was you 14 years old when you wrote that poem?
I was the age Christ was believed to have been when He was crucified, buried, and resurrected for the saving of our souls :)

sorry that last post would have been a takes backsy. Now that I see it, looks sort of odd to say the lest. I was way off. I did sounds like some teenage girls first break up. INFJ thing

If dishes were fishes
They'd all swim away
Then I'd go and catch them
The very next day
I'd have them for supper
And then I would say
If fishes were dishes
They'd all swim away! - Truman
If dishes were fishes they'd lick the plates clean
Needing no water in basins to rinse per routine
To get rid of all traces of gravy 'n' poutine

Not that I'm a lover of such French fried spuds
But I needed a rhyme or this poem'd be a dud.

:giggle:

And dishes are doozies, the doing, the mess
I really detest them I freely confess.

Much rather I'd have fishes swimming in my sink
To ponder and muse on and help myself think
Of the mysteries profound and the awe life us brinks
Instead of dishes piled up and causing a stink.

To go swimming with fishes - of mammalian species
Is dreamed of by many and this ain't no deliracy!
Nor drummed up by those in the making of seaspiracies
To lay bare the horror of fishy atrocities

Oh, no, so I'm told these dear fishies do bear
All manner of discomfit empowered to snare
Their flesh although scaly and meat bony within
There still are those, yes! Who with fish long to swim.

And just think of it, fam, if dishes were fishes
The delicacies beyond even outlandish wishes
Would be served up daily alongside spud knishes
Though caviar and sushi they'd sure hope were bishes!

I am new here, having just joined earlier today :) I am a born again believer since 2004; the following poem I wrote in 1988.

I'm so confused
What did I do?
The Bible says I'm evil.
Have I lived most of my life
In the grips of the devil?

Why was this?
I think I know:
Insecurity had me in it's throes.
Love I was afraid to show
And so I lived in darkness.

But what is evil?
Self esteem?
Following your heart-felt dreams?

Surely God on glorious high
Takes no delight to see me cry.

His love for me I must believe
Because of Him we were conceived;
Love is where I long to be
And so live in His likeness.

But what is love?
Does anyone know
Just what it is
We're supposed to show?

What kind?
How much?
Where does it go?
Who determines our love's flow?

Are we really in control
When sitting at the wheel?
For reason still eludes me
When I think on how I feel.

Are we the same?
Are we to blame?
What forces shape our lives?

Science looks for answers
While our spirits we deprive.
How old were you when you wrote this poem? If you don't mind me asking?

Spider weaves his web and waits
In watchful wary silence
The prey's in sight
And coming closer
He can almost taste it

Victory is his he knows
For he can bide his time
He knows revenge is sweet
When there's a victim on the line

And wait he has
So long he's had to wait
To claim this trophy

Wove endless rays
Of welcoming warmth
With which to trap his quarry

There's no escaping
Once you're fixed
On flaxen filaments

Of wordless waxing wondrous wires
Wrapped 'round your heart's content

Silken soothing Oh! so smooth
And sumptuous are the strings
That draw me ever onward
To the font of my love's spring

Enraptured creature hypnotised
'Neath Spider's guarded gaze
Caught up beyond redemption
In this most mysterious maze

Spider contemplates his ploy
How best to recompense?

Suspended wearied waiting too
The bloodshed shall commence

This poem if very well written. It impacts me as the seduction of the evil one, the spider. And the feminine innocence and open heart of the writer, the witless [butter]fly, bleeds through.

I think your poem is beautiful.
But 2 lines are of immense importance to me.

Are we really in control
When sitting at the wheel?

Those words go to the gist of a very deep proverb of Solomon.

Proverb 16:9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

On the surface this verse seem superficially simple to understand and absorb.
But there really is a hidden meaning not discernible to most that can set us free.

John_8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

I am challenging you to find that hidden meaning. (By the way it has nothing to do with mysticism)

My understanding is simple. What hidden meaning do you see?

God's love guides us beyond the limitations of our life's circumstances.

God is sovereign over all.
Expecting God to direct the steps of his children (the elect) is obvious.
But God also directs the steps of all others including those who are outside of his kingdom.
Can you guess how he does this?

You sound a bit dubious about the poem that you just read.

Well I guess, that is the natural reaction of a Christian.
That is why we must differentiate between spiritual and secular (worldly).

We are in the world but we are not of the world.
Thus if we are unable to differentiate between secular and spiritual (worldly) then we are in for a very bumpy ride and a rude awakening.

All our families might be secular, our mother, our father, our siblings etc. We must be able to draw a line between our love for them and our love for God. If we don't then we are as blind as a bat and do not know what true love is all about.

Jesus changed the meaning of love when he said a new commandment I give unto you.
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Before it was this:

Luke 10:27 And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Now unless you have the Spirit of God within you, you will be totally baffled. Especially if you are a thinking man.

I won't tell you the answer as you probably will learn nothing. Therefore I challenge you to search the scriptures and come up with the proper answer. It is not any different as if you were working out your own salvation, as advocated by Paul, the apostle.
