Sure it’s important I don’t think that how we pray changes based on what we’re praying about is my position . I think Jesus taught us to pray and what I myself , and this is just what I take out of it , what we are praying for doesn’t change how we are taught to pray
ultimately I think anytime believers come together in prayer is a good godly thing to do .
but again that’s just my own take and I respect you’re also . Thanks for dropping some thoughts
Hi my brother in Christ.
In a sense I see what you are saying. For me I was just addressing the verses you quoted and the context of verses, which is basically conflict resolution and if the process is followed by the very words of Jesus and no resolution is found then basically put them away.
Matthew 18:15-20
Dealing with a Sinning Brother
15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
16 But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’
17 And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
18 “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
19 “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.
20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
Then we find in C19
Matthew 18:21-22
The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
What I find interesting is that Peter asks this question. Was he infact being generous?
I think he thought he was possibly looking for commendation but also considering a brother who sins against him as an enemy.
Tradition in the OT
Amos 1:3
Judgment on the Nations
3 Thus says the Lord:
“For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four,
I will not turn away its punishment,
Because they have threshed Gilead with implements of iron.
This is what the Rabbi's taught.
The above verses indicate an enemy.
Yet we know when Peter realised that the gospel was for the Gentiles as well they were actually brothers in Christ.
Jesus really raised the bar here.
He even said "Love your enemies"
Forgive as you have been forgiven.
Jesus taught us how to pray.
Yes I agree and it's the model prayer.
It's not a word prayer but a spiritual one as well.
