Rom 8:26
And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered;

Thank you, but the groan is utterable, it is the Holy Spirit, and it is the Holy Spirit intervening for what cannot be expressed in words. I do not fault anyone for not believing they have the gift of tongues, but I do fault anyone for saying it is gibberish since they do not possess it nor can they express understanding of having the gift.

Please read the op again; it is very eloquently worded and understood.
People should not judge another's servant. The servants of Yahweh, God, do not judge them.

Please read the op again; it is very eloquently worded and understood.
People should not judge another's servant. The servants of Yahweh, God, do not judge them.
And that is another butchery. The fact is that under the Old Law anyone who so misrepresented the word of God was to be put to death as a false prophet.

That yet remains true but we do so in a spiritual way by putting them out from among us.

1 Corinthians 14:21 ¶In the law it is written, With * * other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

That is what Paul is speaking about throughout the whole chapter. The asterisks are where there were words added by the translator which were not at all in the Greek text Paul's letter is translated from.

And the most frequent added word by the translator throughout that entire chapter is the word, "unknown", showing this heresy occurred way back then at the time those translations were produced.

The whole theme of 1 Cor 14 is epitomized here: "10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them * without signification.
11 Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh * * a barbarian unto me."

Paul is speaking quite clearly about their needing to use their gift of those different kinds of voices in the world only when ones that understand the language they have the gift for are present, as to do it otherwise is just plain arrogant showing off that edifies no one, not even the one doing it but for the mundane pleasure such a one gets out of it thinking it shows he or she is special.

And even then they need an interpreter present so as to benefit the whole congregation.

12 Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual *, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.

No thanks.

That is a gross distortion of what that particular scripture means and says.

It has nothing at all to do with anything 1 Cor 14 speaks about.

Romans 8:26 ¶Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

That quite clearly speaks of no words being used at all. It is shameful to misrepresent the word that way!
they don't care.
they just keep doing it.

they don't care what the scripture says.

If you reread the teaching on judging another man's servant it is in reference to what others believe in the sight of God. Yes, it is in direct reference to what foods to eat, but it also is teaching us not to judge how another believes. If it annoys you personally that I speak in tongues to myself to pray, believe me, no one other than God has ever heard me do this. It is not something to boast about, the Giver is my boast.

Now, why are you concerned about people praying in tongues? It does not offend me if some do not quite believe the gift exists, but it is an offense to be told I must believe exactly as you or another. You are judging another man's servant in so doing. Call it what ever you wish. And why are you not addressing the Op in the first place? Why me? And why tongues?

It is only recently my faith has been opened to this wonderful and edifying gift. Why does it bother you that I believe this? Tongues will cease when this age ends. You know it does not say anywhere that the gifts of the Holy Spirit will end before the end of this age. Worship Jesus Christ, and believe Him, for there is peace in Him always, amen.

Jamie,

If this stuff is NOT from God then one is practicing divination,witchcraft,and idolatry. We need to take this very seriously,to be sure we KNOW that this is from God and not a deception from Satan. Why is that so hard to understand?

God WILL NOT take it lightly if one is practicing those things. It's one of the reasons Israel was destroyed and Judah was sent into captivity. That is how serious God takes it. He's warned us about this type of stuff and yet it seems some refuse to heed His warnings.

13 Wherefore let him that speaketh in an * tongue pray that he may interpret.
14 For if I pray in an * tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful.
15 ¶What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

What is verse 13 really saying? Wherefore let him that speaketh in an * tongue pray that he may interpret.

Literally it reads: through which the (one) speaking to tongue let him be praying in order that he may be translating

In proper exegesis to our modern lingo it reads: Therefore, let the one speaking in a tongue pray [in such a way] that he may translate [while he prays]

Now verses 14 and 15 make perfect sense with it. Paul is here saying to exercise empathy for those who cannot understand that particular voice or language, "For if I pray in an * tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is it then? .... " How would it be to you if you did not understand what you yourself were praying? Paul is counseling that they need to use empathy for those who don't understand the particular language.

Paul's conclusion then due to that? 15 ".... I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."

Now this flows right with it: 16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?
17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.
18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:
19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that * * * I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an * tongue.

20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.
21 ¶In the law it is written, With * * other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.
22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: .....

unknown just means a language that the person didn't know of.
it's referring to people of strange lips and with a foreign tongue.
that's all. there's nothing wrong with the translation.

the problem is what happened last CENTURY with the ecstatic "movement".

foreign languages/captivity under gentile people with foreign languages was a SIGN, Judgment on Israel.

even in His anger, even in His sending them into captivity under people of strange lips and with a foreign tongue where the LORD will speak to this people - JEWS (trying to teach them obedience and faith through separation and suffering) HE STILL sent them the prophets to tell the FAITHFUL that HE WOULD be true to HIS PROMISE - A Cornerstone in Zion!

Here He is talking about them going into captivity - to BABYLON where through a people of strange lips and with a foreign tongue the LORD will speak to this people...HOW? as PUNISHMENT...

He would still sends prophets to them in captivity! under people of strange lips and with a foreign tongue - not burbling in unintelligible sounds!

gentile LANGUAGES (in this case the gentile Babylonians - who spoke a real, known language - unknown to the Hebrews, but KNOWN to God...like COME ON!)

just read this!:

Isaiah 28
Judgment on Ephraim and Jerusalem
1 Ah, the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim,
and the fading flower of its glorious beauty,
which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine!
2 Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong;
like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest,
like a storm of mighty, overflowing waters,
he casts down to the earth with his hand.
3 The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim
will be trodden underfoot;
4 and the fading flower of its glorious beauty,
which is on the head of the rich valley,
will be like a first-ripe fig before the summer:
when someone sees it, he swallows it
as soon as it is in his hand.

5 In that day the LORD of hosts will be a crown of glory,a
and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people,
6 and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment,
and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.

7 These also reel with wine
and stagger with strong drink;
the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink,
they are swallowed byb wine,
they stagger with strong drink,
they reel in vision,
they stumble in giving judgment.
8 For all tables are full of filthy vomit,
with no space left.

9 “To whom will he teach knowledge,
and to whom will he explain the message?
Those who are weaned from the milk,
those taken from the breast?
10 For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
line upon line, line upon line,
here a little, there a little.”

11 For by people of strange lips
and with a foreign tongue
the LORD will speak to this people,

12 to whom he has said,
“This is rest;
give rest to the weary;
and this is repose”;
yet they would not hear.

13 And the word of the LORD will be to them
precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
line upon line, line upon line,
here a little, there a little,
that they may go, and fall backward,
and be broken, and snared, and taken.

A Cornerstone in Zion
14 Therefore hear the word of the LORD, you scoffers,
who rule this people in Jerusalem!
15 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
and with Sheol we have an agreement,
when the overwhelming whip passes through
it will not come to us,
for we have made lies our refuge,
and in falsehood we have taken shelter”;
16 therefore thus says the Lord GOD,
“Behold, I am the one who has laidc as a foundation in Zion,
a stone, a tested stone,
a precious cornerstone, of a sure foundation:

‘Whoever believes will not be in haste.’
17 And I will make justice the line,
and righteousness the plumb line;
and hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
and waters will overwhelm the shelter.”
18 Then your covenant with death will be annulled,
and your agreement with Sheol will not stand;
when the overwhelming scourge passes through,
you will be beaten down by it.
19 As often as it passes through it will take you;
for morning by morning it will pass through,
by day and by night;
and it will be sheer terror to understand the message.
20 For the bed is too short to stretch oneself on,
and the covering too narrow to wrap oneself in.
21 For the LORD will rise up as on Mount Perazim;
as in the Valley of Gibeon he will be roused;
to do his deed—strange is his deed!
and to work his work—alien is his work!
22 Now therefore do not scoff,
lest your bonds be made strong;
for I have heard a decree of destruction
from the Lord GOD of hosts against the whole land.

23 Give ear, and hear my voice;
give attention, and hear my speech.
24 Does he who plows for sowing plow continually?
Does he continually open and harrow his ground?
25 When he has leveled its surface,
does he not scatter dill, sow cumin,
and put in wheat in rows
and barley in its proper place,
and emmerd as the border?
26 For he is rightly instructed;
his God teaches him.

27 Dill is not threshed with a threshing sledge,
nor is a cart wheel rolled over cumin,
but dill is beaten out with a stick,
and cumin with a rod.
28 Does one crush grain for bread?
No, he does not thresh it forever;e
when he drives his cart wheel over it
with his horses, he does not crush it.
29 This also comes from the LORD of hosts;
he is wonderful in counsel
and excellent in wisdom.

.......

1 Corinthians 14
20Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature. 21In the Law it is written, “By people of strange tongues and by the lips of foreigners will I speak to this people, and even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord.” 22Thus tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is a signc not for unbelievers but for believers. 23If, therefore, the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and outsiders or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds? 24But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or outsider enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all, 25the secrets of his heart are disclosed, and so, falling on his face, he will worship God and declare that God is really among you.

A Cornerstone in Zion - JESUS
And the Promise of the Spirit

Acts 2
The Coming of the Holy Spirit
1When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. 2And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and resteda on each one of them. 4And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. 6And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. 7And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? 9Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” 12And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” 13But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”

Peter’s Sermon at Pentecost
14But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words. 15For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.b 16But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel:

17 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;
18 even on my male servantsc and female servants
in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.

......

what did He pour out? The Spirit!
what was THE SIGN? gentile languages.
He spoke to that stiff-necked people in other tongues (gentiles languages) just like He said he would!

Acts 2
6And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. 7And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? 8And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? 9Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.”

so what happened?
some believed and some didn't.
JUST LIKE ALWAYS. some were MOCKERS - just like He said.
that's why the PARABLES.

can anyone who speaks tongues today please tell me this is anything like the videos posted yesterday?

did God say ANYWHERE He would give some gift of NONSENSE???

some of these JEWS who heard the message FROM GOD with the SIGN of language believed, and went BACK HOME TO THEIR GENTILE NATION LIVES:

we hear, each of us in his own native language? 9Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God

carrying with them the message - the mighty works of God.

the GOSPEL.

does that match what Paul was saying?

1 Corinthians 14:21 ¶In the law it is written, With * * other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the Lord.

First I am obliged to apologize for asking you to make reference to the OP, when I had this quoted here in mind thinking it was the OP. Please forgive that.

I will continue to worship Yahweh praying to Him and to Him only in praise and thanksgiving in my mind while speaking in tongues for the Holy Spirit to edify me and the Body of Yeshua everywhere as He does with all who believe the Father about this gift.

Yahweh knows I am talking to Him and only to Him, and this should not be offensive to anyone.

All of the posts against this gift have no sound Biblical doctrine backing it up, only superstition and a lack of faith in the teachings of the Word. I am sorry if my faith offends anyone, but I know it does not offend Yeshua, Jesus.

I speak in tongues and I will go verse by verse to anyone who's open to the Spirit.

Tongues is a sign for unbelievers because they refuse to believe its of God.

Interpretation is prophesy.

There is self edification its called praying in the Spirit.

The Spirit intercedes with unintelligiblegroans.

You don't undestand it, either does the enemy, that's why you can think, pray, sing in your mind while speaking in tongues.

Corinthians forgot the love in the gift so they were interrupting service, which is why Paul said the Spirit is subject we can start and stop.

Prophesy is best in church, but I pray in tongues with other believers so the Spirit speaks and prays what we do not know.

People hearing their own language in Acts was a miracle, if people were all speaking 120 languages at once you'd hear nothing distinct.

17 “‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares,
that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
and your young men shall see visions,
and your old men shall dream dreams;

Zone, dear, I understand all of that. You miss why I have noted that is an added word. I did so because they capitalize on misunderstanding that word. So why not just remove it and consider it without what was added?

That provides the best chance to clear away the clutter so as to help them see that they make too much of the added words.

Do you understand me now?

If you agree with the point I am driving at, please work with me, not against me.

Yahweh knows I am talking to Him and only to Him, and this should not be offensive to anyone.

There in lies the question,IF this is not from God it is offensive to Him. It goes into where is it coming,if it is not coming from the Lord it is divination,witchcraft and idolatry. How hard is that to understand? Does God take those things lightly? Or is there a very high price to be paid for messing around with that stuff? And it goes to the heart of the question HOW DOES ONE KNOW IF IT TRULY IS FROM GOD? Which is the question that is NOT being answered.

Here is the major downfall of it:

1 Corinthians chapter 14 as so many of Paul's writings is focused upon teaching the proper way to love.

So long as they twist what he says they miss his message concerning how to love, at least a great part of that message.

And if they do not gain an understanding of that love Paul teaches in the spirit of God, then that will cost them and all who follow their blind path their lives.

They are left only to have an emotionally based love which is not God's love but their own, though they have confused it with God's love.

They must listen to and understand what Paul says to learn God's true love.

A quick question,When one is speaking in "tongues" how does one know for sure they are praising God and not cursing Jesus?

15 ".... I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."
this is hard for us to grasp i guess, because we just will not read the whole book of Acts, and we will not accept that the PEAK AND CULMINATION of everything that had gone before......the Greatest time EVER in the History of the world was the whole period beginning with:

God breaking His silence and sending John the baptist (Elijah, if they would receive it).
then comes Emmanuel!
The King they were Promised!

Daniel 9 coming to pass right on schedule!

The Redeemer comes...The Lamb of God.
The Servant lays down His life.
and takes it up again.

then what?

He tells the disciples to WAIT in Jerusalem.

WAIT FOR THE PROMISE.

Pentecost.
The Spirit poured out on the people THERE.

not americans or japanese....JEWS in JERUSALEM.

they received POWER FROM ON HIGH.

supernatural power. they were His witnesses.

God poured out the Gospel in all languages.

a SIGN.

of what?

And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the gentiles through faith, preached before the gospel to Abraham, saying, In you shall all nations be blessed.

Genesis 12:2
1Now the LORD had said to Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you: 2And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing: 3And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curses you: and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Genesis 18:18
Abraham will surely become a great and powerful nation, and all nations on earth will be blessed through him.

Acts 3:25
And you are heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers. He said to Abraham, 'Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed.'

Galatians 3
7Know you therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. 8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel to Abraham, saying, In you shall all nations be blessed. 9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Galatians 3:16
God gave the promises to Abraham and his child. And notice that the Scripture doesn't say "to his children," as if it meant many descendants.
Rather, it says "to his child"--and that, of course, means Christ.

can any of this be, was it ever intended to be understood or communicated through something like THIS?:

of course it's not from God.
anybody not involved in it knows that.
and people who come out of it say so.

so much talk about all this great faith and these gifts to serve God mightily.
being used by God and all that talk.

yet i wonder how many will have the courage to repent?

it might mean having to leave their friends and family or whoever else is doing this.
they will probably be shunned and rejected.

is it worth it?
i wonder.
