Jesus wasn't speaking to you.
He was speaking specifically to His disciples, and they did do the very things he said they would.
they were AUTHORIZED and empowered to do so.
they laid the foundation.
more misinterpretation by certain denominations.
if you are healing the sick (instantly); causing the lame to walk; raising the dead; causing blindness on magicians...please PROVE IT. where's the evidence?
please.
just provide the proof the abilities you say you have are the same abilities the apostles had.
if you could provide the evidence, you already would have.
no one ever does.
they make excuses.
or say..."you wouldn't believe if i showed you" - things like that.

Amen. "Claiming" something to be true doesn't make it the truth. And saving faith in Jesus Christ is neither hindered nor threatened by recognizing and understanding God's Word in it's given context. The greatness and power of our God in Christ requires no help from any with their false claims. And if their claims are not false, ante up and prove it .... as did the apostles of old in laying the foundation for Christ's church.
I have seen many things in this life, having actually attended as a visitor many different types of churches including a few different ones that believed in this same thing being discussed here. And I have known those members as in that video both in and out of their churches.
Especially for the young ones I noted that they could not live in that spirit continuously and when they got out in the world they lacked the pure knowledge of God's life-saving word of truth and so many of the ones I was privy to personally know lived as the world while in the world and the world consumed them.
This is how it became for them:
Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."
All who believe is talking to me, you can't twist that. I have prayed for sick and seen them healed, I've seen backs healed, cancer cured, and many other miracles, but even the disciples struggled with lack of faith. So no one is 100%. The disciples couldn't heal an epileptic and Jesus said it was their unbelief. Go post a thread asking people who have experienced or witnessed a miracle. If you want proof, unless you think everyone is lying to you lol.
Can someone help me out here,Why does the Greek interlinear Bible translate this word as translation yet when most of the Bible write this verse out most use interpretation? I know Strong's uses interpretation for the same word.

no, i don't think everybody is lying.
some are.
people's testimonies are what they are.
but some people are either way too narcissistic, eisegeting themselves into every text; or just can't grasp the magnitude of the power and authority the disciples/apostles had, nor the purpose....not content to have God working as HE WILLS when He wills, we have people claiming to be special conduits of special powers. this is not Biblical. cessation of those powers is.
God's intention is and always was that we walk by FAITH, not by continuing miracles.
a wicked people seeks a sign continuously - that's what He said.
we are supposed to remember what He has already done. that's what he said.
God heals. God is working. God answers prayer. God does as He wills. God loves His people. God works all things for their good.
now, if it is possible, could you please, please, please provide any documentation whatsoever that anyone today is excerising the same power and authority the Apostles had?
that's not an unreasonable request, nor should it be hard to show.

If we had a video of infant baptism, would that prove that it is scriptural? No. You knew before you asked him that such a video would prove nothing. What you do know is that the only videos on the Internet are of these wackos in Lala land. Local churches don't do videos of such things. What it looks like you're trying to do is set Ricky up with some terribly bad examples.
But you still haven't answered the question of how are these videos different then what most Charismatic churches do or do not and how do you know the difference? That is never explained. What is most often said is "That is not what we do" and it's left at that. And again how do you know that you are praising God or cursing Jesus and how do you tell the difference?
That is what we are asking,we have no problem with the fact that God can do those things. The issue still comes back to the core question IS THIS FROM GOD OR NOT and how do you know?

i have given the gift of tongues subject some prayerful thought and this is what i came up with.....as soon as God spoke creation began by fiat. before that He was alone but must have had internal dialogue with Himself making nonspoken communication a valid form of communication.....i came to the conclusion that speaking in tongues though audible is communicated .... i hate to use the word telepathically but i cant think of another word for it.....and that the audible part of the communication primarily is a focus point for those not gifted with the ability to 'hear' or translate the message given. not all people have the gift of hearing just as not all people have the gift of seeing. the prophets were called see-ers in ancient times. the caution to be given is that you must be very clear about your source if you have such a gift.....balaam had it but not only listened to God but indulged in divination and so was listening to other sources as well it was his undoing
And I noticed you once again avoided the point, and that is, entrapment is a tactic used quite often by certain people to snare people in their words. A plan has been devised, a trap has been set to see if anyone will fall into it. Then they say, "Aha, see, I asked for proof, and this is what they show me."
This was a tactic used by the Pharisees against Jesus himself. They would plan in advance what they would ask him, to catch him in his words. We know what kind of people they were. These are no different.

most charismatic churches neglect to follow the biblical model for order when speaking in tongues in the church. 2 no more than 3 should speak at a meeting , one at a time and only if there is someone to interpret. the implication from other scriptures is that it is to be done under the watchful eye of church leaders to ensure authenticity and prevent chaotic disruption of the service. whatever is said must be in line with scripture of course and it has to edify the church.

Those who are finding issue with people asking for examples now days of tongues and such, please just pause for a second and hear me out.
Your initial reaction perceives such questioners as attacking you, or being mean, or being malicious.
Please put these reactions on hold for just a wee tad second.
Just for a wee tad second assume these questions are being asked out of love and a desire for truth and right spiritual practice.
These questioners are trying to make you compare what's happening today, to what happens in the Bible. They're hoping that if you see a major difference between what you practice, and what the Bible shows, that maybe you'll change your practice that isn't in the Bible.
I was once in the shoes of someone who viewed these questioners as mean, malicious, and attacking.
But then I paused.
Then I listened.
Then I did ask myself...
"Hmmm is what I'm experiencing a solid match with what's in the Bible?"
And guess what!
What I was experiencing wasn't a solid match with what's in the Bible.
Now I'm not saying you'll reach the same conclusion as me.
On the other hand, if you're walking in error, maybe it's worth putting your negative perceptions of the questioners aside for a wee tad second or two, so you can take an honest inventory of things.
We always hear about people who cling to their "traditions". But often those who rant the most about clinging to traditions, are the MOST guilty of clinging to a man made tradition that isn't in the Bible. Maybe you're afraid to let go? Maybe you're afraid to admit you've been wrong all these years? If that is the case, then humble yourself and change. I did.
If after an honest examination of yourself, you see no reason to change, then carry on, and disengage from the discussion. It's clear you're in faith about where you practice and stand.
