I can understand the upset if the spouse goes to the extreme, such as if the husband grows long hair or if the wife cuts her hair like a boy. But I think people should be given some freedom for their own personal preferences. Similarly, a lot of women do not like facial hair on their men because it can be rough. But, men do not like shave all the time. In this case, I do not think the wife should be too demanding.

What? It is a turn off to women for me to wear socks with sandals? All this time I have been trying to get fat to keep them at bay and all I had to do was wear socks with sandals?
yep its in the Bible...(see book of Ruth) it means you get cold feet.
Women dont really like it when men get cold feet. If you are wearing socks with sandals, something really must be wrong. Because why? Socks go with shoes or slippers. not sandals.

I have heard of some jewish sects that make wives shave their heads and wear wigs. Not really sure why....but the husbands have to wear something equally bizarre, like ties and bowler hats.

maybe these couples that place such importance on their looks ought to wear matching oufits to show everyone they are married.

You mentioned in another thread that your husband promised to kill himself if you left him.

And now he is saying you can't cut your hair?
Are you happy with your decision not to cut your hair?
 and it seems there is that also

I really wanna cut my hair off super short. I have never been confidant enough to do it before but finally wanna go through with it. However my husband likes my hair long. I asked him if it would be ok for me to cut and of course he said he wouldn’t like that. I want to respect him but also really want to cut my hair. My question is, is it biblical for me to have to listen to him? I know the way I worded makes it sound like he is being controlling but long hair is his preference. I knew this from the beginning. That is just what he is attracted to, the same way I like for him to keep a beard. What is y’all thought?
No!!!! has he ever cut his hair or beard and grown it out ...double standards plus do what ever you want because ,if all he cares about is your appearance that is lust not love...

Idk, hair is a special thing. I'd think twice about cutting my hair to please a spouse but if we were married I'd say she'd have veto power in the event of a deadlock.

If I knew a female with LONG hair, it would be really sad to have to wait years for it to grow back. I'm not sure if males hair grows slower than females or not but waist length hair takes 3+ years for some. Waiting 3 years to see your wife with beautimus hair?!?

I suppose I could be persuaded myself, but it would be odd for her to have shorter than mine. Not "undoable" it just brings up that scripture in corinthians some place that refers to hair.

Quite a few factors. What if the next time you grow your hair again to that length it will be gray? Random thought, but still. I think your physical appearance is the other person's "territory" so to speak but not in a slave/master kind of way. I'm not sure what it would be, but I'm not down to domineer but rather have dominion over each other. There is still a mediator between you though, which is important to remember. Put your request before the Lord and if you are both walking after him, it will work out according to his will. Myself I think he cares about tiny stuff like this, but mostly the effects not necessarily the action itself. We are complex creatures and simple at the same time.

she gave him her hair?
what next.
I dont like wearing clothes anymore. Should I go round naked? (you can always put them back on)

its kinda weird but for me personally whenever I get my long hair short people always compliment it and say it looks better short. Only a very few are like YOU CUT YOUR HAIR???

but then I dont have a husband to please. So I dont need to ask anyone. I do make an appointment with my hairdresser though, and shes a christian so...

Personally I think when you are married your husband DOES control you. But you actually signed up to be controlled. You both have power over each others bodies so if you told him to stop wearing socks with his sandals he kinda has to do it or feel your wrath.
You're single aren't you.

so if you told him to stop wearing socks with his sandals he kinda has to do it or feel your wrath.
hypothetically speaking (actually, I know someone who this is a real case)

WHAT IF closed toed shoes (dress shoes, sneakers, etc) were to tight and uncomfortable for him so he wears sandals.....
BUT bare footed in them causes blisters so he has to wear socks with them to keep his feet from becoming sore?

You know, I actually never realized just how many guys wear socks with sandals till I joined CC, kept reading complaints about it and started noticing it around me......

I can understand it if a husband did not want his wife to cut her hair like this: IMG_20200805_212534_695.JPG images.jpeg
Its so unfortunate that this is the standard of beauty for most men: 7f74f8e7d42e2b72ddad2a2605038821.png main-qimg-981502f3ce6a9de5a619d8d4b380cab5.jpeg
I'm really sorry for these men because most women want variety when it comes to their hair. Short hair styles like these are quite cute: short-dark-hair-colors.jpg a1872d3d420b437142c988ea5bdb97da.jpg screen-9.jpg b4e7b581087110efe2c69c84f5113555.jpg

Just wanted to share that my husband occasionally wears socks with his Crocks. He says it's comfy. 🤷

My hair goes from shoulder to medium long. It can't handle big lengths, it's tangly and thin. I'd actually love super long hair, how cool would that be, epic long Gandalf white hair when I am old??? Elven elder look. Heck yeah, I want it. Then add pastels to it. Fairy tale lilac hair with hip long braids. Fantastic. But likely not going to happen here though.

So it usually saddens me when I see other women blessed with strong and thick hair, yet they want to cut it off, shave it off. But we all wish for different things, and that's how things will always go in life...

I believe that I should care for myself and let my partner deal with his issues...

That's something that people on the outside can't dictate anyone. Hopefully whatever decisions proceed in the OP's marriage are done in love of God and God blessing her marriage.
I was more finding a place to vent, since I have the opposite "problem", that I'd like longer hair, lol.
(Not that I make it into a problem at this stage of life :) I have God so it's all good...)

my cousin has VERY THICK hair. It used to be long, like past her shoulders halfway down her back (she could tilt her head back and it would be past her tushy) and she always got major headaches. One day a lady at her church who cut hair in her home offered to do it for her free of charge. Reluctantly she accepted, though she wasn't sure she wanted to give up her long locks.
First thing the hair dresser did was make a ponytail and cut straight across......
what was in her hands looked like a BIG, FLUFFY make up brush  (such a shame it was damaged hair- color treated and dry/frizzy, b/c there was so much it could have been made to a wig with out having to add to it)
The following Sunday at church the hair dresser asked her how she was liking the new style, but more important how her headaches were. It was during that conversation that she realized she hadn't had headaches all week.

That was over 20 years ago, she's never let it get past her shoulders (even at that length she starts to fell the headaches), and hasn't had the headaches from it since then either.

Well if anyone wants to grow their hair out, then they should definitely go for it, if that's what they want, not just to please someone (My opinion. Perhaps its bad advise considering the fact that I'm single but anyhoo)

This is Asha Mandela, she has the world's tallest dreadlocks.

CYVBJZOWMAAvZeY.jpg Xie Qiuping has the word's tallest hair. xie-qiuping-4827b66a-5491-44ff-99b4-e8fbc21fb11-resize-750.jpeg Asha Mandela's hair is 110 feet and Xie Qiuping hair is 18 feet 5 inches.

The battle of the hairs: The difference between the two hairs is that one is not combed while the other one has to be combed. So even though Asha's hair is longer, the Guinness World
Record does not give her the title of woman with longest hair.

I always think the man and woman with the longest fingernails in the Guinness Book of Records SHOULD cut them but they probably dont want to give up their spot in the book.

Im ok with long hair but I think long fingernails are creepy. But maybe the long fingernail man and lady are married, but probably not to each other. Im guessing they might ask their spouses for favours quite a bit.

as for men wearing socks and sandals, how can you get blisters from wearing sandals? The point of sandals is they are open heeled and toes so they are not going to get blisters....you dont need to wear socks as well.
