I had to be firm with my boss. I may lose my job (gulp).

no budget means no new books and nothing to do. But I told her about this months and months ago. Honestly sometimes I wonder what planet management ppl live on. Certainly they dont seem to be in touch with whats going on with regular folks.

There are managers where I work too that don't have a clue and are definitely out of touch with those that do the actual work. It is pretty lame in that you are given a task that you are to perform in a timely and efficient manner yet not given the tools or resouces to do the task.

Im just thinking of the children though going a bit nuts because now even the teachers want them to just watch tv and depriving them of real books.

If I dont stand up for them nobody will. what a crazy upside down world we live in.

Makes you wonder what is the purpose of schools, teachers, and the entire support staff if kids can learn on the computer. Of course, an actual physical appearance in a brick and mortar school provides the opportunity to acquire valuable interactive social skills. Another downside to staying at home, the younger kids will need to be a parent or guardian to be present during 'school hours'. For the record, maybe I'm a bit archiac but I prefer real books too.

It's really not all that bad for you as it really is a long extended paid vacation. As you have said, many that have lost their jobs are not getting paid anything.

Confession tonight, I’ve got a split nail and it’s annoying and hurts - anyone have any tips on how to heal it? I hear teabags help.

Hi Mel,

Yeah, I've read the advice to cut a small strip from a teabag, put it over the split, and then go over it a few times with clear nail polish/strengthener to keep it shielded. However, this never works for me and with as much as we have to wash our hands now, I'm sure the strip would just scrape off after a few washings.

What I've always done is to take a Band-Aid that will fit well around that part of the finger (not too big, not to small), put the cotton pad against the split then wrap it tight enough to keep anything from rubbing against it and causing more pain or irritation. Once the pain goes down (about 3 days?) I usually cut it down to prevent further breaking.

Unfortunately, I've never been able to save a split or broken nail -- I always have to chop it and start over -- but a snug Band-Aid (and maybe a touch of Neosporin + pain killer) will hopefully cut down on the pain.

Hope this helps!

Thank you sis, I will try this :)

@tourist I do not have super glue atm, but that could work as well. I don’t want to further damage my nails though 🥴
