Murdering babies is a belief that requires denial of religious and scientific evidence. Belief in ball-Earth, 'though not as morally wrong, nonetheless requires similar ignorance of religion and science. One might say that Heliocentricity is a gateway belief to Abortionism.
Wow. Personally, I think you should be banned for the above. I knew you struggled with basic physics, but I see that basic decency and respect are far outside your capacity as well.
Why do/would you think his post to be ban-worthy?

Just exactly how does it cross the boundaries of 'decency and respect'?

why don't you quit poking your noise in and quit inflaming arguments.
why don't YOU quit poking your noise in and quit inflaming arguments.
Almost any topic or issue may be discussed without blowing up the forum if it is handled properly with sincerity.

I do not believe @Moses_Young said anything that has not been said before; albeit, perhaps, not in those exact words.

It is already well understood that many believe that the ball-earth-solar-system-in-vast-space idea is foundational for evolution - and that - evolution is foundational for abortion.

I am pretty sure that is what Moses was intimating.

I am quite sure that he was not implying that every person who believes in the Ball Earth model also believes in abortion.

Please be patient until we can get an explanation from @Dino246 as to why he made such a statement.

Simple "exaggerated misunderstanding" is often the cause of "great offense" on this site. And, more times than not, it ends up being not nearly as bad as it seems...

It could be that the topic of the earth being flat has been debunked and as such it irritates lots of folks!

Thanks for this explanation, Gary. I thought my words were straightforward, but I see they perhaps went over Dino's head. You explained my intention well, though.

While it might be true that I (once again!) overestimated the modest intelligence level to comprehend what I believed to be a fairly straightforward and simple statement, I suppose Dino's remark about banning might also relate to the Communist way of thinking which is unfortunately too common in today's indoctrination institutions - we can't debate on the facts, because we don't have them and lose every time, so let's use censorship to stop the message getting out. It reminds me of the Pharisees in Jesus' day - when Jesus raised Lazurus from the dead, they considered killing Lazarus to remove the inconvenient truth of the miracle.

I've decided to ignore you based on the above. While I can respect disagreement due to ignorance, to seek to impose censorship because you can't intellectually defend your position is the strategy of Communists. Your tactic of obfuscating what is said and denial rather than apology each time you are outed makes me suspect you are a shill, and while my responses to you have always been primarily so that others wouldn't be taken in by the false claims you make, given your apparent inability to come up with new material, I'm sure there's enough in the thread history for others to see both sides of all your false arguments. Good day, sir.

Not sure how this one caught my eye, but when it did it almost put my eye out...

There are so many kinds of wrong attached to this post. None of my family, nobody in my church, only very few people at my job believe abortion is right, but I don't personally know a single person in real life who believes the Earth is flat.

This is like saying being able to drive a car is the gateway to becoming morbidly obese. Well they wouldn't be able to get to McDonald's if they didn't know how to drive, right?

It's a personal opinion, as I said. No, his post unfortunately does not contravene the site rules.

The implication of a link between belief in heliocentrism and support of abortion is disgusting, despicable and demeaning. It's also baseless and ridiculous, but that's beside the point.

Who is to say that it has been debunked? It may be debunked in your mind, but it is not in mine.

The Bible describes the earth as:

~ being stationary
~ having four corners
~ resting on pillars

I believe these things are literal. Therefore, I consider them to be true. Therefore, as far as I am concerned, the earth cannot possibly be "a spinning ball flying through space" like we have all been taught all of our lives.

God calls the earth His footstool. Do you think the collective description above [just] might possibly fit the description of a footstool?

Do these "lots of folks" get just as irritated when someone says we came from a monkey? Or, do they just "blow it off" (in their own mind) based on their personal belief that it is [simply] not true (because of what the Bible says)?

Were we not all taught both of these - the Ball Earth model and evolution - when we were young and in school?

Why do people react so differently when statements are made about the Flat Earth model as compared to evolution?

The answer - because one of them is true and the other is not.

Remember what I said about Satan and his cattle prod...

(Otherwise, it is a 'cognitive dissonance' issue.)

But - in a way - being able to drive a car is a gateway to becoming morbidly obese.

You don't think that a teenager with a car is a gateway to many things? (some of them tragic)

A 'gateway' is in the sense of greater possibility - it is not that it will happen - but, that it could happen.

What keeps a person from going down the 'gateway' slippery-slope? Knowledge, Understanding, and Wisdom.

Placing your full belief, faith, and trust in God is wisdom - placing it in those on earth with an 'authority' label is folly.

I am not suggesting anything about being a bad citizen. I am saying that everything in a world of lies should be questioned.

"Who's your Daddy?"

Is it God the Father or the government? Who are you going to believe when there is a mismatch in what you are told about the world you live in?

Yes indeed, and getting a driver's license is the gateway to shooting people on the freeway with an automatic rifle.

It's still utterly ridiculous to say that believing the Earth is round is the gateway to abortion. Even if it was Moses, somebody I once learned a few things from, who said it.

No, aborting babies does not require one to deny religious and scientific evidence, at all. Saying so is another of your logical fallacies.

Scientific evidence: aborting baby means you will not have a baby.

Believing the earth is spherical is morally wrong?

Wow. Where do you come up with this stuff?

It is morally wrong for you to lie as you do.

Is not every post a personal opinion?

The implication of a link between belief in heliocentrism and support of abortion is disgusting, despicable and demeaning. It's also baseless and ridiculous, but that's beside the point.
It is not as bad as you think - after all, it is only an opinion. And, you should learn to think of it that way.

I understand what you are saying. I do. I really do. I just hope you understand what I am saying.

From the perspective of heliocentrism being a foundation for such things as evolution - there is a link between it and abortion; albeit, not a direct one. Certainly not one that guarantees that everyone who believes in heliocentrism also believes in abortion.

The 'gateway' that @Moses_Young is referring to exists as a slippery-slope type path that one may follow to arrive at 'abortion'. He does not mean that there is a singular straight-shot link directly from one to the other.

This kind of 'opinion' is not 'slander'. Now, if he had 'declared' that every person who believes in heliocentrism also believes in abortion - that would be a bit different. You would then definitely have more reason to say that it was "disgusting, despicable and demeaning" for him to say such a thing. However, he did not say that. Instead, you [just] read it that way.

Personally, I think he should keep a good margin away from "edgy" statements. And, it is my admonishment to him to do so. But, I do not believe - under the circumstances - that his post was ban-worthy or anywhere close to being 'slander'; rather, I see it as 'thought-provoking'.

Try not to react to 'opinions'. Consider them. Agree, disagree, or comment on them as would seem necessary to you. However, don't let them "tie you in a knot" so that you "loose all perspective" on/of what is being discussed.

:coffee:

I can agree that the statement was a bit 'provocative'; however, I understand what he meant while you and others are reacting to what he said.

I believe that his intent was to be thought-provoking - and, a lot of folks on here would do well to allow their thoughts to be provoked by his statement - so as to help them gain a better understanding of some things...

And, I am not talking about reacting; rather, I am talking about thinking.

Yes - we all lose - because, some people don't know how to have an intelligent discussion without crying, whining, etc. - and, making a big deal about - anything-and-everything that anyone says that hurts their feelings.

True. And also that others lack discernment on how powerful words can be. Hence, all losers.

Yes - words are powerful.

But - folks need to learn/know how to "handle" those words - without getting their feelings hurt - just because of someone else's opinion.

And - that means having the 'backbone' and the 'gumption' to withstand disagreement, disharmony, discord, opposition, or objectionable ideas - while remaining calm - without reacting - without getting angry or otherwise emotionally wrapped up in it - without mud-slinging - without taking the "don't say anything I might disagree with because it might hurt me" path of ridiculousness.

These folks are not losers.

These folks are what is left of the common sense and strength of what this nation used to be.

You just might be surprised at the level of discernment that does exist with some folks - if you knew about all of the things that they decided not to post... ;)

Instead of all of this unnecessary baloney that has "wasted" 25 posts (so far), perhaps an intelligent rebuttal might better serve...

While I agree with your two 'religion and science' statements, I think your last statement to be a bit of a jump away from the essence of the thread topic - as it seems to have a 'political' basis (for saying it) rather than a factual one for reasoning the proposition that has been set forth...

I understand what you meant - but - looking back - was it really necessary to add it to the post? Or, would not the first two sentences alone "without further comment" have been sufficient?
