Knowing the other party, they should not have taken it as arrogance.
But, in general only, such a question depends on a couple of things. 1) Is there an agreed upon relationship of Teacher and Student? If so, it would not be arrogant. 2) Is there an assumption of mutual experience/intellect/understanding of Scripture? If so, then it possibly could be seen as arrogant.
Given that this is all occurring on a Public Forum, and on the BDF where it is common for people to hold themselves out as being the "final Authority" on all things Scriptural (not referring to you here), it very often is a statement of arrogance on a persons part. I can't count the number of new members that have come here and began to LECTURE all of us on Biblical Truth and how we are all doing everything wrong and doomed forever. I'm sure all of you have seen these people too.
Anyway, as I said, in this case, knowing you and the other party........NO, you were not being arrogant.
Hope all of this makes sense.
