for the record this documentary will put all of the NIV KJV Geneva etc bible discussion to rest. It's just that simple. PLUS it's very interesting. I highly recommend it.

These comments always crack me up. People always say such things as 'this will put the debate to rest', but i've yet to ever see anyone post anything that actually put anything to rest, only fuel more debate.

I will only watch the video if you promise to read:

King James Only Controversy: Can You Trust Modern Translations? By James R White. Oh, and you might have to learn a little Greek to understand the book, although he did try and dummy it down for the KJVOnly crowd.

Let me know when you are done the book, and I will then watch the video, ok?

I didn't post this for any sort of argument fodder. I posted this for people who really want to learn something. This isn't just about bible versions. It's about satan, it's about the NWO. It's very informative. It's interesting to watch. On that note, I don't personally have any stake in whether or not any of you watch this. It's my hope that someone, whether today or in the future stumbles upon this and gets the chance to learn things they didn't know. I wish the best for all of you.

the number of videos and books we can read on versions of the Bible is unbounded and increasing.
what does God says about His word?

׃

(Psalm 12:6-7)

i wouldn't want to offend anyone by posting the wrong English translation ;)

oh to be fluent in Greek would be a wonderful thing. But a little bit of Greek is a dangerous thing. Someone finds a few mistakes and is quick to dismiss the whole book. One of the men on the panel of 54 men was arguably the smartest man who ever lived save Jesus Christ. They spent 7 years on it. I'd be very skeptical to trust someone who learned a couple semesters of Greek and became an "expert"

I read my bible and follow teachings it lays out for me. When I pray, I am careful to avoid praying for something that is of carnal benefit (yet ye have not, because ye ask not....[SUP] [/SUP]Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts), and my prayers are answered. By that measuring stick, my bible is proven to be God's inspired word, and it tells me all about satan. If I want to know about the world (NWO etc.), I read newspapers, and carefully ascertain what is more than likely true. I do not need one man's view on anything, unless that man is proven to be infallible. I don't know anyone alive like that today, do you?

This book is long enough to talk about pretty much everything that is in these videos. Not boring at all!! Esp. if you are into translational issues and their implications. I don't like the NIV much either, it is a little too dynamic in the translation. I prefer versions that stick closer to the original languages, so I can look up and check if I agree with what they are saying. ESV, NASB are good for that.

Hoping you read the book. You too, ChosenbyHim!

I just might add, if this is about conspiracy theories, you have posted it in the wrong forum. It probably belongs in the Conspiracy Forum.

Who told you a little bit of Greek is a dangerous thing? Someone who only reads the KJV??

The nice thing about a little bit of Greek is that it turns into a lot of Greek. The more you learn, the more you study and search and read Greek. I've been reading Greek for quite a few years since my "semesters of Greek" and learning more and more about God's Word all the time. Sometimes amazing things that simply cannot come through in the English, because we don't have cases, or the vocative, or the same kind of verb tenses.

Hebrew too, for that matter. Just so much can NOT come through in the English.

No idea which panel or which men you are talking about. I took Greek from godly men, one of whom had been studying it for 60 years. Another who read the New Testament and the Septuagint straight from the Greek, without ever having to look up a concordance. Of course, maybe it makes a difference if you have a gift for languages. Apparently God has given me that gift, since I speak quite a few languages, which is unusual for North Americans, but not for Europeans. Or many other countries.

Greek is not that hard, if you understand English, French and German grammar and have a good memory for vocabulary and grammar.

It seems that with all this talk of New World Orders, this belongs in the conspiracy section.

The King James Version Debate (A plea for realism) by D.A. Carson is also good and got me thinking back in da day.
(a third the size of White's).

What you are insinuating is that the greek writers are more honest than the greek to english translators. There is not a word in the world, that I am aware of, that cannot be understood in english. It may take several words to make the trip, but it can and has been done. I would ask you to point out just one scripture concerning doctrine, in the KJV, that has been translated in such a way as to have lost the original intent.
Anyone that has ever picked up a pen can and has made errors. It is up to us to study and seek those out, and to say that we have learn greek to do so is saying that every KJV bible is erroneous. Do you really believe God would allow His word to be perverted for hundreds of years?
I don't. I believe it to be doctrinally sound.

All I needed to see was the name Alex Jones to know I could dismiss this entirely and my life would be better for it.

there are many subjects in this thread. The NWO this is talking about is directly involving the bibles verses.

that's very awesome that you are so adept at learning new languages. I definitely don't have that talent. I have however been gifted with great research, learning, reading and comprehension skills. My favorite author is Louis L'amour- I learning from him that you first must track a man or beast with your mind before you look for sign. My research has generally been blessed that way. Learning and understanding certain truths, certain columns of stone if you will give me guide posts as to where to look next. There are certain things that I know of a certainty and the more I learn the more accurate my search.
