...if you knew for certain that you would be able to meet one or more people on your 'CC people I would really like to meet in person' list?

Please wait for the poll.

From past experience, folks don't travel for a huge meetup.
There is usually tons of talk and extensive planning.
Here are three links to a HUGE event folks looked like they had planned for 2010. They started planning in 2009.
It never happened.

It's always fun to talk about and such, but when the rubber meets the road, money, timing, etc usually get in the way.

Depends on finances and/or "cash flow" or assess to ones money to afford travel.
If one has the cash flow one can travel and fly around world no problem a .
How wonderfully delightful a little getaway.....

I may have to stand for my being seeming to be a weird charachter and thereby explain why and so forth and call for "dont judge my and dont discriminate my" for what seems and appears ...... lol

I am not living in United states but that came up as flag , explain why...

Because in the field where you choose your country of residence, you seem to have chosen USA.

Maybe if one of my favorites were in state I might drive an hour or so.....I probably wouldn't consider going any farther than that though unless I had a lot of extra free time and money to spend.

No thanks, for these reasons:

1) Money (or in my case, the lack thereof :p )
2) Scheduling. Sometimes my friend group has trouble finding a night that works for all of us to go do something. I can't imagine working with people in different states, in different stages of life to find one night that works for us all.
3) I think I like the anonymity of the online community. Perhaps because I'm way more shy and reserved in real life than online, but I like having my life separate from CC. It's why I tend to not add people on Facebook, as much as I love you CCers. :)

I sound like such a killjoy, because it would probably be fun, but like Stilly said, it's fun to talk about but pretty impractical to carry out.

ETA: If there was someone that I knew really well and they happened to be coming by my area, I might check in. It just depends on a lot of things. :)

If money weren't an issue and I knew them pretty well then I'd go most places I think. :)

<moves as far away from the mystery as possible to avoid getting stabbed>

I would do it but it would depend on the setting. For example, if it were done like a retreat type thing I would totally be all for it. As far as how far I would travel? It would depend on how long of an event. The longer the event, the farther I would be willing to travel.

Kansas City or St. Louis, that's as far as I'll go. I probably wouldn't be invited anyway.

I have to be perfectly honest. There are a lot of people I would like to meet, but there are also some I would not. :)

Those who have been around here for a while know that I have met a handful of CC users in person, and would be open to do so again in the future. To echo Stilly's post, huge planned events never work out due to logistics, however I know of numerous smaller events that have worked out that were planned among a smaller group of people regionally where the users involved lived within a few hours drive of each other.

I can think of a list of people that I have interacted with both in chat and here in this forum that I would enjoy having the opportunity to meet this side of heaven, but financial constraints limit my ability to travel any great distance.
