The Holy Spirit Has a Mind
Scripture also says that the Holy Spirit has a mind. When he wrote his letter to the Romans the Apostle Paul spoke of the “mind of the spirit.”
And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God (Romans 8:27 TNIV).​
The word “mind” has the idea of thought and purpose. These are attributes of personality.
The Holy Spirit Is an Emotional Being
The Holy Spirit not only thinks like a person. He has feelings like a person. We can give the following examples.
He Can Give and Receive Love
The Holy Spirit can give and receive love. Paul wrote to the Romans of the love of the Spirit.
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in earnest prayer to God on my behalf (Romans 15:30 NRSV).​
The love of Christ can be shown through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit Can Be Grieved
He also can be affected by the acts of others. He can be grieved. Isaiah the prophet wrote.
Then the Lord’s people turned against him and made his Holy Spirit sad. So he became their enemy and attacked them (Isaiah 63:10 CEV).​
The Holy Spirit is grieved by sin. The fact that He can be grieved demonstrates personality. Indeed, one cannot grieve an influence or an impersonal force.
The Holy Spirit Can Be Insulted
The Bible says that the Holy Spirit can be insulted. The writer to the Hebrews said.
How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? (Hebrews 10:29 NASB).​
He responds emotionally the way that a person responds. Again, this is a sign of personhood.

The Holy Spirit Has the Ability to Choose
After listing the various gifts of the Spirit such as wisdom, knowledge, miracles, and prophecy, Paul links them to the Holy Spirit who gave them. However the Holy Spirit not only gives the gifts, He gives them according to His will. The fact that the Holy Spirit has a will to choose shows personality. Paul wrote.
But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills (1 Corinthians 12:11 NASB).​
Notice that the Spirit distributes these gifts according to His will.
The idea that the Holy Spirit has a choice is consistent with the character of God. James uses the same word “chose” to describe the will of God the Father. He wrote.
Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures (James 1:18 NKJV).​
Just as God the Father has a will, so does God the Holy Spirit.
These attributes are consistent with personhood. Therefore, we see that the characteristics ascribed to the Holy Spirit–thought, a mind, feelings, choice–are attributes of a person.
The Holy Spirit Acts like a Person
The deeds that the Holy Spirit performs are deeds that only a person can do. His acts and dealings are not those of an impersonal influence or force. There are a number of examples of this.
The Holy Spirit Can Teach
The Bible speaks of the Holy Spirit teaching. Paul wrote.
And we speak of these things in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual things to those who are spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:13 NRSV).​
It is the Spirit of God who teaches believers in Christ.
Jesus also said that the Holy Spirit would teach believers. Luke records Him saying the following about the teaching ministry of the Spirit.
For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that very hour what you ought to say (Luke 12:12 NRSV).​
The teaching ministry of the Holy Spirit is an essential part of His ministry.
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would be a teacher of truth. He said.
But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning (John 15:26, 27 NKJV).​
Whatever the Holy Spirit teaches will be truthful. Indeed, as God, He cannot lie.
Jesus also said that the Holy Spirit would teach His disciples “all things.”
But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative— and by the Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit— he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you (John 14:26 NLT).​
As Jesus taught His disciples the Holy Spirit would also teach them. He would perform the same type of teaching ministry of Jesus. He would cause them to remember all things that Christ had earlier taught them. Jesus said.
But it is actually best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Counselor won’t come. If I do go away, he will come because I will send him to you (John 16:7 NLT).​
He personally comes and teaches all believers. This is His responsibility.

The Holy Spirit Gives Guidance
The Holy Spirit is a personal guide to Christians. Paul wrote.
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God (Romans 8:14 NRSV).​
God’s children are guided by the Holy Spirit.
We find that the Holy Spirit guided Paul into areas of hardship. He said.
And now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem, not knowing what will happen to me there. I only know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me (Acts 20:22, 23 TNIV).​
Thus, the ministry of the Holy Spirit consists of giving guidance to believers.
The Holy Spirit Comforts Believers
Comforting, or helping, is another ministry of the Holy Spirit. This too is a mark of personality. Jesus said.
But I tell you that I am going to do what is best for you. That is why I am going away. The Holy Spirit cannot come to help (John 16:7 CEV).​
The Holy Spirit comforts those who belong to Christ.
The Holy Spirit Gives Commands
The Holy Spirit can issue commands that can be obeyed. The Book of Acts records a number of such commands. For example, the Spirit commanded Philip.
Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to this chariot and join it” (Acts 8:29 NRSV).​
The Contemporary English Version translates it this way.
The Spirit told Philip to catch up with the chariot (Acts 8:29 CEV).​
Only a person can issue commands.
Peter was commanded by the Holy Spirit to receive certain men. We read in the Book of Acts.
While Peter was still thinking about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Simon, three men are looking for you. So get up and go downstairs. Do not hesitate to go with them, for I have sent them” (Acts 10:19, 20 TNIV).​
This is a further indication that the Holy Spirit has personality.
Paul was forbidden by the Holy Spirit to go to Asia.
Paul and his friends went through Phrygia and Galatia, but the Holy Spirit would not let them preach in Asia. After they arrived in Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not let them (Acts 16:6, 7 CEV)​
In each of these examples, the Holy Spirit commanded what to do, and what not to do.
The Holy Spirit also appoints people to offices in the church. We read the following in the Book of Acts.
Keep watch over yourselves and over all the flock, of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God that he obtained with the blood of his own Son (Acts 20:28 NRSV)​
The Spirit of God appoints people to the ministry of Christ.

The Holy Spirit Gives Understanding
Giving understanding is a work of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said.
However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come (John 16:13 NKJV).​
The Spirit of God was given to give understanding to the people.
The Holy Spirit Is Able to Speak
The Bible records the Holy Spirit speaking. The Book of Acts records the following.
While they were worshiping the Lord and going without eating, the Holy Spirit told them, “Appoint Barnabas and Saul to do the work for which I have chosen them” (Acts 13:2 CEV).​
The Spirit of God, on occasion, could verbally make Himself known to people.
The Holy Spirit Speaks on Behalf of People
The Holy Spirit intercedes, or speaks on behalf of people. Paul wrote.
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered (Romans 8:26 NKJV)​
The same Greek word, translated as “intercession,” is used later in this chapter of Romans of Christ and His intercessory work. It says.
Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us (Romans 8:34 NRSV).​
Thus both Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit intercede on behalf of believers.
The Holy Spirit Can Perform Miracles
The Holy Spirit performs miracles. In fact, Jesus Himself said that He cast out demons by the Spirit of God. We read.
But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out demons, then the kingdom of God has come to you (Matthew 12:28 NRSV).​
It was through the Spirit of God that Jesus performed miracles.
On the Day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit miraculously allowed the disciples of Christ to speak in languages previously unlearned. We read.
And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability (Acts 2:4 NLT).​
Again, we find the Holy Spirit involved in miracles.
The Apostle Paul wrote of the Spirit’s miraculous power in his letter to the Romans. He put it this way.
I have won them over by the miracles done through me as signs from God— all by the power of God’s Spirit. In this way, I have fully presented the Good News of Christ all the way from Jerusalem clear over into Illyricum (Romans 15:19 NLT).​
Scripture clearly teaches the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit. This too is another sign of the personality of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit Convicts of Sin
Conviction of sin is the work of the Holy Spirit. God said the following before the flood in Noah’s day.
Then the LORD said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years” (Genesis 6:3 NIV).​
The Spirit of God will not put up with sin. The fact that this can be said of Him implies personality.
Jesus said the Holy Spirit would convict the world of sin. We read His words in the gospel of John.
When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment (John 16:8 TNIV).​
The Holy Spirit is a Divine prosecutor convicting the world of its sin.

The Holy Spirit Sets People Apart for Ministry
The Holy Spirit, sanctifies, or sets people apart from ministry. We read the following in the Book of Acts.
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them” (Acts 13:2 ESV).​
In this instance, it was the Holy Spirit who set these believers apart for God’s work.
Peter wrote about the Spirit sanctifying the believers. He put it this way.
According to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood: (1 Peter 1:2 ESV).​
People are set apart for God service by the work of the Spirit of God.
The Holy Spirit Gives Gifts
The Holy Spirit gives gifts as He desires. Paul wrote the following to the Corinthians.
To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills (1 Corinthians 12:8–11 ESV).​
The Bible makes the distinction between the Holy Spirit and the gifts that He gives to people.
The Holy Spirit Raises the Dead
The Holy Spirit is also involved in the resurrection of the dead. Paul wrote to the Romans.
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you (Romans 8:11 NRSV).​
This is another indication of His personhood.
The Holy Spirit Can Create
The Holy Spirit is also the Creator. We read the following in the Book of Genesis.
Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters (Genesis 1:2 NIV).​
The Contemporary English Versions says.
The earth was barren, with no form of life; it was under a roaring ocean covered with darkness. But the Spirit of God was moving over the water (Genesis 1:2 CEV).​
Thus, the Holy Spirit was involved in the creation process.

The Holy Spirit Is the Authority behind Scripture
The Holy Spirit is the ultimate authority behind the Scripture. Peter wrote.
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21 NIV).​
These deeds attributed to the Holy Spirit are not the acts of an impersonal force; they are the acts of a person.
The Holy Spirit Is Treated as a Person
Whenever the Holy Spirit is encountered in a historical situation we discover that He is always treated as a person.
The Holy Spirit Can Be Lied To
The Bible records that Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit. The Book of Acts says.
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself?” (Acts 5:3 NKJV).​
You can lie only to a person.
The Holy Spirit Can Be Resisted
Stephen told the Sanhedrin that they were disobeying the Holy Spirit by resisting Him. We read of him saying.
You stiff-necked people, uncircumcised in heart and ears, you are forever opposing the Holy Spirit, just as your ancestors used to do (Acts 7:51 NRSV).​
You do not disobey an impersonal force; you can only disobey an actual person.
The Holy Spirit Can Direct People
On another occasion Simon Peter went to the house of Cornelius as the Holy Spirit directed. The Book of Acts says.
And while Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you. Rise and go down, and accompany them without hesitation; for I have sent them”(Acts 10:19, 20 RSV).​
Consequently, whenever we find the Holy Spirit in a historical narrative He is consistently treated as though He is a person, never as anything less.
The Holy Spirit Has the Ministry of a Person
The Holy Spirit has been given the ministry, or responsibility that only a person can fulfill. Jesus said that the job of the Holy Spirit was to be another Comforter or Helper.
Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you. The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don’t see or know him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you (John 14:16, 17 CEV).​
The Holy Spirit is “another” Comforter. He came to take the place of the absent Savior who is the other Comforter. Since Jesus, the first “Comforter” is personal we would also expect the other Comforter to also be a Person. Indeed, He is.

Ephesians 1:13-14, he says:

And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation)—when you believed in Christ—you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

The Holy Spirit is a channel that God uses to talk to us, teach us and direct us. It's like a telepathic utterance like God is sending you a message. The telephone rings, you pick it up, and you hear the voice of someone you know through the telephone. That does not make the telephone a person, but a channel by which communication is received. The Holy Spirit is God's force that he uses the same way we use a telephone.
Why does God need a phone? That is bad limit to put on God. I spoke to him about you and he is not happy with you for believing falsehoods about him.

Ignatius a.d. 30–107
But the Holy Spirit does not speak His own things, but those of Christ, and that not from himself, but from the Lord; even as the Lord also announced to us the things that He received from the Father. For, says He, “the word which ye hear is not Mine, but the Father’s, who sent Me.” And says He of the Holy Spirit, “He shall not speak of Himself, but whatsoever things He shall hear from Me.” And He says of Himself to the Father, “I have,” says He, “glorified Thee upon the earth; I have finished the work which, Thou gavest Me; I have manifested Thy name to men.” And of the Holy Ghost, “He shall glorify Me, for He receives of Mine.”
The Epistle of Ignatius to the Ephesians Chapter IX

They introduce God as a Being unknown; they suppose Christ to be unbegotten; and as to the Spirit, they do not admit that He exists. Some of them say that the Son is a mere man, and that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are but the same person, and that the creation is the work of God, not by Christ, but by some other strange power.
The Epistle of Ignatius to the Trallians Chapter VI

Since, also, there is but one unbegotten Being, God, even the Father; and one only-begotten Son, God, the Word and man; and one Comforter, the Spirit of truth; and also one preaching, and one faith, and one baptism; and one Church which the holy apostles established from one end of the earth to the other by the blood of Christ, and by their own sweat and toil;

If the Holy Ghost took upon Himself so great a concern for our instruction, that we might know from what everything was produced, would He not in like manner have kept us well informed about both the heaven and the earth, by indicating to us what it was that He made them of, if their original consisted of any material substance, so that the more He seemed to have made them of nothing, the less in fact was there as yet made, from which He could appear to have made them?

Thus the connection of the Father in the Son, and of the Son in the Paraclete, produces three coherent Persons, who are yet distinct One from Another.

Now, what the Holy Spirit is, we are taught in many passages of Scripture, as by David in the Psalm 51, when he says, “And take not Thy Holy Spirit from me;” and by Daniel, where it is said, “The Holy Spirit which is in thee.” And in the New Testament we have abundant testimonies, as when the Holy Spirit is described as having descended upon Christ, and when the Lord breathed upon His apostles after His resurrection, saying, “Receive the Holy Spirit;” and the saying of the angel to Mary, “The Holy Spirit will come upon thee;” the declaration by Paul, that no one can call Jesus Lord, save by the Holy Spirit. In the Acts of the Apostles, the Holy Spirit was given by the imposition of the apostles’ hands in baptism. From all which we learn that the person of the Holy Spirit was of such authority and dignity, that saving baptism was not complete except by the authority of the most excellent Trinity of them all, i.e., by the naming of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and by joining to the unbegotten God the Father, and to His only-begotten Son, the name also of the Holy Spirit. Who, then, is not amazed at the exceeding majesty of the Holy Spirit, when he hears that he who speaks a word against the Son of man may hope for forgiveness; but that he who is guilty of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit has not forgiveness, either in the present world or in that which is to come!

We are of opinion that this distinction may be observed in the Old Testament also, as when it is said, “He that giveth His Spirit to the people who are upon the earth, and Spirit to them who walk thereon.” For, without doubt, every one who walks upon the earth (i.e., earthly and corporeal beings) is a partaker also of the Holy Spirit, receiving it from God. My Hebrew master also used to say that those two seraphim in Isaiah, which are described as having each six wings, and calling to one another, and saying, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God of hosts,” were to be understood of the only-begotten Son of God and of the Holy Spirit. And we think that that expression also which occurs in the hymn of Habakkuk, “In the midst either of the two living things, or of the two lives, Thou wilt be known,” ought to be understood of Christ and of the Holy Spirit. For all knowledge of the Father is obtained by revelation of the Son through the Holy Spirit, so that both of these beings which, according to the prophet, are called either “living things” or “lives,” exist as the ground of the knowledge of God the Father.

For as it is said of the Son, that “no one knoweth the Father but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal Him,” the same also is said by the apostle of the Holy Spirit, when He declares, “God hath revealed them to us by His Holy Spirit; for the Spirit searcheth all things, even the deep things of God;” and again in the Gospel, when the Saviour, speaking of the divine and profounder parts of His teaching, which His disciples were not yet able to receive, thus addresses them: “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now; but when the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, is come, He will teach you all things, and will bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” We must understand, therefore, that as the Son, who alone knows the Father, reveals Him to whom He will, so the Holy Spirit, who alone searches the deep things of God, reveals God to whom He will: “For the Spirit bloweth where He listeth.” We are not, however, to suppose that the Spirit derives His knowledge through revelation from the Son. For if the Holy Spirit knows the Father through the Son’s revelation, He passes from a state of ignorance into one of knowledge; but it is alike impious and foolish to confess the Holy Spirit, and yet to ascribe to Him ignorance. For even although something else existed before the Holy Spirit, it was not by progressive advancement that He came to be the Holy Spirit; as if any one should venture to say, that at the time when He was not yet the Holy Spirit He was ignorant of the Father, but that after He had received knowledge He was made the Holy Spirit. For if this were the case, the Holy Spirit would never be reckoned in the Unity of the Trinity, i.e., along with the unchangeable Father and His Son, unless He had always been the Holy Spirit. When we use, indeed, such terms as “always” or “was,” or any other designation of time, they are not to be taken absolutely, but with due allowance; for while the significations of these words relate to time, and those subjects of which we speak are spoken of by a stretch of language as existing in time, they nevertheless surpass in their real nature all conception of the finite understanding.

Nevertheless it seems proper to inquire what is the reason why he who is regenerated by God unto salvation has to do both with Father and Son and Holy Spirit, and does not obtain salvation unless with the co-operation of the entire Trinity; and why it is impossible to become partaker of the Father or the Son without the Holy Spirit. And in discussing these subjects, it will undoubtedly be necessary to describe the special working of the Holy Spirit, and of the Father and the Son. Moreover, the order of reason, and the authority of the faith in the disposition of the words and in the Scriptures of the Lord, admonish us after these things to believe also on the Holy Spirit, once promised to the Church, and in the appointed occasions of times given. For He was promised by Joel the prophet, but given by Christ. “In the last days,” says the prophet, “I will pour out of my Spirit upon my servants and my handmaids.” And the Lord said, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost: whose sins ye remit, they shall be remitted; and whose ye retain, they shall be retained.” But this Holy Spirit the Lord Christ calls at one time “the Paraclete,” at another pronounces to be the “Spirit of truth.” And He is not new in the Gospel, nor yet even newly given; for it was He Himself who accused the people in the prophets, and in the apostles gave them the appeal to the Gentiles.

For the former deserved to be accused, because they had contemned the law; and they of the Gentiles who believe deserve to be aided by the defence of the Spirit, because they earnestly desire to attain to the Gospel law. Assuredly in the Spirit there are different kinds of offices, because in the times there is a different order of occasions; and yet, on this account, He who discharges these offices is not different, nor is He another in so acting, but He is one and the same, distributing His offices according to the times, and the occasions and impulses of things. Moreover, the Apostle Paul says, “Having the same Spirit; as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak.”

He is therefore one and the same Spirit who was in the prophets and apostles, except that in the former He was occasional, in the latter always. But in the former not as being always in them, in the latter as abiding always in them; and in the former distributed with reserve, in the latter all poured out; in the former given sparingly, in the latter liberally bestowed; not yet manifested before the Lord’s resurrection, but conferred after the resurrection. This is He who places prophets in the Church, instructs teachers, directs tongues, gives powers and healings, does wonderful works, offers discrimination of spirits, affords powers of government, suggests counsels, and orders and arranges whatever other gifts there are of charismata; and thus make the Lord’s Church everywhere, and in all, perfected and completed.

This is He who, after the manner of a dove, when our Lord was baptized, came and abode upon Him, dwelling in Christ full and entire, and not maimed in any measure or portion; but with His whole overflow copiously distributed and sent forth, so that from Him others might receive some enjoyment of His graces: the source of the entire Holy Spirit remaining in Christ, so that from Him might be drawn streams of gifts and works, while the Holy Spirit dwelt affluently in Christ. For truly Isaiah, prophesying this, said: “And the Spirit of wisdom and understanding shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and piety; and the Spirit of the fear of the Lord shall fill Him.” This self-same thing also he said in the person of the Lord Himself, in another place, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because He has anointed me, He has sent me to preach the Gospel to the poor.” Similarly David: “Wherefore God, even Thy God, hath anointed Thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” Of Him the Apostle Paul says: “For he who hath not the Spirit of Christ is none of His.” “And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” He it is who effects with water the second birth as a certain seed of divine generation, and a consecration of a heavenly nativity, the pledge of a promised inheritance, and as it were a kind of handwriting of eternal salvation; who can make us God’s temple, and fit us for His house; who solicits the divine hearing for us with groanings that cannot be uttered; filling the offices of advocacy, and manifesting the duties of our defence,—an inhabitant given for our bodies and an effector of their holiness. Who, working in us for eternity, can also produce our bodies at the resurrection of immortality, accustoming them to be associated in Himself with heavenly power, and to be allied with the divine eternity of the Holy Spirit.

For our bodies are both trained in Him and by Him to advance to immortality, by learning to govern themselves with moderation according to His decrees. For this is He who “desireth against the flesh,” because “the flesh resisteth against the Spirit.” This is He who restrains insatiable desires, controls immoderate lusts, quenches unlawful fires, conquers reckless impulses, repels drunkenness, checks avarice, drives away luxurious revellings, links love, binds together affections, keeps down sects, orders the rule of truth, overcomes heretics, turns out the wicked, guards the Gospel. Of this says the same apostle: “We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God.” Concerning Him he exultingly says: “And I think also that I have the Spirit of God.” Of Him he says: “The Spirit of the prophets is subject to the prophets.” Of Him also he tells: “Now the Spirit speaketh plainly, that in the last times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, doctrines of demons, who speak lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience cauterized.” Established in this Spirit, “none ever calleth Jesus anathema;” no one has ever denied Christ to be the Son of God, or has rejected God the Creator; no one utters any words of his own contrary to the Scriptures; no one ordains other and sacrilegious decrees; no one draws up different laws. Whosoever shall blaspheme against Him, “hath not forgiveness, not only in this world, but also not in the world to come.” This is He who in the apostles gives testimony to Christ; in the martyrs shows forth the constant faithfulness of their religion; in virgins restrains the admirable continency of their sealed chastity; in others, guards the laws of the Lord’s doctrine incorrupt and uncontaminated; destroys heretics, corrects the perverse, condemns infidels, makes known pretenders; moreover, rebukes the wicked, keeps the Church uncorrupt and inviolate, in the sanctity of a perpetual virginity and truth.

I have never found any so-called translation that goes so far away from what the scripture actually teaches, as these books published by Jehovah’s Witnesses. They are so far away from what there is in the original Hebrew and the original greek… You cant follow theirs [Bible] because it’s biased and it’s deceptive because they deliberately changed words in the passage of scripture to make it fit into their doctrine. They distorted the scripture, in many passages. Scores and scores of passages in the new testament, dealing in the deity of Christ especially.

“The Watch Tower Society will want to selectively quote BeDuhn’s book because he compliments portions of the New World Translation. On the other hand, considering what Truth in Translation also says about the New World Translation in areas of its weakness, the Watch Tower Society will need to proceed cautiously when quoting Truth in Translation. BeDuhn devoted an entire appendix (The Use of “Jehovah”) to the 237 occurrences of “Jehovah” in the New World Translation Greek Scriptures (New Testament). In that appendix he essentially denies the most prominent feature of the New World Translation’s Greek Scriptures when he disputes the appropriateness of using Jehovah in the New Testament.

What do other Bible scholars say about the New World Translation?
William Barclay, who was a theologian and Professor at the University of Glasgow, stated that “the deliberate distortion of truth by this sect is seen in the New Testament translation. … It is abundantly clear that a sect which can translate the New Testament like that is intellectually dishonest.”

Robert H. Countess, was a college professor, and held a Ph.D. in New Testament Greek said that the New World Translation “must be viewed as a radically biased piece of work.” He also authored the book “The Jehovah’s Witnesses’ New Testament“, an in-depth review about the accuracy of the New World Translation.

Anthony A. Hoekema, an associate professor, said that “Their New World Translation of the Bible is by no means an objective rendering of the sacred text into modern English, but is a biased translation in which many of the peculiar teachings of the Watchtower Society are smuggled into the text of the Bible itself.” [1]

Harold Henry Rowley, a highly respected Old Testament scholar and Professor of Hebrew and Semitic Languages at University College, Bangor, said that “From beginning to end this [first] volume is a shining example of how the Bible should not be translated.” [2]

The booklet says Hippolytus said God was “alone by himself” and “called into being what had no being before.” Both of these statements flow from standard understanding of the Trinity. The Trinity teaches there is only one God and all creation was called into being from nothing. The Watchtower then says Hippolytus taught the prehuman Jesus was called into being. Again they alter what Hippolytus believed. He never wrote those words. Hippolytus writes, “A man, therefore, even though he will it not, is compelled to acknowledge God the Father Almighty, and Christ Jesus the Son of God, who being God, became man, to whom also the Father made all things subject, Himself excepted, and the Holy Spirit; and that these, therefore, are three.”[4]

Later in the same work Hippolytus writes, “God, subsisting alone, and having nothing contemporaneous with Himself, determined to create the world… there was nothing contemporaneous with God. Beside Him there was nothing; but He, while existing alone, yet existed in plurality.”[5] Obviously, this plurality was the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as mentioned in the prior quote. The Trinity teaches there is only one God subsisting in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; co-equal and co-eternal. Hippolytus was a Trinitarian."

Your conclusion is a confusion of the words. For instance:

Gen 19:24: "Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;"

Two LORD'S. Two Persons/Beings acting in harmonious concert together as Father (Heaven) and Son (earth).

One standing in earth (see Gen. 17-19).

1 Corinthian 8:5 states, 5For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) 6 But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him. Psalms 82:1 Again, it speaks of the Council of the gods. It is not unusual for Angels to be called god. Even Abraham was called Lord by his wife, 1 Peter 3:6. God/Lord is only a title, even Satan is called the god of this system of things 2 Timothy 4:4. Wisdom like Holy Spirit is personified, but Wisdom is not a person, Proverbs 1:20. Jesus/Yeshua is our King our Lord our Redeemer, but he is not God, YHWH.
Psalms 82 does not speak about angels. It speaks about Judges on earth.

John 10:34-35

34 Jesus answered, “It is written in your law that God said, ‘I said you are gods.’[a] 35 This Scripture called those people gods—the people who received God’s message. And Scripture is always true.

Jesus clearly teaches that those in Psa 82:6 are people, not angels. run from the clowns who taught you otherwise.
