My only qualm with beheading is that it is so very un-American.

Did you BOTHER Listening to your own candidate?

Interviewer : "So we're going to chop off heads?
Trump: "We're going to do things beyond waterboarding, PERHAPS, If that happens to come."
https://youtu.be/f0zDCElZJ7g

I didn't realize someone actually tried to take that quota off the internet by taking it out of the one I posted a minute ago. But I Know it was in the video I posted on the other thread (you were on) And I know it's on this on!

I dare all Trump supporters to watch this one!
I double dog dare them to not watch it :)

I've spent a lot of time working thru the thought process and I have a pretty good understanding of why people get stuck in theirs. It's something that quite frankly interests me way more than politics. When I encounter someone who is not self critical that tells me from the get go that they have a closed mind. I actually prefer conversing with someone like Post because he doesn't just agree with me and challenges me in a healthy way to consider my point of view from another perspective. It's based on a mutual respect in spite of disagreement. I don't want to be told that I'm right....but I also don't want to be told I am a fool or whatever either and that will shut me down quicker than anything. I don't want to be convinced by force. I wanna know things in my heart.
I think that if you spend some time on The Mimetic Theory, it will be quite surprising to you what you may learn that so many people have never even considered.

Even when he starts right out with why a toddler will actually resort to violence to get a toy he/she previously had no interest in, whatsoever... when they happen to notice that it seems to be of value to another child. Then going further to how we ostracize a neighbor for their property enhancement choices that don't align with the desires of the majority of people on the block.

It is truly fascinating.......... and only gets more so when he looks at what we did to Jesus.... and many of the instinctive reasons behind it.

If you don't think that every red blooded man in America who loves his family doesn't think like what Trump is saying here you are really fooling yourself. I've said this before and it is this......"I've considered if there was a sacrifice I wouldn't make for my child and I couldn't come up with one".

And if cutting off the head of a monster saved his life I'd do it all day long.

Why! Trump is YOUR candidate. AFRAID someone who supports him might hear him say something horrible, something they may not agree with?

I watched it. Big deal. More hyperbole. Of course he isn't going to back down from looking like a tough guy.

In aggregate though, Trump is right. When you are dealing with an enemy with a largely medieval mindset then you must condescend to his level of brutality if you have any hope of getting through to him or, in the worst cases, defeat him utterly. This is a rule of war since men went at each other with clubs.

It is? Have you read much of our history? The only difference between us and other nations is the traditional methods we employ to brutalize people.

That is more or less what I was communicating.

And the only reason we might kill terrorists by beheading (instead of our other favorite ways) is because of the implications "beheading" might carry for his fellow countrymen.

In case you never noticed, they laugh at most of the punishment we consider horrific. You have to get into your enemy's head to full understand the things HE fears.... NOT what YOU consider bad. If it doesn't scare HIM, it is often useless........ He is proud (and often eager) to die by one of our "silly" methods.

I completely agree with getting rid of terrorists but you can't condemn an entire religion.

Of course you can condemn an entire religion. Christians are condemned every day. And Islam is a false evil religion so it SHOULD be condemned.. JMO

Hmmmm... You might have something here. I am of a divided mind given the effective British response to sati.

Be it so. This burning of widows is your custom; prepare the funeral pile. But my nation has also a custom. When men burn women alive we hang them, and confiscate all their property. My carpenters shall therefore erect gibbets on which to hang all concerned when the widow is consumed. Let us all act according to national customs.- General Sir Charles Napier

We aren't gonna love Islam to death. It isn't going to happen. We are gonna have to kill them to death. That is just the reality on the ground. Trying to intermingle Jesus teaching on loving your enemies with this fact is perpetuating a lie that will get your friends and neighbors at the business end of an axe themselves. As far as illegal immigrants...we need to hold them accountable to our laws and they need to learn that they cannot immigrate illegally by upholding and enforcing the law.

All they have to do is go look at a few old Cowboy Movies, and see how certain Indians wouldn't attack at night. Whether it was true or not, I have no idea, but the movie producers played up the idea that Indians supposedly feared that if they were killed by an enemy at night, their spirit would not go to the happy hunting ground.

Many religions, today, have similar superstitions concerning death.

And, (even though I know that I ignore His teaching here... as do many of us), Jesus said to do neither. Not to kill, AND not to take revenge upon those who do.

It reminds me of the idiotic response to terrorism people have. "We shall live as we have always lived! This is your middle finger, Terrorist!"

Yes, living as you have always lived in response to a danger is always a good idea. I should try the same thing when I see a diamondback lying in my path.

It's a tangled web we weave, but it boils down to....... Do we REALLY believe Jesus? He said whoever would save his own life will lose it. And, we try so hard to twist that into some kind of "Spiritual" meaning...... when He went through it, physically!

We are speaking in regards to the government though, not personal conduct.
