I am having a second cup of coffee today :D I just returned from a grocery shopping excursion where I bought six liters of cranberry juice, on your strong recommendation @SoulWeaver ... among a few other things :) I had thought of it last time when I was in Capers/Whole Foods, but while looking a their juice selections it slipped my mind that cranberry was what I was actually looking for :LOL: This time however I skipped Capers and just went into Safeway. I also bought a turkey meatloaf :D Thanksgiving is coming up here, and it is very likely I will be spending it alone and not having dinner with my daughter's family as I normally would :( Speaking of turkey (gobble gobble!) my church fam is generously setting up a page for people to help me out with meals. I told them anything more than once a week would be too much  I love my church fam dearly as they are truly wonderful people :) The woman who is setting the page up has promised me turkey from their Thanksgiving dinner, with lots of stuffing. Oh my goodness, stuffing is the best :giggle: It is funny because I do not think of my diet as being really restricted right now, and yet in going over what I cannot or will not or do not like to eat, wow, the list just kept growing and growing o_O LOL! And I told her, no desserts ;) I have zero sweet tooth now! Except for coffee = sweet and creamy
Just about grabbed a cup of coffee myself... :coffee::coffee::coffee::coffee::D That's great that you were already able to pick the juice up.
Cooking for friends is fun, I like sharing food! I wish you lived closer. Unless when you're baking one of those 100.000. kiloton calorie cakes, then I'm glad you're far away. lol
I'm about to cook some sweet potatoes as a side to chicken thighs... I cut them thinly into fries and freeze in big amounts for convenience I like them more than normal fries... I either bake them or shallow fry on low on butter, spiced with this mix, if anyone wants to try: fish spice (with cinnamon), powdered garlic, nutmeg, black pepper, soul food spice (add cayenne pepper if you want more hotness), and I sometimes also add cheese spice for popcorn into that mix...

I have not baked one of those cakes for a while now ;):D What I have done, though, is opened a can of apple pie filling and put little bits of it into yogurt :) I like plain yogurt, and then add my own fruit, often a banana (bananas are a staple in my house :)) or apple sauce, or even both :) One of the 3L containers of cranberry juice is in the fridge now, cooling. I hope it helps :)

Oh, sweet potatoes are lovely :) I like your flavor combo! Cinnamon is lovely on chicken also, maybe add some orange juice? I used to like that Chinese 5 spice powder mix but then it got to me after a while. I saw a while ago you do not like the herb cumin? Or is it a spice? Cumin is a member of the parsley family. and is one of the most popular spices, commonly used in Latin American, Middle Eastern, North African, and Indian cuisines. I do really like East Indian food but cannot say I am a fan of cumin, either

Speaking of medical stuff, I have just started my chemo again, which is to go on for four months, plus, following surgery in mid August, I think I got a bladder infection or something from being catheterized... I was on a round of anti-biotics for it that ended a week ago Sunday, but unfortunately it did not clear up, and last night I was experiencing quite a bit of shooting pain in my urethra. I hope my doctor can simply order more meds for me without me having to go in to see her  I am supposed to have a tele-conference with her later this week also. [/QUOTE

Mag,
just a share:
we have been taking care of hub's sister for quite a while now, and we have begun to notice a very real pattern
when she is prescribed antibiotics', she almost always gets 'bladder infections, FROM the antibotics', which of course
compromises her natural-IMMUNE SYSTEM'...
we are NOT against 'antibiotics', they surely have a useful purpose, BUT, when OVER-Prescribed, they 'back-fire',-
they begin to KILL ALL of our GOOD bacteria, and thus we have a 'catch-22'...
personally, for both of us, especially at our age, we would NEVER RELY on 'pharmakia' for a reliable source for
any kind of healing...

That is true, over-used anti-biotics can surely be a problem.

I had C-Difficile (Clostridium difficile) a few years ago as a result of anti-biotics  Oy, and then they give you more anti-biotics to try to clear it up. One they put me on was $400.00 o_O And it did not even work. I had an aged but healthy aunt who died as a result of C-Difficile. She contracted it going to physiotherapy and they did not diagnose her in time to prevent her death :(:(

This is true, and often yeast infections follow up as well if antibiotics weren't followed up by probiotics.

Women can even insert yogurt into their body to help with a yeast infection :ROFL::LOL:
People though hope too much in yogurt when it comes to probiotics, it's constantly touted but yogurt mostly runs through the bowels: it only helps while it's there, but doesn't colonize.
If someone wants to colonize the gut, but doesn't want commercial probiotic, yogurt is useless they're better off with water kefir and kombucha, but the best is milk kefir grains.

I am aware how sadly in the West all medical schools that focused on herbs and holistic approach were shut down historically.
Western medicine is amazing for emergency situations like no other and we need it, but for chronic problems one needs to go back to traditional medicine and change lifestyle so the body can have the best conditions to thrive. Health is thriving, not an absence of illness, and also encompasses mental and spiritual health. One can be seemingly "healthy" but have low energy and low immunity, which isn't health. Modern medicine only treats the symptom and doesn't even seem interested to learn about and understand the causes and what actually went wrong.
Herbs are also chemicals - they just can't be patented. And being organic, they are usually closer to our chemistry than artificial compounds which sometimes kill and unlike herbs were not tested over thousands of years in practice (statins, etc). Not to say that plant medicines can be used recklessly, excessively, or ignorantly.
People often turn to Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine now, as these cultures unlike the West have kept their herbal lore and hold it in high regard. I don't align with religious approach to it, but as for understanding of what herb and food is beneficial for various diseases, it's simply a result of accumulated knowledge by human observation over thousands of years. All herbal cures were created by God, satan doesn't get to claim it.

Apparently, he caught the connecting flight to Banville. Funny guy though. Kind of interesting too.
We will never find out what happened with McDonalds girl or what narcissist woman he met next.:(
