dont wear sandals that are too tight... the straps have holes in them so they can be adjusted.

according to wiki, the main culprits of these crimes against podiatry are Germans and people that live in the Pacific Northwest. Maybe they just dont want anyone to see their toes.

I really wanna cut my hair off super short. I have never been confidant enough to do it before but finally wanna go through with it. However my husband likes my hair long. I asked him if it would be ok for me to cut and of course he said he wouldn’t like that. I want to respect him but also really want to cut my hair. My question is, is it biblical for me to have to listen to him? I know the way I worded makes it sound like he is being controlling but long hair is his preference. I knew this from the beginning. That is just what he is attracted to, the same way I like for him to keep a beard. What is y’all thought?
Sometimes a risk can be a good thing, i think you should test the waters if your confident enough. Hair does grow back after a while.

I can understand it if a husband did not want his wife to cut her hair like this: View attachment 219669 View attachment 219670
Its so unfortunate that this is the standard of beauty for most men: View attachment 219671 View attachment 219672
I'm really sorry for these men because most women want variety when it comes to their hair. Short hair styles like these are quite cute: View attachment 219678 View attachment 219674 View attachment 219679 View attachment 219677
Funny how you picked the most extreme examples of long hair and labeled that "the standard". I like long hair on women, but wouldn't like it that long. Most guys I've spoken to wouldn't want a woman with hair that long. So using those extreme examples paints a false narrative of what mens tastes Actually are.
Personally I don't care for anything that I view as masculine on a woman. Short hair, 98% of the time, seems masculine to me.
But thanks to modern "feminism" it's become in fashion to put down whatever men express as an preference as if it's, by default, bad and wrong.

I later made this comment: Well if anyone wants to grow their hair out, then they should definitely go for it, if that's what they want, not just to please someone (My opinion. Perhaps its bad advise considering the fact that I'm single but anyhoo) Post #35

No I actually have not. Since reads everyone’s opinion, I have opted not to.
Oh I’m so glad you have kept your beautiful long hair; the Bible says it is your glory, and also I was thinking, when I read your post, that it also says to do unto others as we would have done to us, and I’m guessing you want your husband to keep his beard. Also if you had it it and regretted it, it takes such a long time to grow it again. My daughter has beautiful long hair, and I am always trying to get mine longer because I damaged it with hair bleach; I’ve actually prayed for my hair to grow faster and it is😃Long hair is so feminine and in this age when women are being robbed of the femininity that God gave them, I say, “Let nothing persuade you to be robbed of your tresses!!” 😁👌🥰

There’s a saying ...’Happy wife, happy life,” so I reckon it works the other way around too...”Happy husband...”🤗

Also there are many verses about a woman having respect for what her husband wants; so disregarding this would be disobeying they Word and wouldn’t be wise if you ask me. x

Long hair is so feminine
OK. So what advise would you give to someone who has short hair, who thinks they are not feminine or beautiful because they can't get their hair to grow?

What about the woman who always has her eyes on other women's hair, wishing that she had hair like theirs?

What about the woman who has bought just about every product on the market that promises to grow her hair, only to be sorely disappointed?

What about the women who don't feel beautiful without hair extensions, the ones who feel that they stand a better chance of attracting a partner if they have long hair?

What advise would you give these women?
, “Let nothing persuade you to be robbed of your tresses!!”
What about the ones who were robbed of their hair and had no choice in the matter? The ones who lost their hair because of cancer or alopecia? Would you say when these women lost their hair, they ceased to be feminine?
I’m so glad you have kept your beautiful long hair;
Is short hair not beautiful too? An elderly woman who decides to cut her hair because she finds it easier to manage that way, has she lost her beauty?

Its quite fine to have long hair, but I reject the argument that long hair is more feminine or beautiful than short hair. And a woman who is bald is just as beautiful and feminine as the woman with long hair. This is quite different from the woman who is seeking to be masculine.

I don't think she meant it that way but you do bring up some good "alternative" perspectives.

I don't think long hair is necessarily "feminine" exclusively but that we are attracted to certain attributes typically. Moving "past the flesh" and the outward appearance to the spirit within puts a lot of these things WAY down the list. To the point where some of them become almost "wishing well" lists. Or pipe dreams.

Personally I am interested in the deep desires and longings of my heart to be fulfilled, small surface level stuff (while nice) is just "extra" if it is counterproductive to one's spiritual walk. To put it differently, if it brings up fleshly wants and wishes "unreasonably" (A/C temp in a house for instance)...then it should be taken captive and submitted.

Hi Kim
I think that the truth is, if you can have long hair then why wouldn’t you? Most women can grow their hair and if there is a reason they can’t then I do feel for them but that was not the point of this thread. I personally like hair extensions, a lot: and there are many enhancements a woman can use to beautify herself and there is nothing wrong with that Biblically provided that she does not neglect her inner beauty, or make the mistake of thinking outward beauty is more important. In the Bible we see examples of even God Himself speaking of adorning His wife with various types of jewellery, another instance is when Queen Esther went through a year of beauty treatments before she was chosen as Queen, and also one of Job’s three daughters was given the name Keren Happuch which means a little box for eye shadow. The Bible also mentions Sarah being beautiful in old age.
If women are looking with envy at other women then that is a heart issue, but what is wrong with admiring another woman’s beautiful long hair and being happy for her? We can accept ourselves as God made us because there is far more to a Godly woman than her outward appearance, however, if the question is how may she please her husband and also, does the Bible say that long hair is a glorious thing well I stand by what I have said. Why would a woman want to cut off such a beautiful thing? I have to disagree with you about short hair being as feminine, it just isn’t, and generally men prefer women to have longer hair; but I will always admire seeing a lovely, feminine young lady on tv, having a date, and she was wearing a wig due to alpoecia- when she told the guy about it, he asked her to remove the wig, and she was so courageus and she did! He wanted her to leave the wig off for the evening and so she did; it was very moving and he obviously was valuing her as the wonderful person she was overall. But if you asked her would she have her hair back if she could then sure, she would have her hair back.
I hope when I am an old lady I have long hair, perhaps taken up, but I think to have longer hair is worth the effort and I hope I am able to care for my long hair even in old age.
It is heart breaking when any kind of illness causes hair-loss and most women are very happy if/when their hair grows back.
As for women who are robbed of their hair well that is plainly wrong as is robbing women of anything. These are not reasons to not appreciate long hair.
There are many women with Afro hair who grow it long and there are many ways to care for it, extensions are not always essential.
But all of this was not really the issue; the issue was, if you have long hair that your husband likes and wants you to keep, then why would you do something so drastic as to cut it when long hair looks glorious? 🙂🦋x

WOWWWWWW

At first I thought you got this from an extra-biblical source because I didn't recall reading it in Job. Goes to show...

Thanks for opening my eyes to it :)

Dont cut your hair if you cherish to please your husband above yourself.
1 Corinthians 7:34
[34]There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband.

My .002 cents worth.

When I was younger I went to a Pentecostal church where extreme " holiness" was expressed in the outward appearance.
I now have the first pic hair Kim showed.

All we ever heard was no....no....no,even to plucking your eyebrows.

My spouse passed and I left that religion.
Our glorified bodies WILL BE as God wants them, but we are measured by Him on our spirituality not by our looks.

My body belongs to God and me and I try to keep my vessel healthy and pray for the prescious inward things from Him to come forth, compassionate heart, kindness and caring,a helping hand, being a friend or family member others trust.

We make choices everyday, let our choices reflect Him.

I realize for some this is a big "ISSUE", others not so much.

We are all beautiful, now we must be HAPPY where we are!

There is an interpretation of I Corinthians 11 that the 'covering' refers to hair and that Paul is saying women should have long hair. I"m not saying that is definitely right, but it is in there.

I read a blog post that said men like long hair and that women who told other women they were 'cute' with short hair subconsciously viewed these other women as a threat and were trying to eliminate the other women as competition for male attention. Most women cannot pull of a young Sinead O'Conner look and still be pretty like she was in her youth. The bald woman on Star Trek was also an exception. For me personally, I dislike short hair on a woman. Especially for the very short hairdos, they detract from how feminine a woman looks and therefore how attractive she looks. It doesn't matter if it's just some woman on the street, but if it is a man's own wife-- a man wants to be attracted to his own wife. Would you want to take that away from him or diminish that attraction in any way? How would you like it if he got a skull tattooed on his face because he wanted to express himself, and you had to look at that? What if it was a temporary tattoo that only lasted a few months, like a haircut, but you had to see something you considered unattractive on him every day.

The Bible says for a wife to submit to her husband. You should submit to your husband. Maybe you could show him some long hair styles that don't significantly reduce the length.

its kinda weird but for me personally whenever I get my long hair short people always compliment it and say it looks better short. Only a very few are like YOU CUT YOUR HAIR???
See my comment about women eliminating competition for male attention. :) Seriously, you get skewed information from compliments like this. People who like it say something. People who do not or do not care usually say nothing about it.

Personally I think when you are married your husband DOES control you. But you actually signed up to be controlled. You both have power over each others bodies so if you told him to stop wearing socks with his sandals he kinda has to do it or feel your wrath.
You make marriage sound kind of scarey.

No!!!! has he ever cut his hair or beard and grown it out ...double standards plus do what ever you want because ,if all he cares about is your appearance that is lust not love...
The word translated 'lust' Jesus uses in Matthew 5 is a form of the word used in 'Thou shalt not covet' in the LXX, the Greek New Testament of the day. Why would what you describe be 'lust'?

And who __only__ cares about their spouses appearance.

I think you should stick with what your spouse prefers, for now, while working to get him to accept you with alternative hairstyles. It's actually a really superficial thing to split hairs over hair. Besides, short hair looks really good on some people. Try to work toward having harmony where each of you are happy with how you want to style your appearance.

Not at all sure what you are saying here, I can't make sense of it.

But I'm quite shocked and disappointed to see Christians promoting tall hair as the standard of beauty or what is acceptable for a woman's hair and using the Bible to back up their arguments. This is truly shocking indeed. I'm simply baffled.

I guess hub and I are really different, not that we don't already know this,
and have been told this also - but, in our 'marriage', we care and honour
what our mate prefers, in every instance, above ourselves...
Hub is the head of the house, but we are subject to one another and focused
on the Will of God above all things...
our 'out-ward appearance' is not a 'high-priority!!!...
over the years we both have had 'long-short-inbetween' hair -
shaved-bearded (not me-wife), and it was 'ALL-GOOD'...
but, we both AGREE that (blue-pink-purple-green HAIR is a BIG-NO-NO...

The Bible tells wives to submit to their husbands. It doesn't say for wives to express themselves through their hair or to try to look cute to themselves and other women.

That's one aspect of it. If there was something I wanted to do like this that my wife would find unappealing (e.g. getting a mohawk), I would not do it if my wife considered it unattractive. Who else is it that important for me to be attractive for besides my wife?
