The fire in that scriptures means His good works will not count for anything.. Meaning He will be Saved because he believed Jesus and trusted in the Atonement But he will not be called great in the kingdom of heaven, he will be called least in the kingdom of heaven because he either failed in shining the light of salvation well as He should have or believed in and promoted doctrines not in alignment with scripture..

Catholic monks studied scripture for years and I have no doubt they learned much. Unfortunately they arnt the ones writing doctrine. Pope as Christ on earth, Mary as co-redeemer, are two of many and both are blasphemy. God gave us free will and we all have a choice. Redemption or hell.

People should focus on what is REALLY egregious in the Church (any chuch, btw) not what is SAID to be wrong by... whomever.
I notice that generally speaking Protestants focus on things "wrong" with the Church that are NOT egregious or even wrong in any way, while ignoring the HUGE elephant in the room..

you should have said being anti Cahtolic is not NECESSARILY prejudice.
I have met MANY Protestants who reject not only Catholicism but Catholics. THAT is prejudice
then there are Catholics who are discriminated against and persecuted. THAT is prejudice and it needs to stop. Blacks are not the only ones.. gays are not the only ones who should be protected from hateful actions... .
I myself, as stated numerous times b4, have issues with the Catholic Church. But I.. unlike many others.. KNOW the faith. You cannot know the Catholic faith well simply by going to Mass on Sunday or (and/or) being, as one person said, an altar boy. You have to delve into history and the teachings of Aquinas and others...

You dont have to justify being catholic to anyone. But saying there are no alternatives is false. I know at least two churches within 15 minutes of me that preach Christ crucified and hell is hot. There is also St. Patricks here and i went to mass a few times. Got there early once and saw the priest leading a group doing the hail Mary chants. Looked like something out of Indiana Jones. Last time i will every darken the doorway of a catholic church.

well, u are entitled to interpret scripture as you please. That means you have chosen to be your own pope. That also means that everyone else is also his or her own pope
but t hat is not how Jesus set up His Church. He set it up to have ONE human head or leader which was first St Peter and then the other popes. Yes, i know... other popes were not exactly in the mold of St Peter, to say the least. So sometimes we kind of have to be "our own pope" in the sense that we have to figure out what is true and separate the truth from all the falsehoods ubiquitous in the world...
So... that being the case, my opinion on whatthat scripture means is just as important and valid as yours.
And I prefer my own opinion so called. The passage clearly says that the man's WORK will burn yet he hmself will be saved YET AS THROUGH FIRE
As one canonized saint has said: The same fire that burns the damned purges the saved.. (may notbe exact words but almost)

canonized saint meaning a twister of the scriptures that the false catholic religion is in league with and approves..
All real Christians are Saints.. They do not need some papal hierarchy approval to be deemed Saints..
It really is sad to hear you are a convert to the evil religion of catholism.. But you are responsible for your own dealing with the Gospel.. I hope the moderators keep a very close eye on you and prevent you from preaching the false doctrines of the catholic religion on this forum..
