Luke 17 -

26 And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, thus also will it be in the days of the Son of Man: 27They were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until that day Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came and destroyed [G622] all.

28 Likewise, as it came to pass in the days of Lot, they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building; 29 and in that day Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed [G622] all.

30 It will be according to these in that day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 In that day, the one who will be on the housetop, and his goods in the house, do not let him come down to take them away; and likewise the one in the field, do not let him return to the things behind. 32 Remember Lot’s wife! 33 Whoever may seek to save his life will lose it; but whoever will lose it will preserve it. 34I say to you, in that night there will be two upon one bed: The one will be taken, and the other will be left. 35There will be two women grinding at the same place: The one will be taken, and the other will be left.”d

["taken" = "taken away in judgment"; "left" = "left on the earth to ENTER the MK age in their mortal bodies"... just as in Noah's day]

[Note: the phrase "the END [SINGULAR] of the AGE [SINGULAR]" refers to that which will immediately precede "the AGE [SINGULAR] to come" / aka the promised and prophesied earthly Millennial Kingdom age... "the end of the age" precedes this... It is not referring to the END of the WORLD or of TIME]

Nope, you have it backwards:

"taken" = "taken away to safety" like the people raptured before the wrath of God comes;

"left/rejected (the word's meaning in the Greek)" = "left" on the earth to suffer wrath of God in their mortal bodies"... just as in Noah's day.

Matthew 22:7 -

"But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed [G622] those murderers, and burned up their city."

Verse 8 goes on to say, "THEN SAITH HE to his servants..." (meaning, TIME remains existing on the earth following the v.7 ^ "70ad events" ^ )

The thing is, once these are killed/destroyed [G622] as lost/unsaved persons, there is never an opportunity for them to be restored. [doesn't mean they won't face the "GWTj"]

[G622 = "cutting off entirely")

And the people thirsted there for water, and the people complained against Moses, and said,
“Why is it you have brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our livestock with thirst?”
(Exodus 17:3)
this is 'the lie' of Satan.

the lie is that God put His breath into the living souls only in order to bring them into a dry place and kill them.
the accusation that God is a capricious, psychotic, evil murderer. that He created living souls only in order to destroy them.
that He did not give life or existence, but only a lie temporarily disguised as life. an illusion of existence waiting to be exposed as non-existence.

Apollumi
Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
(Hebrews 2:14-15)
is Satan annihilated?

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
(Revelation 20:10)
tormented day and night forever and ever about ceasing to exist? :p
well, no.

in Hebrews 2 it isn't Strongs #622, but a different word, Strongs #2673 meaning to render powerless or annul.
but in Revelation 20:15, everyone not written in the Lamb's book of life shares Satan's fate. cast into the lake of fire prepared for Satan and the fallen angels.

The lie of Satan is plainly spoken in Genesis 3 ~

“You will not surely die."

The lie at the heart of the fall of man and corruption of all creation is being repeated to this day.

Jesus says, "Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

“You will not surely die."
IOW the accusation that God had lied to her. that He had intentionally created her without access to wisdom or knowledge or true Life ((because He is Life)).
by implication that God cruelly brought her into existence in order to prevent her from having that which is truly good, and then lied to her about it.

it's the same accusation as "You only brought us into the wilderness in order to kill us, our children and our animals by depriving us of water"

yes 40 and the 2 they indeed all died in the desert and [Moses with them: Moses in this case a kind of allegory for the law]Only the 2 witnesses Joshua and Caleb made it to the promise land.He did bring them into the desert to kill them of course because wisdom is not found in the land of the living.

Wisdom is declared to all the living; that the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding (Job 28:28).

@GaryA , Plus, doesn't it only make sense that, as the earlier vv.5b,6a speak of "5b THIS is the resurrection the first" / "6a ...in the resurrection the first" and understood as applying to ALL BELIEVERS...

...that therefore in verses 12 and 13 and 14, this is only the resurrection of those who are to be delivered to 'the second death'? (i.e. the "resurrection OF JUDGMENT / DAMNATION" spoken of in Jn5:29)
[i.e. "the DEAD [/unsaved of all times]"]
John 5:29
and come out—those who have done good to the resurrection of life [ETERNAL], and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment [ALSO ETERNAL???].

Also a common verse used is 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9: He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might."

Most mainstream Bible translations use the word destruction, and when I use the word destruction it means gone, torn down, and no more. Not torment or torture.
2 Thes 1:9 "eternal destruction"
The Greek seems to indicate a long drawn out process of punishment....not an instantaneous event.

https://www.blueletterbible.org/lexicon/g3639/kjv/tr/0-1/

ὄλεθρος ólethros, ol'-eth-ros; from a primary ὄλλυμι óllymi (to destroy; a prolonged form); ruin, i.e. death, punishment:—destruction.

1Co 5:5
To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction G3639 of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

1Th 5:3
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction G3639 cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

2Th 1:9
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction G3639 from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

1Ti 6:9
But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction G3639 and perdition.

In my experience most people's perspective of hell comes from culture not the Bible. ie: Dante's Inferno, Saturday morning cartoons.

When I've heard countless pastors speak of it, it's usually more dogma then expository. Plus, people have raised some good points concerning the doctrine of hell:

1) "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" these two comparisons don't seem to fit together. It would make more sense if it was "The wages of sin is eternal torment but the gift of God is eternal life."

2) As Christians like to often say, "Jesus died the death I should have died" Jesus was beaten and executed in probably the worst way a man can. Is it possible that a similar punishment awaits those unrepentant in judgement to then be annihilated when it is through? Isn't eternal torment a greater punishment then what Jesus endured?

3) In Genesis Adam and Eve were kicked out of the Garden of Eden that led to the tree of life and God said "Now that the man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil, what if he should stretch out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever!"

Scripture also heeds us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, and no one can stand before a holy God. I dare not say that NO judgement awaits those who do not repent and turn to God. Although I side more with annihilation, I am still open to the fact that I am wrong, but the dogma needs to stop.
Luke 12:5
But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who has authority, after the killing, to cast into Gehenna (Lake of Fire). Yes, I say to you, fear Him.

I really don't see the point of fearing annihilation. Question for you: why bother with a resurrection of the unjustified and then the GWT judgement if those judged are to be annihilated? I would assume that this judgement is set forth as a means to determine the DEGREE of PUNISHMENT for those who will be cast into the lake of fire.

Similarly, the JUSTIFIED in Christ Jesus will be judged at the Bema seat....for REWARDS.
