The Greek tenses for how each gift is to end are not the same.
Some have instant ends. Which would indicate the return of Christ.
Others are to die down and gradually die out on their own.
That will not happen when Christ appears.
All will change in an instant.
When Jesus appears, it's all going to be in an instant!
The Tongues people have no idea why tongues (means speaking in foreign languages) was given by God.
There are no real ones. Only more sophisticated ones in what they present.
Witches speak in tongues! Tibetan monks speak in tongues!
They experience a real thing! But not the real tongues of the sign gift God gave as a sign to rebellious Jews!
The purpose in speaking other languages (tongues) was to be a sign to the Jews who were rejecting Jesus as the Messiah.
It was not to even Gentiles, though God would use Gentiles to speak in other languages that a Jew would understand, and
know that the gentile does not speak that language! The Jews who rejected the sign were equated with Pharaoh who rejected
the signs that God gave him. Paul rebuked the Jews in that manner! They hated him for it!
Look again. Speaking in other languages was a sign to the Jews who were going to reject Him as Messiah!
Jews require a sign!
Paul explained that even though God would give the Jews such a sign, that they still would refuse Him!

The way the tongues people do it today even makes Jews feel totally justified for rejecting Jesus....

I always thought tongues was for edifying and strngthening the church if it is just for signs for the jews then why did I encounter real tongues the few times I did? you can tell the real thing from fake because you are stirred inside your stregthened in the spirit but the fake tongues..... that is just people who know how to speak hebrew in the church I atteneded the pastors spoke tongues over me and I felt in my spirit this life and power but that same day another person tried to speak the same way but nothing just fake
I am not an unbelieving jew but I encountered the real thing though I did encounter it one time before with this man who had a studdering propblem but in the middle of prayer began speaking tongues fluently with no studder at all

I don't believe in any of the crazier stuff like being slain in the spirit because falling backward and acting weird is nowhere a blessing in the Bible, but the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the Bible are still in operation today because that which is perfect (complete) hasn't come yet.
But you probably think it already has.
To me it's not something to argue about. I think God takes good care of all of his people whether they believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit or not. He exercises the gifts of the Holy Spirit in His people who believe Him for that and they benefit from them. And I've also seen God bless His children who don't believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit too.

You can be hypnotized, sir.
Not everyone can be hypnotized...
A hypnotist can cause people to think they are speaking in a foreign language, and even make another think he is able to interpret it.
I have witnessed to a hypnotist place his hand on people, and they fell backwards, just like we see with those slain in the spirit.
Everything you see at some charismatic meeting can be duplicated in a secular setting with a gifted hypnotist.
We will be deceived if we can not understand God's Word.

I agree with you on this the tongues you see that gibberish is not tongues in the slightest but speaking in other languages is something witches can do as well just not by the power of the holy spirit
I have encountered many fake tongues by both those of the occult and by christians I have encountered very few actual tongues so by all accounts I should not believe tongues are for today but I do

Look at his doctrine which he learned from Oral Roberts who proclaimed God instructed that if his followers did not provide 7 million dollars that God Himself would kill Oral Roberts.
I am not Methodist like those who came out of the Oral Roberts Ministry so not fully understanding that doctrine leads me to wonder about anything Preachers like Hagin, Copeland, and many others do. Many things don't make sense. But I will say this much. IF GOD CALLED THEM TO PREACH THEN I ADHERE TO WHAT THE BIBLE CLAIMS "DO NOT TOUCH MY ANOINTED."
