I hate reading hardcover books, I am a paperback-kinda girl. So awkward to hold, book slams shut on your fingers so easily. Death traps for readers really.
Really? I love hardcover books, although they cost much more than paperbacks (and few books are available in hardcover in Australia). They last much longer and they make ideal pillows for bookworms... uh, yeah.

Someone from my church posted this on our church Facebook page, and I have to admit, I have been guilty of doing this in the past. Even in jest, things like this have impact. I have a younger sister who does most of these things better than I do. That girl is someone I can always be proud of.
Wow...awesome message!

I now want a dobro guitar... Been playing my acoustic electric guitar in open e tuning for the past several hours. I was looking up blues chords and then suddenly the licks & slide were involved. The shot glass my brother gave me actually came in handy for a slide. (I originally used it to put my loose change in.) :p
Don't know if you've seen me post this guy before, of if you've heard of him. His name is Gypsy Carns. He has more stuff on Youtube, you may dig him.

Jump to 1:05, the first part is just talking.

I started the day out in a pretty crappy mood, you know, because of the cheesed-offness. But, a couple of friends (I HAVE FRIENDS!!! Break out the champagne!!) really helped me out and-

I'm going to derail my own self for a minute to say that I am like a whole new person lately. More so every day. The changes...ch-ch-ch-chaaaanges...
Where I used to be painfully shy, and terrified of meeting new people or even just talking to someone on the phone, I now find myself doing those things on purpose, I go looking to connect with others.
I don't stare at the ground while I'm walking anymore, or avoid people's eyes and give them an apologetic smile (apologizing for existing). I actually hope people I come across will look at me just so I can give them a real, warm smile. And guess what? Most of them smile back.
I've also lost two pounds.

I still have bad moments, or bad days, where I feel inferior or just downright scared. Hideous or not good enough.

But I've started to learn how to get over that quickly, how to reach out to a friend for help with it...I'm realizing OH DUH, people like, CARE about me. I've realized that I can, and should, and want to accept that.

I'm also learning, with help, that it's ok and even best sometimes to just cut certain people out of my life. I've always been afraid of doing that- I don't want to confront people, and I don't want to make anybody feel bad...but sometimes I can't be better until I cut those ties completely.

So, I started out the day cranky, but I'm ending it in a much better mood and with a new perspective.

AND I think I fixed my painting. Mostly.

I really need to set my priorities straight and stop goofing off at times where I need to actually get stuff done.

Just on page 29, great book so far!!

About:
From the highly acclaimed, multiple award-winning Anthony Doerr, a stunningly ambitious and beautiful novel about a blind French girl and a German boy whose paths collide in occupied France as both try to survive the devastation of World War II.

(turn head slightly..)

His name reminds me of Dr. Hfuhruhurr (from 'the man with two brains')

I've still got to touch up some spots (shaky hands today). But I want to hang this over my daughter's bed. Kinda painted it For her. She won't care yet, in fact she'd eat it if I'd let her...but I was thinking that I always wished I had asked my dad for one of his drawings, or my mom for one of her paintings...yeah. I painted a crazy solar system for my son and he really likes it, and maybe his sister will eventually like this :)

I just read that the Lego Movie is extremely similar to George Orwell's book 1984. Big brother = lord business. Reflecting on it, it's like 1984 for kids.

Is The Idiot any good? I've read a little Dostoevsky but not much at all (only two of his novellas).

Thanks. I don't think I'll be reading The Brothers Karamazov any time soon either but it also sounds very good.
