Here we go again. God made an unconditional covenant, it has not changed, it will not change. The church doesn't replace the Jews, the church gets all the blessings, the Jews get all the curses. No, God will fulfill His promises.
“Here we go again. God made an unconditional covenant, it has not changed, it will not change.”
is it based on what he said In the covenant he made with them or is the covenant God made with israel based on what modern Christian’s explain ?
can you acknowledge that
Gods word is what defines the parameters and conditions of his own covenant he made with them ? If so we can understand what happened
his
covenant with israel is defined by what he said to them
This is his condition that he himself made with isreal through Moses thier mediator it’s written in their covenant law that’s how we can understand tbier covenant by studying and accepting what’s in it what he said
After Moses had lead them To the edge of the promised land and wrote the law down taught the people everything God commanded them to do and not do he makes very plain the condition
both good and evil can result from thier covenant he set a choice before the. To serve him as thier God or deny him and serve other Gods
“See,
I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
( this is Gods condition placed upon them and the result of what they do going forward ) notice he commands them to do the law and then says what hell do in response for them whether they break or keep
his covenant( the entire law ) word will determine what happens when they go into the promised land
in that
I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
( here is his warning and further result of breaking the covenant he set before them)
But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
I call
heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore
choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: that thou mayest
love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
Deuteronomy 30:15-20 KJV
Frankly they broke his covenant repeatedly and worshipped every other god under the sun even worshipping the sun itself at times through history so all of the cirses he promised is how the covenant was fulfilled
Is this true if did he says if
they broke his covenant this would come to pass ?
“When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and
ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:
I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
And the LORD shall
scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the LORD shall lead you.”
Deuteronomy 4:25-27
God carefully speaks repeatedly
“
When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall
the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.”
Joshua 23:16 KJV
“And
I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them,
till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.”
Jeremiah 24:10
“And
it shall come to pass, that
as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you;
so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.”
Deuteronomy 28:63 KJV
Later he would restore them through a new covenant after they broke his and received the curse within it
“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: but this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
Jeremiah 31:31-34
the law and prophets were only meant to bring the world to the gospel israels
Punishment meant thier land would become desolate d those that survived the terrible things determined on Jerusalem would be scattered into all nations carrying the gospel the new covenant thier curse became the worlds blessing and spread the gospel not the law or israels Old covenant but the gospel the new covenant into all the world so anyone who receives the one gospel will be saved
Ot the old covenant of Israel but the new covenant of Jesus and yo e who believes whether they were an Israelite or gentile beforehand
