It helped me grow out of my LD (as they seem to call it). I personally graduated with a 5th grade reading level and D- (after 4 years of summer school) but when it was important enough to me (even as it was to me to learn the words of God) I taught myself to read by the scriptures using a dictionary to the side of those.

Notice when people try to teach on Hell, they never elaborate on the greek words in the New Testament (Hades, Gehenna and Tarturus), where the pagan name Hel was tranlated upon?
