Hi Kim
I think that the truth is, if you can have long hair then why wouldn’t you? Most women can grow their hair and if there is a reason they can’t then I do feel for them but that was not the point of this thread. I personally like hair extensions, a lot: and there are many enhancements a woman can use to beautify herself and there is nothing wrong with that Biblically provided that she does not neglect her inner beauty, or make the mistake of thinking outward beauty is more important. In the Bible we see examples of even God Himself speaking of adorning His wife with various types of jewellery, another instance is when Queen Esther went through a year of beauty treatments before she was chosen as Queen, and also one of Job’s three daughters was given the name Keren Happuch which means a little box for eye shadow. The Bible also mentions Sarah being beautiful in old age.
If women are looking with envy at other women then that is a heart issue, but what is wrong with admiring another woman’s beautiful long hair and being happy for her? We can accept ourselves as God made us because there is far more to a Godly woman than her outward appearance, however, if the question is how may she please her husband and also, does the Bible say that long hair is a glorious thing well I stand by what I have said. Why would a woman want to cut off such a beautiful thing? I have to disagree with you about short hair being as feminine, it just isn’t, and generally men prefer women to have longer hair; but I will always admire seeing a lovely, feminine young lady on tv, having a date, and she was wearing a wig due to alpoecia- when she told the guy about it, he asked her to remove the wig, and she was so courageus and she did! He wanted her to leave the wig off for the evening and so she did; it was very moving and he obviously was valuing her as the wonderful person she was overall. But if you asked her would she have her hair back if she could then sure, she would have her hair back.
I hope when I am an old lady I have long hair, perhaps taken up, but I think to have longer hair is worth the effort and I hope I am able to care for my long hair even in old age.
It is heart breaking when any kind of illness causes hair-loss and most women are very happy if/when their hair grows back.
As for women who are robbed of their hair well that is plainly wrong as is robbing women of anything. These are not reasons to not appreciate long hair.
There are many women with Afro hair who grow it long and there are many ways to care for it, extensions are not always essential.
But all of this was not really the issue; the issue was, if you have long hair that your husband likes and wants you to keep, then why would you do something so drastic as to cut it when long hair looks glorious? 🙂🦋x
