You have to allocate some time to teach the youths simple lessons like obedience, team-building, etc. through easy games and activities. Here's a clarification - I am not talking of games like volleyball or football. I am talking of simple activities that are usually played in kids parties. This is one game that they played - A team of 8 was divided into 2 and were asked to stand facing each other. They were given a balloon filled with water. The team had to throw the balloon across each other, starting from the first person until the last one and then back to the first person. They got a point for every completed 'round'. They lost a point for every water balloon that bursted. The lesson that was taught to them - 'your lives are like every water balloon and the safest pair of hands is only Jesus'.

You see? These are simple games which can convey a profound meaning to the kids. I know what you mean by your post but I think there can be a balance between fun and worship.

Oh, I agree with you. Absolutely. I've just seen some churches go the route of playing games and not doing much (if anything) to raise up the youth in Christ. As for fun and games, that's a good example of games with meaning, but I think it's perfectly fine to also have games that are just fun and encourage teamwork and growing together as a group. :)

Indeed. Churches should plan out the worship in such a way that they bring wholesome growth and development to the youths - spiritual, health, social and mental. Each area has its own set of challenges which require different solutions. :)

I remember visiting my buddies youth group as teens. They played basketball at the churches indoor court until 'service' started. It consisted of pizza and a Pauly Shore movie.

I had to laugh when I read the article because of the name of the kid whose supposed experience the book recounts.

Tyndale House Publishers has stopped production of the book and DVD of The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven after the book’s coauthor and subject, Alex Malarkey, released a statement retracting the book’s contents.

Yeah I caught that, but I was waiting to see if anyone else would. I thought at first it was a "news" article from The Onion (a "newspaper" that prints fake news for fun) because the name seemed too much of a coincidence.

Ahem: AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

Something happened at work that happens frequently wherever I go. A person said, "Hey Isaac you know about computers. I'm looking to get one. What kind should I get?" If I had been able to answer her I would have asked a few questions as to what exactly she wants. (Believe it or not, one guy decided he wanted an Acer BECAUSE they would break down relatively quickly, then he would get a new cheap Acer every couple of years and basically have an upgrade cycle that way.) I know for myself I would get a ThinkPad because they are reliable - every ThinkPad I ever bought is still running. But different people want different things.

But I couldn't because everyone else chimed in about "I got this brand and I like it." And to compound the irony the person who was talking the most about what kind of computer she liked and didn't like was the same woman who, that very day, had said "All I know about computers is how to turn it on." In fact I had installed java on her computer just that day because she didn't know how to google, download the file and install it. To add insult to injury everyone was recommending the junk computers Wal-Mart carries, the ones that might last seven years or might break down in a year and a half.

Why would you ask me a question about something, specifically BECAUSE you think I know about it, and then listen to opinions from all the people who DON'T know about it and ignore me? Why bother asking me? Why not just ask the people who don't know anything about it?

Okay, rant over. I know it will happen again in the future, multiple times, I know I will get frustrated over it again, but for now I feel better. :)

A old friend of mine helped me build a computer once, it was from pc innovations in Cleveland Ohio. It was a desktop and it was 1996. That computer lasted 10 years! I assume that's good. It lasted through two boyfriends, my engagement, marriage, the death of a cat and my first child. After it died we bought a Dell. Dude by a Dell, remember those commercials? I didn't like it. Now we have an HP laptop, it's pretty good. I used to write papers and things on my desktop, now we watch tv shows and surf the web.

Anyone remember Gateway computers? They came in the cow boxes. Do they still make those?

Yes Gateway still makes computers. First laptop I ever had was a Gateway. When it got too slow for my use (or rather, when advancing technology required more than it had under the hood) I gave it to someone. I should have kept it. It would have been prime for a light Puppy Linux computer.

It's been proven that hugs can relieve stress.

I have a One Direction song stuck in my head and although I don't think they're horrible and glad my daughter likes them and isn't into rap music, I still want it out of my head. I need a hug!

As for me it's hard to introduce myself since I'm short quiet and look like a kid. Often time when I'm with a friend and they meet someone new and I would try to give them a hand shake after they shook my friends hand and they would just completely ignore me....then I would actually say " By the way my name is Abbey( I Don't like giving out my real name on here) they would be like " oh Hi"
.....lol yeah my friend should of introduce me but it was allright it was a challenge though lol

I'm typing this to keep from laughing.....you see you need a straight face when trying to get
a two year old to take a nap.......if you laugh all chaos breaks loose and the jumping will start....
My Sadie is going to take a nap in my room.....as Netflix is being stubborn and I can't get curious
George on the TV....so the performance begins.......hey momom.....I saw a kitty outside....hey momom
cats say meow....momom........lol. ...you get my point.......so I'm sitting here straight faced and waiting on that silly monkey to come on this TV and get her quiet........inside I really want to encourage her antics.......her mom won't let me..........big mean mom......I love being the good guy......lol

***update*****it took for ever to get netfilix up.......well it just came up...found the monkey ....
turn to look and the child is snoring.......seriously..........how does a person go from full gear
to dead stops in seconds........please God give me that kind of rest........love the girl.......my Sadie my baby..........

I personally have had doubts about Heaven Is For Real ever since I first heard about it, but there are other heaven testimonies that I think are 100% legit, like one man who was clinically dead at the scene of a horrific accident for at least 45 minutes and came back to life singing a hymn (much to the shock of the firemen who were preparing to extract his body).
