something I enjoy:) with the exception of Payroll:(

I wanted to be a grown up when I grew up. They seemed so cool!

Now I'm grown up and am still trying to be a grown up, only it's not very cool.

I wanted to be a lot of things. I grew up with Barbie and she did everything so that was the mentality that I had.
Here are a few careers that I wanted lol

Disney Princess at one of the parks (like at age 3)
Vet
Actress
Ballerina
Ice Skater
Writer
Lawyer
Chocolatier

Now that I'm an adult, I just want to be a stay at home wife/mother.

And to think I'm studying to be an actuary. That has nothing to do with all of the above. :p

The first memory of what I wanted to be was a witch.

Ummmm, they fly around on broomsticks. What were you thinking? So, I ate all the wings for dinner -- chicken, turkey, duck, goose, quail, pheasant, whatever winged animal Dad bagged, I always got the wings so I could fly when I grew up.

Then I wanted to be an English teacher. I went to college to be an English teacher. And, since all my growing up life was about astronauts flying into space, I also wanted to be the first teacher in space. Neither worked out. I still can't remember what the difference is between a participial phrase and a gerund, plus I'm lousy with commas, so English teacher was taken away from me my final year of college. (Remember, I'm from the States, so what we call "college," you call "university.") That kind of left me with nothing but a liberal arts BA, which only equipped me for paper-pushing and low paying social work jobs.

The first teacher going into space was killed when the ship exploded on the way up to space in the early 80's, so God never wanted me in space.

I've done my working-life thing already. Disabled, so can't really work anymore, but that doesn't mean my "when I grow up" dreams are done. I'm on my last edit before sending out my novel for publication. My new "when I grow up" is to be the writer of a MG (Middle Grade) urban fantasy dystopian series. Sounds hoity-toity, doesn't it? Yeah, well look at my avatar. Those are two out of six of the main characters in the series. It's set in Philly (at the beginning of the series anyway), so that makes it urban. The characters are walking talking stuffed animals, so that makes it fantasy. It's dystopian simply because the government made a law against them, unaware they talk and walk, (oh, and eat.)

So, that's what I wanted to be and that's still what I want to be when I grow up. (Taller, not in there. I've shrunk already and I'm 5' 9.5", so still on the slightly tall side for a girl.)

I wish I was smart enough at 12 to know I wasn't smart enough to teach. I never became an accountant, but I did bookkeeping for a few years. (Taxes still freak me out, so I'm not smart enough to be an accountant. lol) I mostly liked collecting money and spending it, although there are more enjoyable things to spend $8000 on than a roll of steel. lol
