my family isnt a huggy family either
but we had pets.
Also, when I started working in schools children would come up to me and hug me at random. I think Diana was a real people person but the royals get trained to put distance between them and outsiders.

Its protocol to curtsey etc I dont know where that comes from but they dont want people getting too close cos of assasination attempts etc. They have royal protection officers like US presidents have secret service agents. Basically bodyguards.
I know they can't be that way with general public but family I don't understand at all... But then again family might want to kill you too sometimes.

This thread is a good example of CC I think....in that there are a lot of people who have things they want to say, but DID YOU READ THE BOOK?

NO?

Then you don't know what you are talking about.... same thing with the Bible if you don't read it how can you really have a strong opinion on it?

I haven't read all of Spare yet but I am done with the first section and it would be nice to talk with other people who have read Spare and not just barking like dogs...about the noise they heard from the press or a tabloid... just saying.

One thing I dont quite understand is the hate on Meghan for those that havent met her or even know her. And why do people continue to call her by her maiden name when shes actually married.

Its like they did that with Kate as well, kept calling her Kate Middleton long after she got married.

the hate on Kate was mean but the hate on Meghan seemed worse and those of us whove suffered racism and microaggresions all our lives can empathise. I think she could have learned to ignore it though, or at least the cyber bullying.

But the going through garbage dumps and helicopter spying maybe not. Not sure what, if anything can be done about paps when they want something, anything on you.

Diana used to block photogrpahers with her tennis racquet or big sunglasses, but she couldnt stop anyone from taking pictures of her in her gym clothes and plastering it all over the papers like it was big news.

I remember one story made front page news and all it was about was how Diana wasnt wearing a bra underneath her shirt. ?! whatever. lol

Landmines? still killing innocent people didnt seem important to some hack reporters.

I remember I waited a long time for Becoming by Michelle Obama as well, but I did read it. I didnt end up reading Barack Obamas latest book though. I HAVE read Donald Trumps Art of the Deal book.

No they do a heap of engagments and are very busy. They are like cultural ambassadors. They dont just do public air kissing like celebs in america do.

The press in UK can be vicious though. Fleet street has always been known for muckraking. They have a 'page six' which is basically a nude pin up that gets printed every day.

Paps also get paid a huge bounty for stories with photos. Theyre kind of like what TMZ is in thhe US. Royals also have their own reporters and comms teams.
They are very much involved like an embassy is. Here in Nashville we have a Japanese Embassy office because of the volume of electronics that the music and video industries use here.
If we needed Sheffield/British/Wales Steel...we would deal first with the Royal family and then we could get what we needed.

The paper industry (what little is left here) uses high strength precision valves in the production of paper. UK's valves got everyone else beat with theirs. (That's how I came into contact with the guy who taught me)

There's lots of products the UK can and do export. Usually high quality goods of some sort. Other than BMWs or booze most people here in the US don't really know what they have to offer.

But you know....the "Brits" got a saying about us "Yanks"...."Overpaid, Over Sexed, and Over Here!"

I am not that surprised that Harry married Meghan, an american actress.

He was linked to Britney Spears at one point and people speculated that they were going to be an item. Can you imagine?

Harrys british/english girlfriends all dumped him because the spotlight on them was so intrusive, I think he needed someone who was going to be used to all that..or the ability to act/present onself. something all actresses do, despite what they really may be feeling inside.

When meghan shared that she was feeling vulnerable, the media pounced. A royal is not supposed to say shes vulnerable! Heaven forbid she has any feelings of her own on the matter! Shes supposed to look good at all times and smile!!

anyway, hollywood, tv, films, music, is a huge american export and enormous market. It basically is USA selling itself to the world. To ignore it is unrealistic, even though much of it is show and tell, smoke and mirrors.

Meghan is the racist. With a capital R. It isn't just about the royals. She insulted my whole country continuosly.
She hates us and made no attempt to hide her contempt.
No one in this country knew she was "black" until she started banging on about it. Who could tell by looking at her?

She was given a fairy-tale wedding most women can only dream of, all paid for, but it wasn't good enough.
She was given a house. All she did was complain, drive long-serving members off staff out of their jobs with her rude,
obnoxious behaviour. She is a manipulative, narcissist liar.

Some people like being victims of racism because they can make a living out of that industry.
They want to be victims of "racism" but must manufacture because it doesn't exist to the extent they NEED it to.

Some people have real problems. Migraine Markle is a con-artist.
The Royal family accepted that ghastly woman graciously. A future king walks you down the isle at your wedding and you
have the bare-faced front to call him a "racist"? Not rational. It was she who didn't accept them. She had no intention of
being part of that family.
Racist against what - white or black she is both.

wonder what country Lucy is from when she cant even tell just by looking at Meghan that she is biracial. ?!

Meghan loved her wedding from all accounts and I would doubt that she would have complained and 'driven long serving staff out of their jobs' for a non royal would not be used to having paid servants! she probably wanted to do everything herself. I mean royals have people that dress them and run their bath for them while a non royal would have been used to dressing themselves, buying their own clothes and running their own baths.

So to make a big deal about what is probably a miscommunication and different expectations is to lack empathy..for both parties.

I think ppl have to call out racism for what it is and confront it. Charles never struck me as overtly racist but Prince Phillip certainly was and often treated foreigners with contempt and would say rude remarks about them, trying to make out like it was funny, because he assumed they wouldnt undertand english anyway. Not sure how the Queen put up with him really.

I think with the deaths of Harrys grandparents he and Meghan could have waited to see a change in established royals and their servants attitudes but maybe he just had enough of all the drama. Hes not the first to leave his parents behind when he got married actually it is Biblical to do so, to cleave to your wife. (who was not born royal anyway...in the olden days, royals only married other royals, like their distant cousins or even close cousins! Hence all those Hapsburg chins and heomophiliacs in the family)

So not sure what the big deal is over Harry leaving the royal family and having a life and new family of his own. Its just inevitable.. Why the outcry.

with the Queen, her husband Phillip was already royal when she married him, he was already a prince. (albeit an impoverished one) He was not a 'commoner'

Diana also came from an aristocratic family, her father was an Earl.

When William marrried Kate, her pedigree was also maligned for being merely 'middle class'. Unfortunately many Brits are snobs when it comes to race and class, and it clouds their thinking.

Megan is too busy being a Mom and living life to be part of conspiracy theories. Been reading too many tabloids?
No, spend most of my time reading the Bible.

The whole world lies in the evil one, and Satan can give it to anyone he wishes, or did you really think that didn't include the $28 billion of the official Royal family wealth.

Lord Jesus you promised that nothing would be hidden but all would be made public, we pray that those who know the truth concerning the Royal family, the death of Diana, Prince Andrew's involvement with Epstein, Meghan's involvement with witchcraft, and King Charles involvement with FreeMasons, we pray these ones will confess their sins, repent, and speak boldly concerning the evil that is done in secret, may it be shouted from the rooftop and all these platforms on the internet.

er ok

what about Wallis Simpson, I dont think people cared about her after King Edward abdicated and she couldnt get what she wanted, though she never really told her side if the story. All the quotes from her were about how 'one could never be too rich or too thin' and it didnt seem like she was charity minded at all.

For some people it was a romance but for others its like she was just another american gold digger.

Spare is selling at the local bookstore for $54.95 in hardback and apparently not many people are buying. I think the royals have over saturated the media so that ppl are sick of them and the tabloids can think of nothing else to write about, so they make up petty disputes.

actually Wallis Simpson DID pen a memoir, called The Heart has its reasons.

It was published in 1956. Havent read it though. Wallis didnt actually want Edward to abdicate but he did it for her without her consent and then was too late, they then spent the rest of their lives in exile (and possibly misery...who knows? )

I dont know if its the case for Harry and Meghan but seems like it was a mutual decision for them to exit.

anyhow, if that hadnt happened then Edward would have been King and there would have been no King George or Queen Elizabeth ....if Edward had children with Wallis but it seemed like she was infertile. So maybe it wouldnt have mattered that much anyway. People that marry into the royal family cant lay claim to the crown anyway, only the heirs.

By all accounts Edward loved Wallis, but she didnt truly love him. Marriage of convenience?

Anyone that marries into the Royal family will be accused of social climbing anyway. Unless they marry their cousins. Besides, its no fun being royal, protocol is that you have to be seen doing good at all times, and take good photos, or selfies. You cant pick your nose lest anyone see and puts it on media like its big news.

Also, every stress pimple is going to be visible.
