The issue is with the side effects of the medicine. I causes a high incidence of heart problems. Doctors have reservations about giving a medicine to cure a disease and the cure killing their patients in the process.

My theory is that regardless of what the US gov't is doing or not, or trying to do, that this pandemic is going to kill a lot of people. If people don't continue to self isolate, we will get a second wave, like the Spanish Influenza in 1918-19.

Read about the Spanish Influenza before you make up your minds. The big issue with that terrible flu that killed millions, was the gov't lied to them. They told everyone to wear a mask and continue as normal. Soldiers in army camps were hit particularly badly. More people died of the Spanish Influenza than were killed in WWI. Many of the soldiers who fought in WWI survived the war and died of the flu. There weren't enough people to work in the docks or the trains. The country ground to a stand still. Hundreds of thousands of people died of starvation, because no one bothered to feed them!

The thing about COVID-19, is it is asymptomatic and takes days to know you have it, meanwhile you could have shed the virus on literally hundreds of people. Plus, there is no herd immunity at all, so anyone can get it! Some people won't be bad, yes! But it will continue to make the rounds killing people, unfortunately. Especially if everyone rushes back to work, long before the pandemic is over!

Thats why the goal is it to hold the infection down, so that the medicine system will not collaps. The side effect is an economic desaster which is for some countrys much more worse then the pandemie itself.

Now protest are going on across many states in US to lighten the restrictions in place. The Gov. of KY always gives a 5 pm debriefing daily of the coronavirus situation. Yesterday there were protests going on outside the state capitol and they could be heard loud and clear while the Gov. was giving his daily debriefing. Protesters were yelling things such as "we want to work" .... Not sure how this is going to go now. Guess, all we can do is just wait and see how it's going to go. I

So far has been spot on...mitigation and containment were absolutely necessary.
Herd immunity not a good goal in the absence of a strong health care system.
South Korea and Taiwan very prepared .....economic loss far less than what what is happening here.

Finally there could also be a scenario of not being able to find a 💯 effective antidote come a vaccine ie similar to HIV where the world would have to live with this phenomenon, the difference being that it is more infectious and may become seasonal like influenza although with a 10 times higher fatality..

I feel that no individual or scientist is equipped to theories on the behavior of this virus at this point of time as A . It’s too early in the day plus we are yet to find a vaccine and lack adequate information on its characteristics and behavior... due to the resurgence of the disease plus patients falling sick again.

Well death in the midst of a pandemic is not accurate because of the stress on the system and differing views on how to designate the death.

Like in China and Italy so many people died outside of the hospital makes it difficult to be accurate.
China recently added to the death rate because of this fact.
