Note the reference to baptism in the name of Jesus pertains to water. Being indwelt with the Holy Ghost is always recorded as a separate experience:
"When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied." Acts 19:5-6
"...Peter and John:
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost." Acts 8:15-17
"...on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord." Acts 10:46-48
Paul's water baptism: "...why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord." Acts 22:16
There were eight different types of baptism given in the New Testament:
1. John's baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
2. Jesus' baptism to fulfill all righteousness
3. Jesus baptism of suffering
4. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
5. Baptism into Moses
6. Noah's baptism
7. Baptism of fire
8. Baptism for the forgiveness of sins to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In 61 to 63 AD, about 30 years after the day of Pentecost, the Scriptures say they was one Baptism.
In about 9 to 10 years after Pentecost, Cornelius and his household were Baptized in Holy Spirit and then in water.
So, 20 years after Cornelius and his household were baptized, Ephesians 4:4 says there was one baptism.
What baptism was this: We see in two places that water baptism was the one that remained.
Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to
the end of the age."
There were three things that were to be done until the end of the age; one, make disciples, two, baptize them, and three continue to teach the disciples. Also, we see water being used in Ephesians, 30 after the start of the church:
Ephesians 5:24-27 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 so that He might
sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the declaration, 27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory,
having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless.
So, we see, the only baptism for today is water baptism in Jesus name.
