Hmm, in that case I'm not the only one around here discounting scripture

“And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days.
Joel 2:28‭-‬29 NKJV

It's so significant, it was even the basis of Peter's first sermon. But I'm sure you're well aware of these scriptures.
If you had read the posts already made you would know that Joel gave a prophecy to Israel. A very specific and precise prophecy to all flesh to receive the Holy Spirit and a much narrower prophecy for the sons, daughters, old men of Israel not Gentiles to dream dreams and have visions.

You offer nothing new and ignore the obvious. Shallow theology and a disregard of context is not worthy of accolades.

Hmmm, I believe God did say 'all flesh'.

So let me see here, God put to rest the division between Jew and Gentile, yet only pours out His Spirit on Jew only?

Ok so here is something I want to ask you. I am part Jewish more specifically my ancestors were Portuguese and were being attacked by the catholic church they were given the choice to accept the catholic faith or leave and they left and eventually came to america.
Now as I said I am part Jewish and I have ever since my salvation recieved many dreams and visions but I am only part Jewish and the other part gentile.

So if I am half and half is it biblical that I receive these things?

If you wish to discount what Joel actually said then help yourself. Joel said and Peter cited at Pentecost the Holy Spirit is given to all flesh at the moment of salvation. Dreams and vision and other signs are for Israel. Not that you care even in the least as you do not believe the word of God but are going about to change it to suit your behavior.

I'll grant that your interpretation of Joel's words is plausible, but it certainly is not the only plausible interpretation of that verse. It is at least equally plausible that God intended "sons and daughters" to mean "of all people on whom His spirit is poured out".

You might want to consider checking your attitude; it stinks of arrogance, making your tag line hypocritical.

Are you referring to Joel Osteen? I would discount just about everything that shyster says.

I believe that Joel's prophecy places these things in the latter times. Meaning just before the return of Christ and very close to the great tribulation. My opinion would be that this will be after the rapture of the church so you and I will already be with Christ.

I have no time for shallow and meaningless theology. Believe what you want. Romans 1:18-21 has an application for those who do not like what God has said.

Well admittedly I fell behind in the thread, which prophecy of Joel are you talking about?

Instead of actually defending your position, you attack those who disagree with you. That's the mark of fools and jack***es.

But calling him names only brings you down to his level, if one cannot be reasoned with you have to know when to shake the dust off your feet and walk away. What fruits can be produced in such a quarrel?
Debating is and can be good but when it just because a back and forth with no results or fruits of the spirit it is no longer a debate just bickering

Joel chapter 2 which is what Peter cited although he said it was not fully completed. The parts about the sky blackening and the moon along with the stars falling from heaven. These latter events lead on to consider that the unfulfilled portions will be at or near the tribulation time period.

Well I would have to agree, I mean even if I hadn't seen it for myself in my dreams and visions the scripture is pretty clear as to when this will happen. I think really the confusion comes from the timing of when the church will be taken. An event full of so much hope and joy yet the topic causes such division and anything but hope and joy.

Of course I knew you were referring to Joel the prophet and not Joel the shyster. :) What you have said is true, some people want to be entertained in a church setting hearing words that are soothing and pleasant to the ear, consuming a diet consisting of spiritual junk food at best and poison at worse. No spiritual nutritional value whatsoever.

Well we ought not to be surprised since the bible tells us it we be so as this old world winds itself into a know of sin and evil meriting Gods judgment.

I knew what you meant but was a little testy because of some other posts.

Well sadly that is what comes with interpretation. Even the most dedicated and well versed bible scholars will duke it out like children on this very subject it is ridiculous how a simple debate can turn us all into bickering children.
That is the issue of the difference in views understanding beliefs doctrine and denominations it is just far to divided and who can reason with such division? But if people are so steadfast in their own views that they remain blind to the truth even if it is presented to them then they can never learn, we all tend to think we know more than we actually do and is what leads to us not being able to learn.
And sometimes we can be more stubborn in our stands than a mule but I don't remeber stubborness being a fruit of the spirit, I mean Jesus came and introduced the new kingdom he was bringing to us if everyone was so stubborn in how they thought things were then they would have never received the salvation he gave.

I grimace every time I think of how Jesus-in-disguise might be treated if He walked into the average adult Sunday school class.
