Even though I am not musically inclined I feel that I am certainly qualified to join this particular club. Perhaps the single life should be preferred over the married life. I have known one horrific marriage and one beautiful marriage so it may be well that I should remain single and celibate at this stage of my life as my efforts in this search seem to be pointless and frustrating. Instead of searching for a wife I will now visit my local animal shelter and take home the first dog that comes to the front of the cage. A dog will love you unconditionally, will be sad when you are sad, wag his tail when you are happy and will not talk back to you unless it is a cheerful bark or yip telling you it’s time to go potty. That is why a dog is a man’s best friend. No fuss or muss. Every morning I will faithfully fill my dog’s food dish with Alpo and fill the water dish with Dasani bottled water. Only the best will do for my new best friend in life that I will love with all of my heart. At night we will go for walks in the park and talk about the day’s events. It's a dog's life.

Dogs make very good companions. But you have to choose the right breed. The dog should be compatible with your personality characteristics. Having a dog that is the opposite of who you are as person is a disaster. For example, if are you outgoing and you are usually animated when you talk, then a lab is a good idea. If you are reserved and you prefer being by yourself, then a German shepherd or an alsatian is a good companion.

I heard that opposites attract. That is probably why I am now a charter member of the club. What type of dog would you recommend for an introvert?

Here's the best dog I ever had: Eli (after Elisha, my 2nd son).

I trained him, myself. If you ever motioned your arm as you were having a gun, he will bite you, unless I could control his power by using a chain.
Sometimes, like now, I feel sad (I left him to die when I had to leave to Colombia). :( There are hard decisions I regret having made.

Well if you are an introvert then you should have a 'one-man' dog. Although German Shepherds and Alsatians are considered to be one-man dogs, they are fiercely protective of their owners. But they are loyal and are very good watch dogs. You can also look at the golden retriever. It may not be as 'loyal' as the GS or the Alsatian, but it is still fairly 'one-man' type. And Golden Retriever's are very intelligent. If you are into water sports, go for a Golden Retriever. They are hydrophilic and they will not hesitate to get their feet wet.

The best friend I had. I had several breeds... I like this more than pitbulls or DoberMEN. :)

Rottweilers are really good companions. I love their stance and their gait when they walk. I read somewhere that Rotts are to the dog family what lions are to the cat family - royal and proud. They make such protective dogs. If you ever cross a Rott, God save you! I mean, literally!

Problem is not everybody can bring up a Rott. Since they are protective, one-man and loyal by instinct, they have to be trained on socialising right from a pup. Otherwise they would be very uncomfortable with strangers or even with other dogs and they could get violent. You must watch the series 'Dog Whisperer' - it's amazing what this guy does for dogs. :)

Yes! I trained him with a cocker spaniel and and Alpha half Boxer with Pit-bull ("Word"). When my mom took the spaniel, he interacted with a Doberman I had and he gave Joy (my daughter) rides on his back (she was a little baby afraid of him). I always watched his back (you know the problems they have with the bones and its spine).

Certain day, when I planned to leave him at my ex-wife and with my children, he was on the 1st floor and he saw several dogs teasing a female dog (her hot season). He jumped from almost 3 meter high and I couldn't stop his fall, although he cured so soon from his bleeding and the pain in his mouth. I never considered he could do that... So, because I knew he was dangerous (even for my children and people around) i let him to die, when he got sick :( (a sigh) If I had taken him to the vet, he could have been a danger for those in town. he was so strong that, certain day, some shoot him. I was out for several days and, when i came home, I saw he survived to several bullets. I cured him (and also received help from my children's aunt) and Francis took care of him as long as I was working far from my land.

This dog, for me, is the best "person" I had (and probably I wasn't his best friend). :(

Oh no, it looks like he went through a lot. Yes rotts are always victimised for being ferocious dogs. But they are actually doing their duty faithfully. People don't understand that dogs come pre-programmed and that you cannot change their nature. We are the only ones who can do it but we don't do a good job.

I said that I was going to get a dog for a companion but that doesn't mean that I would prefer a dog over a cuddly woman. I am going back to Plan A and I will be bringing my A game.

I think I will get a cockatoo and teach it to sing. Under the circumstances, the cat is problematic.

Go for a dog. Wouldn't you want somebody to wait for you at the door when you come home?
Birds are dumb (heard of the phrase 'bird-brained'?). Cats are very trecherous creatures who only plot about thwir owners' downfall.
