ok but I don't see why he has to mention it if he isn't practicing the lifestyle, it shouldn't be something he identifies with as a christian if he's trying to be celibate
It's just assumed by default that most people are straight. It's why you don't have to mention you lust after women.

Whether or not this thread is current, I can't help wanting to slap people who tell someone they are a sinner for having attractions to members of the same sex.

I don't know all the answers, but I do know that attitude is not caring or loving, at all.

Read your bible.. GOD SAYS it's a sin..no man should lay with another man, nor woman with woman.. if someone is participating in a gay lifestyle, that makes them a sinner and anyone who tells them they are a sinner is only speaking gospel truth..God created man and woman, not man and man or woman and woman..

Well, we'll just have to agree to disagree on telling someone they are a sinner for having feelings they simply have.... like it's their fault, or something. But I'll try to disagree agreeably.

You know what I find disturbing?

People with screen names like Servant of God and I love the bible were banned. I guess they weren't doing as good as they thought they were...

Hello I have been attending church on an off al my life but recently every Sunday plus bible studies mid week and other weekend convenctions for about 5 years, however I am also gay I know what the bible says about this, but I love going to church and reading the bible. I recently told the pastor I was gay I didn't want to mislead the church, I wanted to be honest so they accepted me for who I am not who they think I am. He told me I could no longer be a member or have any leaderships rolls in the church I understand and accept all that how ever one comment he made upset me and now I never want to go back to church the comment was being gay is no different to people who sleep around. I have never done that, you don't have to be gay to sleep around. my question is this normal reaction, Will I find a church that is wiling to accept me knowing I am gay?
you cannot inherit the kingdom of God in that state my friend...it is an illusion...

You know real christians can't accept the practice of homosexuality, neither can God. So if you want to remain true to one of these things you're going have to give one up.

why do you want to solve your problem with violence???? action is the end result of what was birth in your mind....if your thoughts and desires are evil then your actions will be evil....you have a desire to slap and another a desire to have homosexual activities ....that is not the mind of Christ....so tell me is your attitude caring and loving....????

That's why, if we were face to face, you might not be slapped. I DO care... both about you denegrading him, and about your strange need to feel you have to.:D

You chose to give in to what may be your little problem by typing the word "evil" instead of using something like "hostile" or "aggressive" or "reactive" or any one of dozens of other words. But does that make you a sinner because you desired to give in to temptation, and took that unnecessary road, and didn't resist... while this guy is saying he is attracted to men, but that he isn't giving into a much stronger impulse. Yet, you call him a sinner because although he feels this desire it seems he does an admirable job of resisting.

Unfortnatly....I can't amswer that because I don't know. I just wanted to say that I'm sorry this happened to you. :-(

Give up the physical acts of sin(whether that be sexual sin or anything else), trust and believe in the power of Christ to change your heart and He will. Don't forget, it is not sin to be tempted. We are all tempted with sin. Everyone's temptations are different. It is how we react to these temptations that we need to heed. Have faith in the power of Christ and He WILL purify your heart of ALL lusts/addictions and smite temptation in it's path. Pray for strength to deal with temptation, for God to change your heart and desires to what He is pleased with. You are a child of God and the temple of the Lord.

Also that pastor made a mistake in the way he handled that. He should turn no one away for their sins.

I was going to give this post a big<LIKE>, until I read that last word. Why is being tempted not a sin in your second sentence... then it becomes one at the end?

The OP said he isn't sleeping around. Are we to assume that means he is?

Humm well you cant slap God but he was the one that said it was wrong to have attraction for the same sex. Sooooo...

What you don't understand is the definition of "homosexuality." Homosexuality is being attracted to the same sex. Is it a sin to be attracted to someone? No. Is it a sin to act on these attractions whether that be in spirit or body? Yes. Will God change your desires to fit his will? Absolutely.
