Ah Sweets! The benefit of driving with your granny is that she won't care if you drive a bit slowly and cautiously. Excellent experience for you!
True. And I'm glad I have the opportunity to help my grandparents. I do love them, and both grandparents on my mom's side are with the Lord now, so I do cherish the time I have with them.

Sooooome people open windows and like, ventilate the room they're painting in. Others...get dizzy and nearly fall off of the chair they're standing on.

I texted my husband that I'm destroying the kitchen, and when I didn't get a reply after a few hours, I sent "Don't panic!" A little while later, he texted back, "Why do you always wait till I'm gone to do these things?!"

I could have explained that I get weird and lonely, but instead I just asked if he had his towel.

Kidding. Well, no, I did ask that, but I did explain myself, too.

Now that the windows are open, I'm gonna paint some more.

Love the Hitcher's Guide to the Galaxy reference! Now all you need is a Babelfish.

:faint: You aren't familiar with the book: "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"? A towel is a useful tool when hitching through the galaxy. :) Also, a babelfish is basically a fish that is a translator and put in your ear so you hear in your language what other's are saying in their language. :)

We sure don't mind you hanging out and getting to know us... as a group. We're mostly nice, and a little weird, and (from what I've seen...) lovers of Jesus. From what I've seen of you, you'll fit in just nicely. ;)

Yeah, traveling of our person is really tough on those of us who need/like quality time. I don't think I really understood how much his being away affected me till he was traveling weekdays and I only got him on weekends.

Slave, brother. Olerica is correct (on ya, sister!)
Also, the Babelfish was given such a name because as a translator of languages, it brings to mind the incident at the tower of Babel in Genesis 11, where God confused humanity's one language into many languages.

So I keep seeing all this video footage of all these super-cool-looking previews and events that happened at a recent convention... and I've now added something else to my "Someday" bucket list.

Way back in high school, I went to Gen Con with a boyfriend... So now, someday, I want to go to Comic Con.

And, I want to dress up as Harley Quinn (at heart, I've always been a bad girl, even though my real life often resembles that of a cloistered nun.) Sure, I might be a senior by the time I actually get there but hey.

Even bad girls eventually have to grow up, too.

(I hope they have a Geriatric Division for at least one of the Costume Contests because I plan on going for it!)

kenthomas: like forever ago you said something about whiter shade of pale. remember?

well, i happen to adore that song. i always have. a lot of music from that era is precious to me because it can transport me to the little kid, riding with my dad to someplace fun, like the santa cruz boardwalk, or candlestick park, or that long road to tahoe where we'd stop at sam's along the way.

anyway. i was at an annie lenox concert a million years ago. well, technically, it wasn't actually a concert, more like a showcase. but because it was right before she started her career and she was in between gigs, she was playing some of her eurythmics stuff along with other random stuff. anyway, and she performed it. i had chills. she hadn't recorded it yet, and was just performing it acoustically with her band. it was one of those rare musical moments where everything just stood still, the air is full of fragrant shades of purple and glitter, while all that wonder inspiring delight of unmeasured portion and excessive flowery wonder.

she had closed her set with it, and it was a small enough venue that i was pretty sure that she wasn't coming back, which seemed only fair.

it was spectacular. while her studio version of it is pretty, i find it to be a bit swollen and overproduced. anyway, your post reminded me of so much. in the very best ways. : )

Eurythmics Sweet Dreams with the strong bass hit on the eight count. You're right - the music evokes memories typically chiseled to our liking. Anamnesis. I can remember the strong four count bass hit on YesSongs "I see no good people" and my dad working out with his weights and BAM two three four BAM two three four....

Could be a certain CC member bird of prey can talk about the third trilogy?

gypsygirl: They make (or have made at least) houses with streams flowing through them. Not sure what you would do about the mold-mildew buildup though.

What I've wanted for some time is a large pad made of raised squares, set outside between the driveway and the door where people would walk across it, with water flowing between the squares.

yeah! they do. and that's where the idea came from. : ) this house also had a tree growing inside of it, with its top venting out the roof. i can't even imagine how this works, but this house was the most peacefully rustic, which is probably a great descriptor of my 'home style'. i have a giant slice of tree that i want to make a table out of, and i have more rocks, miscellaneously outdoor collected things and other random stuff that doesn't belong in a house in MY house. projects like the stream and so on remain on my wishlist until i have the time and inclination to do it, or can persuade a kindly soul to show me how without ruining something.

or until someone talks sense to me. : ) or another option that i can't conceive of at the moment.

i am also fanatical about re-purposing stuff. in fact, i love watching out for odd stuff from old barns and other rustically fabulous stuff to use. one of my favorite finds is a cool old yoke, and a a fence section that i have turned into a rack. i have an antique highchair that i use for a cookbook stand, and my grandfather's ladder for the longest time was a shelf for stuff in my living room.

one day when i have more time, i want to scout for more stuff. and more rustic ideas.

and yeah, a house that feels more like an outdoor sanctuary of joyfully serene living. i'd like that. : )
