Has any one here posted anything saying Christians should not be baptized?

Rebirth of necessity requires the old man to die, and come forth ONCE AGAIN from waters of the "womb." According to scripture man is without excuse because Spiritual concepts can be understood by God's natural designs.

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" (Rom 1:20)
Natural H2O has no power to produce Spiritual birth. It takes living water. (John 4:10,14; 7:37-39) The natural man can only seem to understand natural water. (1 Corinthians 2:14)

Did You actually just turn Romans 1:20 into a Regenerative type of result Verse?

A Verse, where Paul shows us specifically, it is about why Sinners will go to Hell, and it not be God's literal Fault or Choice?

Read this CORRECTLY Now:

19 because what can be known about God is plain to them—for God has shown it to them.
20 His invisible attributes—His eternal power and His divine nature—have been clearly seen ever since the creation of the world, being understood through the things that have been made. So people are without excuse
21 for even though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or give Him thanks.

Romans 1:20 has as much to do with Regeneration or Water Baptism, as a styrofoam cup, holding gasoline!

You must be Calvinist, gotten used to cherry picking Single Verses with one Meaning and converting them into YOUR meaning, huh?

That is false. In Acts 10:45-46 we read that the gift of the Holy Spirit (compare with Acts 2:38 - the gift of the Holy Spirit) had been poured out on the Gentiles also. For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. They clearly received the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and only those who receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit can receive a spiritual gift, which is ONLY for the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12) and in this case it was the spiritual gift of tongues.

In Acts 11:17, we read - If therefore God gave them the same gift (Holy Spirit) as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”

In 1 Corinthians 12:13, we read - For by one Spirit we were ALL baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

Ephesians 1:13 - In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.

Dear Mailmandan,

First of all, I appreciate the trouble that you went to in explaining your understanding of what happened to the household of Cornelius.

I apologize for the length of my answer, but I could not present the facts in any other way.

Acts 10:44-45 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. 45 All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

COMMENT: This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, not the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. How do we know. Notice below.

Acts 10:46-48 For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered, 47 "Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized WHO HAVE RECEIVED THE HOLY SPIRIT just as WE did, can he?" 48 And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.

COMMENT: Peter compares what has happened to Cornelius and his household to what happened to himself and other “WE”.
Now look down in Acts 11.

Acts 11:1-18 Now the apostles and the brethren who were throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, THOSE WHO WERE CIRCUMCISED TOOK ISSUE WITH HIM, 3 saying, "You went to uncircumcised men and ate with them." 4 But Peter began speaking and proceeded to explain to them in orderly sequence, saying, 5 "I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object coming down like a great sheet lowered by four corners from the sky; and it came right down to me, 6 and when I had fixed my gaze on it and was observing it I saw the four-footed animals of the earth and the wild beasts and the crawling creatures and the birds of the air. 7 "I also heard a voice saying to me, 'Get up, Peter; kill and eat.' 8 "But I said, 'By no means, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered my mouth.' 9 "But a voice from heaven answered a second time, 'What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.' 10 "This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into the sky. 11 "And behold, at that moment three men appeared at the house in which we were staying, having been sent to me from Caesarea. 12 "The Spirit told me to go with them without misgivings. These six brethren also went with me and we entered the man's house. 13 "And he reported to us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying, 'Send to Joppa and have Simon, who is also called Peter, brought here; 14 and he will speak words to you by which you will be saved, you and all your household.' 15 "And as I began to speak, THE HOLY SPIRIT FELL UPON THEM JUST AS HE DID UPON US AT THE BEGINNING. 16 "And I remembered the word of the Lord, how He used to say, 'John baptized with water, but YOU WILL BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT.' 17 "Therefore if God gave to them the SAME GIFT as He gave to US also after believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?" 18 When they heard this, they quieted down and glorified God, saying, "Well then, God has granted to the Gentiles also the repentance that leads to life."

COMMENT: Here we see Peter back in Jerusalem being confronted by Jews who faulted him for eating with the Gentiles. As we read here, we see that Peter goes over how, in the beginning that he and the apostles were baptized in the Holy Spirit as Christ had promised them in Acts 1 and they would receive power. Look below.

Acts 1:2-8 until the day when He was taken up to heaven, after He had by the Holy Spirit given orders to the apostles whom He had chosen. 3 To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God. 4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, "Which," He said, "you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, BUT YOU WILL BE BAPTIZED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT NOT MANY DAYS FROM NOW." So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, "Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 BUT YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS COME UPON YOU; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

COMMENT: Again, this was the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. How do we know that this was not the indwelling of the Holy Spirit? Look At John 14 below.

John 14:15-23 "If you LOVE Me, you will keep My commandments. 16 "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17 that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, BUT YOU KNOW HIM BECAUSE HE ABIDES WITH YOU AND WILL BE IN YOU. 18 "I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 "After a LITTLE WHILE the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. 20 "IN THAT DAY YOU WILL KNOW THAT I AM IN MY FATHER, AND YOU IN ME, AND I IN YOU. 21 "He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who LOVES Me; and he who LOVES Me will be LOVED by My Father, and I will LOVE him and will disclose Myself to him." 22 Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, "Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?" 23 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone LOVES Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will LOVE him, and WE WILL COME TO HIM AND MAKE OUR ABODE WITH HIM.

COMMENT: Now notice what Jesus does to the Apostles in the evening on the day He was resurrected.

John 20:19-22 So when it was EVENING on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and *said to them, "Peace be with you." 20 And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples then rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you." 22 And when He had said this, HE BREATHED ON THEM AND *SAID TO THEM, "RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT.

COMMENT: This fulfilled what Jesus had promised the just three days prior before He was crucified. When Jesus said that Spirit would be in them, Romans 8:9-11, is the same thing that Paul spelled out to the Roman Christians.

Romans 8:9-11 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, IF INDEED THE SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLS IN YOU. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. 10 If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also GIVE LIFE TO YOUR MORTAL BODIES THROUGH HIS SPIRIT WHO DWELLS IN YOU.

COMMENT: The above tells us why, in Acts 2:41, we find the word: "ADDED"

Acts 2:41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were ADDED about three thousand souls.

COMMENT:
Who were the 3000 added to? It was the apostles who were in the foundation of the church. See Ephesians below.

Ephesians 2:19-22 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God's household, 20 HAVING BEEN BUILT ON THE FOUNDATION OF THE APOSTLES AND PROPHETS, CHRIST JESUS HIMSELF BEING THE CORNER STONE, 21 in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being built together into A DWELLING OF GOD IN THE SPIRIT.

God bless you, Mailmandan,

The Gentiles received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and then they were baptized in water. It was not the indwelling of the Holy Spirit
Please read the context clear into Acts 11. After Cornelius, no one was baptized in the Holy Spirit.

Again putting men one a horizontal with God.

Eph 2:18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

However, the baptism of the spirit did take place before the HS came into (anoint) them..

no sir

they received the spirit because they heard the word and believed.

eph 1:
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who[d] is the [e]guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

Peter said repent. They heard.

Peter said if they repent and believe, they would be given the gift of the spirit.. they heard and believed, and were given the spirit

then on the account of their received remission of sin, they were baptized.

Please note. they were baptized with the spirit. before they were baptized in water.

Hello Grace,

I want you to know that I appreciate our continued conversation on salvation. You truly have a heart for souls and are willing to converse with them, even when they disagree such as me.

Grace, I have two points to make here.

First, if they were saved in verse 2:38, before they were baptized, why does Acts 2:40-41 say the following?

Acts 2:40-41 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, "Be saved from this perverse generation!" 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

Secondly, if Acts 2:38 reads in the Greek like you says it does, why do all the translators of Acts 2:38 translate it the same way. I have 17 different translations of this verse from different Bible translations and none of them translate it like you says that verse 38. means?

Maybe I have missed something. If I have, I am quite willing to listen.

God bless you,
Wayne

Dear Wansvic,

I appreciate our continued conversation! REALLY!

1 Peter 3:20-21 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through the water. 21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

You know, I believe that these and all the other scriptures are inspired by God. So, I believe what these verses mentioned above say. You, too, believe the same, don't you?

God bless you,
Wayne

Dear Grace,

Hmmmm! I have asked several times as to what scriptures in the New Testament give a reason for purpose for being baptized. I have never go an answer. So, here are scriptures which do give a purpose or reason for being baptized.

Well, here are a few scriptures that give a reason or purpose for being baptized.

Mark 16:15-16 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 16:13-15 And on the Sabbath day we went outside the gate to a riverside, where we were supposing that there would be a place of prayer; and we sat down and began speaking to the women who had assembled. 14 A woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul. 15 And when she and her household had been baptized, she urged us, saying, "If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house and stay." And she prevailed upon us.

Acts 19:1-5 It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. 2 He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?" And they said to him, "No, we have not even heard whether there is a Holy Spirit." 3 And he said, "Into what then were you baptized?" And they said, "Into John's baptism." 4 Paul said, "John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in Him who was coming after him, that is, in Jesus." 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Acts 22:16
'Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.'

Romans 6:3-7 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin.

Galatians 3:24-27 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. 26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, LOVE your wives, just as Christ also LOVED the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the declaration, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.

Colossians 2:11-13 and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ; 12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

1 Peter 3:20-21 who once were disobedient, when the patience of God kept waiting in the days of Noah, during the construction of the ark, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were saved through the water. 21 Corresponding to that, baptism now saves us, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

I believe them all.

1 + 2 are a formula for absolute assurance of salvation.

1 alone is a formula for a salvation that can be lost.

3 is a formula for damnation and usually involves #4. and is not baptized.

Because if you don't believe you are probably not going to be baptized...so baptism doesn't even need to be mentioned in the latter part...it is a given that if you don't believe, you won't be baptized.

Where are the "if's" in this equation?
Again, the answer eludes you because you don't understand grammar.

The entire verse is an "if" statement. "Whosoever believes" is like saying, "If you believe". There is a condition in the statement. Those who don't meet the condition are excluded.

Acts 22:16 'Now why do you delay?

I believe them all.

what does this have to do with my post.

If you do not know the difference between the baptism of the spirit and the anointing of the spirit. you are already in a situation where you will not be able to understand basic truths.

why do we get baptized? Because God said so, do I need a reason?

the issue is when we replace spirit baptism, which saves, with water baptism, which will never save..

I go by the Bible that I hold in my hand...a Protestant kjv.

I believe that the Bible is 66 books
Good. You might want to check out the original 1611 KJV, which included Judith and Tobit, among several others. By your "logic", those who printed your "Protestant kjv" violated Revelation 22.

You're now stuck in a logical box of your own making. ;)

"Baptized into Christ" does not mean water baptized into the body of Christ, as water salvationists teach. That is only accomplished through Spirit baptism. (1 Corinthians 12:13) Now in what "sense" would a believer be "water baptized into Christ?" In the same "sense" that the Israelites were "baptized into Moses.." (1 Corinthians 10:2) The Israelites were not literally water baptized into the body of Moses and there is little dispute that being "baptized into Moses" signified the open allegiance and public identification of the Israelites with Moses as their leader. Moses was formally recognized as the leader of the covenant people. Water baptism signifies our allegiance and public identification with Christ as our Savior, so it would only be in that sense.
The Holy Ghost comes to dwell IN a person. (Acts 2:4, 33) Whereas those obedient to the command to be baptized in water in the name of Jesus are baptized into His death. (Rom. 6:3-6) The experiences are separate from one another and address different aspects of man's makeup.

"And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, (Rom. 6:3) AND he in him. (Acts 2:4) And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us." 1 John 3:24

"...ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, (Water baptism; Acts 2:38, Rom. 6:3) AND by the Spirit of our God. (Acts 2:4, 38; Rom. 8:9) (1 Cor. 6:11)

God's grace is seen in His willingness to set in place a plan of salvation that man did nothing to deserve:
"But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, AND renewing of the Holy Ghost;" Titus 3:4-5

I think I believe I know where the Apostles, would have SEEN Jesus Baptize in His Own Name, for the Disciples, to use the same Formula in the Book of Acts 2:38.

John 3:
22 After this Jesus and his disciples went into the Judean countryside, and he remained there with them and was baptizing.

Jesus, the WORD, made flesh, probably Baptized under His Own Authority!

He healed in His Name and said Your Sins are Forgiven. He definitely Baptized under His Own Authority!

Most likely why Disciples did it as well.
Jesus accompanied disciples but did not baptize anyone Himself. (John 4:1-2) His presence certainly indicated His approval of the practice.

As mentioned, Jesus prophesied that repentance and remission of sin (connection to water baptism) would be preached in His name to all nations, and would BEGIN in Jerusalem. This indicates that baptism in the name of Jesus was begun on the Day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:38)

WHOAHHHHHHH!

Jesus, was discovered Baptizing People in the New Testament?

Jesus, the WORD, made flesh, God, would have most definitely Baptized under His Own Authority on EARTH!

He healed in His Name, and said Your Sins are Forgiven, Instructed we cannot get to the Father unless we Go, Through Him. He definitely Baptized under His Own Authority!

Most likely why Disciples did it as well.

I am truly convinced in my spirit this is what happened.
Jesus did not baptize, his disciples did the baptizing. (John 4:1-2)
Also, consider that baptism in the name of Jesus was begun after His death, burial and resurrection. As Paul expressed, "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

"When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,
Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) John 4:1-2

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed," Rom 6:3-6

In Acts 11:17, we read - If therefore God gave them the same gift (Holy Spirit) as He gave us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”...
What did Peter do after the group received the Holy Ghost in order not to withstand God? He commanded they be baptized in water in the name of the Lord.

It was after hearing everything that occurred that the Jews accepted that God granted the Gentiles repentance unto life. (Acts 11:18) A vivid parallel of the requirements set forth on the Day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:38-39)

"When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. (Acts 11:18)

In 1 Corinthians 12:13, we read - For by one Spirit we were ALL baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit....
The Spirit is involved in every aspect of the NT rebirth.
Man takes a step of faith in obedience to God's command to be water baptized in the name of Jesus. And the Spirit brings about the associated reality of having one's sins destroyed. AND drinking into one Spirit is receiving the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Both are essential to the NT rebirth.

Ephesians 1:13 - In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
The word of truth, the gospel of salvation, referenced in the Ephesians scripture below, is in fact what Peter initially presented on the Day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:2-42) And, Paul revealed to the Ephesian disciples in Acts 19:1-7. It is trust in Jesus that prompts individual's to believe and obey the God given commands. All are essential to the NT rebirth.

Ephesians 1:13 - In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
