I got my Christmas bonus today :) went book shopping :D Now reading Poe's poems and great tales. A touch of darkness that should be quite enjoyable :)

Um, does Canada have their Christmas earlier than we do here in the US? I never got a Christmas bonus any earlier than December.

You know what, last year we didn't even get one. It came out of no where. This year staff is coming together to try to get the company unionized, and management just recently found out. Me thinks it has something to do with that- maybe trying to get on employees good side or who knows. The timing of the bonus seems a little interesting.

I haven't had any positive experiences with unionizing. What has always happened is that I end up making less take home because the union dues are greater than the net differential. Then, since the company is paying out more money in wages, they don't refill job openings, thus increasing the workload on the other employees. In the end, I ended up doing more work for less money. The only ones who get anything out of it are the unions.

I really hate it when conversations with people I care about, die out. I want to keep talking... But I can't, oh the joys of being conversationally impared

The way I hear people talk about marriage, both in real life and on here...discourages me and makes me think that the type of marriage I want is all but a myth.

I'm still holding on to hope, though. It may only be a thread, but it's still there.

Don't let anyone's pessimistic outlook stop you from pursuing your dream. With God all things are possible.

Even though i always find myself focusing on all the negatives when it comes to this topic, i have seen a few fairy tale marriages in my life. They're rare but they do actually exist :P

I totally know what you mean... people act like having a loving marriage where both people tries to do right is a fairy tale. I'm not stupid enough to believe everything will be perfect all the time , but it isn't supposed to be something negative either.

Lil_christian & Grace:

My family on the island of Cebu let me know that their area took a LOT of damage, but they made it through safely. My dad is on the island of Leyte, and despite not having internet or electricity, he somehow had cellular service, so he texted me saying that out of the dozens of tornados and hurricanes he's lived through, this is the very worst of all. He said many of his neighbor's homes were wiped out, so he opened up his rental home and now it's packed with families taking refuge. This information was from nearly 20 hours ago, though, so now I'm just praying and waiting.

Thank you again for your concern and prayers!

Glad to ear family safe along with others as well

I got another text from my dad last night. :)

his area was devastated, but he survived. His apartment now has no roof, and he thinks his car was swept away. Not that it matters, since the roads aren't passable anyway. Thank The Lord that my dad planned ahead and shipped himself a box of imperishable food before he got there... Because otherwise he'd have none. Now he's sharing what little food he has with local refugees, and today he's going to try and hike to our farm where we host our children's outreach program and check on the children and the mango trees.

Theres no power or anything so he said this could be his last contact with us for a while, since his cellphone battery was dying.

I am still heartbroken for the people there who are suffering and I am continuing to pray for everyone affected, but I am so thankful to have heard from my family. I know many others are still waiting and worrying.

After last week's Rachmaninoff concert, the director asked if I would like to do Nutcracker, which he is directing the next county over. I've always wanted to do this, and it would be my Christmas money! Here's hoping I can clear my schedule of a few things...:D

Ran into one of my old sorority sisters today at Starbucks. It was all hugs and catching up. Ending with exchange of phone numbers and well wishes 'we should stay in touch!'. 'Sure!', I reply. Knowing full well that 95% chance we will not. That's okay though. It was pleasant seeing her again.

I want to go to Texas, and I can't. Because money is stupid. I hate money. Of course, I wouldn't hate it as much of I had more...
