I now know that the green stuff was money, but at the time I thought it was fresh green grass, so I ate it!! :pThat's my story and I'm stickin' to it!! LOL. :)
Ladybugs don't eat grass. They kill and eat other insects. :p
So, this just hasn't been my week. For some time I've been building a little bit of a cash stash primarily for emergencies, but over the years I've also found that cash is an amazing negotiating tool when trying to get someone to reduce the price of goods and services (waving cash under someone's nose works so much better than waving plastic). The foolish part of this plan is that I kept the cash in my wallet (not entirely foolish since anyone that knows me knows that I carry cash in my pocket, not my wallet).

For years I have left my wallet stashed in my truck since carrying a wallet in my occupation is a nuisance (paint over spray gets everywhere including in your pockets and wallet). Anyway, yesterday I cashed a check from a side job and opened my wallet to add the cash to my stash and to my horror I found instead of approximately $1,000, there was only $100 there. Someone literally pulled my wallet out, removed the cash that no one knew was there, and put my wallet back in it's original place so that I wouldn't immediately notice something was amiss.

The sad thing is that all the evidence points to someone who works for me, I just don't know who and even if I did know who, I couldn't prove it.
You know, that stinks really bad. I'm going to pray that you get your money back.

As promised... here's pictures of wedding cupcakes and the wedding cake I made for my little sisters wedding yesterday...
Pipp, you did an awesome job on those cupcakes and the wedding cake! I'm curious though, what are those cutouts on the cake made of? And did you cut them out yourself, or buy them that way?

Let's not turn this into a 'cupcake thread' too. ;)

Testing my new wireless keyboard. YES!! It worxzes! :D

I had to buy a new keyboard because my new computer came with one that was so cheap that it had no 'num' key and the delete key and a few others were in wierd places.

...and I've always 'needed' a wireless keyboard anyway because when I play flight simulator my wired keyboard has to always sit between my joystick and monitor so its always been an awkward reach (for more than a decade!)

Yay for technology!

Relationships take work, yes it's true!

But when you find the worthy ones, they are definitely worth the search. :)
Interaction is the best part of a relationship. Absolutely worth the search as they can be fascinating and captivating.

If America wins the World Cup, soccer could become a major, major sport in America. That means the most patriotic thing an American can do is be for a quick disqualification of the American team from the World Cup.

I know the feeling. :( It always seems like there's never enough time to get much done on days off.

I think America lost, but I'm not sure. I didn't watch I saw a little snippet of something this morning that said, soccer upset and some guy frowning.

I actually slept last night. I may be able to get myself under control now.

I've reached a point where I don't think I can make much progress without help. Nice as it's been to meet with the pastor, I need regular meetings with somebody; a Christian counselor, I think.

I've been so messed up for so long that I didn't realize how bad it was. That's going to take some undoing, and it's going to be insanely difficult to make myself actually do it.

I don't much like me when I'm acting like a crazy person. Pretty sure nobody else does either. I know my kids need me to be more stable.

Ugh, I feel tired just thinking about it.

I never used to be this open with what's going through my head, and what I'm feeling. Now I can't make myself shut up. It's all sort of spilling out, the good and bad, the "pretty and proper" and the absurd and hideous.

I'm sorry, everyone... For all the...yeah. And stuff.
Whyyyy am I so awkward?
I have found that when you're crazy people excuse you for all sorts of bad behavior! I can be all inappropriate and say the most absurd things and people just nod and smile! Now, my advice is to not walk towards anybody cuz they freak a little.

It's one of those days where it's beautiful outside & life is grand, but inside my head I don't reflect what's going on around me. I'd swear sometimes I must be broken or defective. (now Homewardbound is going to give me an epic post w/scripture lol )

There's nowhere to run or hide from anyone or anything, and frankly I'm not even sure I have the energy to bother.

Why do I keep posting in here?

I need to do laundry. Clean clothes...detergents...fabric softeners. It's all a plot to keep us down.

I can't believe the complete lack of resources in this town. No Christian counseling of any kind to be had within two hours of here. No young women's groups aside from MOPS. No anything unless I need a victim's advocate or a place to hang out with my kids attached to my hip. Kids groups, sure (one I'd like to get my kiddos in), but for moms? For single moms? Nothing.

I think I should do something about this. I'm mad as hell at the area I live in right now. No help unless you're addicted to something or being physically abused or in need of furniture.

This is ridiculous.

I used to belong to MOPS, we had some single mom's in our group. You bring the kids but I think most of them have a place for the kids, so you get some alone time.

That really stinks though.

I admit I haven't actually gone to MOPS- I've heard good things about it and I'm not opposed to going. I'm just frustrated because I not only need something different for myself, but I've seen proof around here that others could really benefit from the type of group I'm thinking of as well.

Things we do have here:
low-income housing (but only the apartment complex where I live now, and it's just enough outside of town to make transportation super difficult)
a taxi service or two (which isn't useful to most people who live out here because hello, we live in low-income housing because we're broke)
A zillion churches, some of which band together for Love Inc., which helps with furniture or food or other desperate situations
pregnancy center, which helps with baby items
MOPS
Social Services, which helps, but they can only do so much
....there could be more. I don't know.

But what I see a real need for here is something that would really HELP single moms (and dads!)- not just once or twice, not just to get them through a few days or a super bad patch. Some way to get them on their feet- a way to meet with each other and encourage each other and even complain to each other if that's what needs to happen. Trading baby/kid items, or clothes, or furniture, or basic household necessities, so what little money they have can go towards bills or whatever. Trading services; babysitting, transportation, moving, cleaning...all the things that would be so much easier with two people. Bible studies. Someone to call and cry to in the middle of the night when your kids are sick and you haven't slept in two days and you're broke and your power is going to be shut off and your ex has been difficult and you haven't had a break in weeks...

Just something that's available all the time for single parents so they can breathe a little easier and gain strength to stand alone and hopefully, ultimately, be better parents for not being constantly stressed out and scared.

Something super simple like that...

um...excuse the rambling. But I now have an idea.

!!!!!!
