You avoid many scriptures to hold to your beliefs.. you actually understand not most scripture you propose.. but GOD is good and may you one day fall on the rock and be broken.
Not really....context, verbiage, verb tense all prove eternal security.....Jesus did not say the plenteous in number that gets cast trusted salvation by grace thru faith....they trusted into a working for dogma....so....I suggest you re-evaluate your law keeping, working for dogma

Thayer Definition:
1) an embezzler, pilferer
1a) the name is transferred to false teachers, who do not care to instruct men, but abuse their confidence for their own gain
Part of Speech: noun masculine
A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: from G2813

Sounds to me like a hireling...false prophet.
Exactly, it is a PERSON, not religion. The following is from John chapter ten:

Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

Maybe the blind will see it now :)

No matter how they slice and dice....one who teaches temporal salvation that can be lost teaches a works based false gospel.....at the end of the day their salvation (false) must be kept, maintained or re-earned by something that they must do....this denies the work of Christ on their behalf and exactly why the number that gets cast from his presence is plenteous.....most trust works or a cafe blend of works!

How many works do you have to do to keep a free gift you never earned in the first place?
They should all.study the word plenteous (many) as applied unto those who push works....Cain pushed works and is identified as a false teacher in Jude!

Utter nonsense and more of your man-centric false gospel.

No truly converted person "stops believing" and you've been shown this many times from Scripture. You simply cannot trust that God does all the saving, you just don't believe the Gospel and true conversion.

What you are preaching is that man saves himself by the work of continuing to believe. You misunderstand so much Scripture to arrive at this it is remarkable to witness you perpetually preaching your false gospel of you, and works.

There you go again with the same nonsense. You're stuck on this "stop believing" stuff. So, you better keep on trying to make sure you keep on believing son, or you'll end up in hell and undo Scripture.

More nonsense...

Even more misunderstanding of the Gospel above.

Keep on trying friend, maybe you'll make it into heaven if you don't stop believing, if you fail to do this you won't be able to help Jesus get you into heaven.

One thing you don't understand is that people can be sanctified by the faith, set apart under its influence, taste of these things, follow the faith (the system of teachings) does not entail true conversion. That said all your above is false hypotheses and misapplication of Scripture.

Also, there are no orthodox church fathers who preached your nonsense. You've merely taken a verse or two about believing in vain and out of Colossians 1:23 and have run amok with false assumptions of the texts. Go quote some church fathers who believe your false gospel.

(If any are looking in, don't buy this dudes false gospel wares he's peddling. Trust in Christ and His finished work.)
Amen.....that particular view denies that JESUS BEGINS and FINISHES the good work of FAITH HE BEGAN IN US.....a very weak Jesus they serve.....the Jesus I serve promised to COMPLETE what he began in me and he said he will never leave us or forsake us.....

If you can lose your salvation and not get it back, we are all in trouble.

I know what Scripture you're taking this idea from, but it's not at all correct.

The idea that you look at your actions to determine if your saved is circumstantial at best. Which actions? What does holy look like? Maybe your holiness and my holiness are different? After all Paul said they were when he compared people who EAT meat sacrificed and those who didn't. He said our heart had a LOT to do with it. What about people who are scared they will lose their salvation? Have they already what do you tell them?

I can't imagine what your gospel sounds like when you're teaching to a new convert. Okay, so I hope you stay saved, but if you don't you're done. So make sure you do everything the Bible teaches. Okay you ready to accept Jesus? Here's a 5 page list of things you're going to need to give up... you don't listen to rock music do you? No more of that. Also you know your body is his temple? What you eat junk food, you take pharmaceuticals, you smoke??? Oh you're out. See me when you're ready to really give it all up. Hope you don't die first. Remember, Jesus loves you!

There is no security at all in what you're teaching the Bible teaches.

Love one another. Do you love people 100%? What if Jesus meant you're supposed to sell all and give it to the poor, have you done it? Jesus told someone he had to do it to be saved. So why doesn't this apply to you?

This is such a slippery slope.

Holding fast is believing you're a new creation in Christ. It's not trying to be one.
It actually proves the exact opposite of his view......

Just to clarify: those who were insisting that Judas was saved did so simply on the basis that he was among those who followed Jesus, and was chosen as an apostle. They also scoffed at the idea of him not being saved because he was sent out to do works (though we have no record of his "good" works, only "bad" works), and then one in particular mocked the idea that not all who do works are saved. Of course, that is one of the dividing lines too, isn't it? Those who think that doing works will save them when even Jesus said He will say, "I never knew you" to some who will claim to have done works in his name (including casting out demons).
All scriptures taken = he was lost and never saved!

I think they needed to say Judas was saved at one time so they could claim it is possible to lose salvation. Jesus called Judas the son of perdition. The root of that word ( ἀπώλεια, ας, ἡ , perdition, Strong's 684. apóleia) is the same as word 622, perish (ἀπόλλυμι) which means, utter destruction, the fate promised to non believers in the second death.
I agree......and then the flip side of the coin is the Prodigal.....the same ones who say salvation can be lost will say they have never been lost....always, 100% of the time, keeping the law, doing good works always walking faithful etc......they will also say knce it is lost it cannot be re-gained while taking Hebrews put of context to support their fallacy!!

Grace doesn't please the flesh, it pleases the Spirit.

And please don't forget that pleasing the flesh came by Adam & Eve first stretching out their hand to eat of a forbidden fruit so that they might figure out what they could DO to be like God.

A gospel that tries to add to what God has done is what pleases the flesh.

It puffs itself up, calls itself Lord, and tries to pick up where Jesus left off.

It rationalizes, analyzes, and justifies its self-driven actions while pitting itself against the Spirit.

Paul tells us to be wary of any foolishness that says, we must complete by the flesh, what was started by the Spirit.

The flesh doesn't understand the power of cross, so it believes it must do something to keep itself. And when asked why they should be able come face-to-face with their Lord will they point to their works or will they point to His?

Make no mistake, those who take the lowly seat not the high seat will be exalted. What is the lowly seat? I am here because of You Lord. And later He will bring up your works and He will bring you in honor to another position of the table, but make sure you're wearing the wedding garments which is Christ's righteousness.

Why do you think it is said let us go beyond elementary things? Because you first discover who you are in Christ by the Spirit so that you might be lead by the Spirit and go on into maturity.

And until we see each other and ourselves by the Spirit, we are being flesh lead not Spirit lead. Until we are Spirit lead we see many believers instead of One Body, we have many "self-lead minds" instead of being lead by One Mind (The Mind of Christ) together by His Spirit.

First we are REBORN to be enter into the Kingdom of God. We are not reborn, fall away, and reborn again, fall away, and reborn again. This is foolishness that doesn't understand spiritual things. This idea denies the reality of who we are in Christ. It IS unbelief. Which leads to doubt.

And further, God said He would never leave us, the argument to this is well He didn't say we wouldn't leave Him! This is crazy talk, if I tell you I'm not going to leave you EVER and you try to leave me, I'm going to follow you around. I'm not going to leave you. The only way we "leave God" is through our minds being darkened to the goodness of God.

This is why RENEWING of the mind is so important. A renewed mind is lead by the Spirit. An unrenewed mind is lead by the flesh.

Grace is the Spirit's leading. We don't need to minimize it. We need to maximize it.

Only FAITH pleases Him. Of which the flesh has none.

All scriptures taken = he was lost and never saved!
Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not every one of you.” For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said, “Not all of you are clean.”

Not sure how any can interpret that to mean Judas was saved

a work is a work is a work

a work is something you do which takes energy, which is done to accomplish a set goal, which in the end earns a wage, or a reward.

Any one who says we must work to gain, maintain or prevent from losing salvation, no matter how the term the word "work" is defined, is preaching a works based salvation and rejects grace.

Amen.....LORD, LORD HAVE WE NOT DONE MANY WONDERFUL WORKS IN YOUR NAME......more CAINOLOGY FROM THE WORKERS FOR.....

I can see that willybob has bought into the same faulty logic as Roman Catholics and Campbellites in regards to works. They try to dissect good works from the moral aspect of the law and teach that we are saved by "these" works and just not "those" works.

Here is a statement from a Campbellite that I was in a discussion with - "It is works of obedience that help to save us, not works of the law or works of merit."

I did not realize that Christ needed our help. Of course, that statement is an oxymoron because works of obedience cannot be dissected from the moral aspect of the law and if we were saved by works of obedience, that would be works of merit.

Works of the law covers works in general (Matthew 22:37-40), which is why Paul not only said that we are not saved by works/works of the law, but he also said not saved by "works of righteousness which we have done" (Titus 3:5) and he also said that God saved us and called us with a holy calling, "not according to our works" (2 Timothy 1:9). So the saved by "these" works and just not "those" works argument is bogus.
Called CAINOLOGY........the first lost man started the working for false gospel.......He too will make the plenteous in number that gets cast.....!

I wonder about those who claim sinless perfectionism. Just like I wonder about any who claim they are no longer in need of God's grace, or that they are worthy of what God freely gives them, or that the righteousness found through putting on Christ is their own.

again: You have no clue of the biblical definition of grace. You've made it into a license to sin as Jude said you would...As you continue to argue in favour of sin, the nakedness of your beliefs can be clearly seen by those looking on with discerning eyes.......No matter what you say, without holiness no one will see the Lord..this includes you....
Funny thing...the workers for believe their works save them yet consistently twist and embellish what is said by those who teach a grace, faith based eternal salvation......EG has never once stated what you state in this post...so how does misrepresenting the truth about what one believes and teaches help a working for salvation Dogma....???

I would hope those who are so passionate about preaching against works based salvation are actually doing works themselves for the Lord.
