LoveGodForever said: What is the Old and New Covenant to you and what is the difference between the Old and New Covenant laws?
the New Covenant was explained by Jesus at the last supper. the Mosaic Law was given at Sinai to the nation of Israel only. the Abrahamic Covenant was fulfilled at the coming of Christ. so, the New covenant, Luke 23, does not point back to Sinai, it points to the cross.
and renewed is Hebrew roots invention.
Hi gb9,

Thanks for your post. Let's have a look at the Old and NEW Covenants from God's Word. What was the Old Covenant.........

Deuteronomy 4
13, And he declared unto you HIS COVENANT, which he commanded you to perform, EVEN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

God's Law was part of the Old Covenant and the Mosaic laws for remission of sin written in a book................

Exodus 24
5, And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the LORD.
6, And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7, AND HE TOOK THE BOOK OF THE COVENANT AND READ IN THE AUDIENCE OF THE PEOPLE: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient.
8, And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, BEHOLD THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.Deuteronomy 29
21, And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, ACCORDING TO ALL THE CURSES OF THE COVENANT THAT ARE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THIS LAW:

Deuteronomy 31
24, And it came to pass, when MOSES HAD MADE AN END OF WRITING THE WORDS OF THIS BOOK, UNTIL THEY WERE FINISHED,
25, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,
26, TAKE THIS BOOK OF THE LAW, AND PUT IT IN THE SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT OF THE LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee

So it is very clear that God's Law (10 commandments) and the Mosaic laws written in a book together made up the Old Covenant to God's people. The Ark of the Covenant was the home of the covenant to God and His people which God's Word says includes both (1) God’s Law (10 commandments) written on stone and (2) The laws of Moses written in book. Together these made up the Old Covenant.

God's Law (10 commandment) written on stone as well as the Mosaic Laws for remission of sin. Both had a different purpose under the Old Covenant. God's Law was the standard of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS. While the Mosaic laws were for the remission of sin if someone broke any of the 10 commandments.

What does God's Word say about the purpose of God's Law and the Mosaic law............................

(1) God’s Law (10 commandments)
Purpose; reveals what sin and righteousness (right doing) is and the describes the penalty for sin (Romans 3:20; 1 John3:4; Romans 6:23). It was never a cure for sin. But it was the work of God which is forever and the foundation of the Old Covenant, the New Covenant and the Judgement to come. (Exodus 32:16; Exodus 31:18; 31:18; Exodus 20:1-22; Deuteronomy 10:5; Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4; Romans 6:23; Hebrews 7:19; Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31; Ps 111:7-8; Revelation 12:17; 14:12; 22:14; 1 John 3:5-8; 1 John 2:3-4; Ecclesiastes 3:14)

(2) The laws of Moses (Levitical, ceremonial, sacrificial)
Purpose; was the prescriptive cure for sin with all the Levitical and ceremonial laws, burnt offerings for sin, annual feast days foretelling the plan of salvation which were connected to Feast days with New Moon sabbaths, food and drink offerings and other Holy days. These where all types pointing to Jesus and the plan of salvation and provided a cure for sin through animal sacrifice and food and drink offerings and yearly sin atonement's for God’s people. (Leviticus 1:1-13; Leviticus 23:1-44; Numbers 28:1-31; 29:1-40; Deuteronomy 24:10-11; Exodus 24:3; Deuteronomy 31:24-26; Colossians 2:16-16; Hebrews 10:1; Ephesians 2:14-15; Leviticus 4; 5; 6; Hebrews 4:14; 9;10; John 1:29; not exhaustive there are many more).

Why were the ceremonial laws of Moses (handwriting of ordinances) nailed to the cross and shadows of things to come......

Jesus was our true sacrifice for our sins and the saviour of the world that the ceremonial laws of Moses all pointed to. When Jesus came and died the old Covenant laws of Moses that pointed to Jesus and the plan of salvation was fulfilled (John 1:29; 36; Revelation 5:6; 1 Corinthians 5:6-7; Hebrews 8:2-13; 9:1-28). Jesus is our true Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world and our sacrifice for our sins. It is our sins as well as the ceremonial laws of Moses that were nailed to the cross at the death of Jesus (Colossians 2:14; Ephesians 2:15; John 3:16).

More scriptures on this subject here linked, showing the Shadows of the Mosaic laws linking Old Testament and New Testament scriptures...........

Just as the Mosaic laws were temporary pointing to Jesus, God's Law is forever and the standard of the Old Covenant the New Covenant and the Judgement to come......

The Law of God (10 commandments) which includes the 4th commandment is the work of God (Exodus 32:16 ) whatsoever God does is forever n othing can be added to it or taken away ( Ecclesiastes 3:14 ). God's Law is perfect converting the soul (Psalms 19:7). It is the very standard of the Old and New Covenants (Exodus 20:1:17, Hebrews 8:10-12). God's Law w as spoken by God himself to His people ( Exodus 20:1-22 ). Jesus says Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words s hall not pass away (Matthew 25:35). Gods Law is still in force today ( Psalms 111:7-8, Revelation 12:17, 14:12, 22:14, 1 John 3:5-8, 1 John 2:3-4 etc.). The Law of God reveals sin to us so we can see ourselves as we truly are sinners in need of a Saviour ( Romans 3:20; 1 John 3:4 ). It is the great standard of the judgement (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14, James 2:10-12, 1 John 3:4, Acts 17:31). God's Law is our teacher revealing sin and the character of Go d and brings us to Christ at the foot of the cross that we might be saved by faith by Him who loves us and washed us in His own blood (Galatians 3:24; Revelation 1:5).

The New Covenant of LOVE.............

Hebrews 8
10, For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of ISRAEL after those days, saith the Lord; I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MINDS AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEART: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
11, And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12, For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

In the New Covenant Jesus sacrifice is for our remission of SINS we are no longer under the Law of Moses. God's Law however remains the same as it always has as the standard of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS and leads all who would seek forgiveness to our Savoir. God's Law under the New Covenant for the BELIEVER is no longer written on stone but on the heart because they BELIEVER walks by faith through LOVE in God's Word (Spirit) and LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW in the BELIEVER. (Hebrews chapters 8-10; Galatians 3:24-25)

Jesus says; Now you are CLEAN THROUGH THE WORD which I have spoken unto you. ABIDE IN ME <the Word>, and I IN YOU. As the branch cannot BEAR FRUIT of itself, except it abide in the vine; NO MORE CAN YOU, except you ABIDE IN ME. I am the vine, ye are the branches: HE THAT ABIDES IN ME AND I IN HIM, the same brings forth much FRUIT: for WITHOUT ME <the Word> YOU CAN DO NOTHING. If a man ABIDE NOT IN ME <the Word>, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye ABIDE IN ME <the Word>, and MY WORDS ABIDE IN YOU, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, THAT YOU BARE MUCH FRUIT; SO SHALL YOU BE MY DISCIPLES. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. IF YOU KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS, YOU SHALL ABIDE IN MY LOVE; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love (John 15:3-10).

God's Law (10 commandments) are still the standard of SIN and RIGHTEOUSNESS. If we break any of God’s Laws we stand guilty before God in SIN (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20). This includes the 4th commandment which is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has lead many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:26-27; 31)

May God bless you as you seek him through His Word.

It so great to be free of all the Old Testament shadows and to live in truth, light and simplicity of the New Testament, without days observing, food laws etc.

But, on the other hand, it goes much deeper, into thoughts, intentions, our own nature. Not just our visible acts like in the Old Testament.

NEW COVENANT OF LOVE

Hebrews 8

10, For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I WILL PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MIND, AND WRITE THEM ON THEIR HEARTS: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11, And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. 12, for I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

God Fulfilling His Law (10 commandments) IN US through Faith?

The fulfilling of the God's Law in us who walk not after the flesh (carnal mind = sin) but after the Spirit (new mind with God's Law written on the heart) ( Romans 8:1 ). That the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled IN US who walk not after the flesh (carnal mind = sin) but after the spirit (Rom 8:4; 6). Salvation is God fulfilling his Law in us saving us from sin. Finally the result of God's salvation can be seen as " Here is the patience of the saints: here are th ey that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus (Rev 14:12). God's people with the character of Jesus saved by faith through love. Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, whosoever commits sin is the servant of sin. If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (John 8:34-36)

If you are partaking of the New Covenant and you have been born again and are walking in the Spirit. You will not steal, lie, murder, commit adultery or break any of God's commandments because God's Law of love has been written on your heart.

These are ll a part of God’s Law (the 10 commandments). So under the New Covenant, you will not murder and steal. So let’s look at all of God’s Law applying the same thinking (Ex 20:1-17). This indeed is the new covenant experience spoken of in Jer 31:31-34; Eze 36:26-27 and repeated in Heb 8:10-12; 10:16-17.

“33I will put my law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. No more shall every man teach his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they all shall know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” This is the law of love to God and to our neighbour.

So now under the new covenant when God changes our heart; we will love God and our neighbour.

if we love God we will not steal
if we love God we will not murder
if we love God we will not commit adultery
if we love God we will not lie
if we love God we will honor our parents
if we love God we will not covet
if we love God we will have no other gods except our God who loves us
if we love God we will not make unto any idols
if we love God we will not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain
if we love God we will Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy as he asked us to!

God’s Law has always been central to both the Old and the New Covenant. It is only by the operation of God as we have Faith in His Word that God changes our hearts so that we can love him and love our neighbour that we can walk in his ways. This is why Jesus says its only if you love me we can keep hid commandments (John 14:15)

Psalms 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalms 51:11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
Psalms 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalms 51:13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

Love is the fulfilling of the God’s Law in us who walk by faith that works by love and is why love is the fulfilling of God’s Law in us who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit….

This is why Jesus says if you love me keep my commandments; He that says he knows him and keeps not his commandments is a liar and the truth is not in him. (John 14:15; 1 John 2:2-4). This includes the 7th Day Sabbath which is one of the 10 (Exodus 20:8-11)

NOW this is the experience of the believer who by faith alone lays hold of the promises of God to know the power of God unto salvation. This is what it means to be a believer or to believe God's Word. If you believe God's Word you have the fruit of faith which is obedience to God through love.

Now what about the UNBELIEVER or someone that does NOT BELIEVE God.....................

Without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:26) because our salvation depends on us believing God's Word. It is the means of salvation from our sins. Unbelief (not having faith) in God's Word caused the fall of mankind and has given us the knowledge of good and evil. It is unbelief (not believing God's Word) that separates us from God and leads us to be lost. In light of the above and the New Covenant of love here are a few questions to think about.......

When God tells us to have no other God's before Him and we disobey Him, is this having faith in God's Word?

When God says you should not make any idols and we disobey Him, is this having faith in God's Word?

When God says we should not use His name in vain and we disobey Him, is this having faith in God's Word?

When God tells us to remember His Sabbath day and keep it Holy and we disobey God is this having faith in God's Word?

When God tells is to honor our mother and father and we disobey Him is this having faith in Gods Word?

When God says to us do not commit adultery and we commit adultery is this unbelief (not having faith)?

When God tells us not to lie and we lie is this having faith in God's Word?

When God says to us not to steal, and we steal is this having faith in God's Word?

When God says to us not to kill, and we kill is this having faith in God's Word?

When God says to us not to covet our neighbors things and we disobey God, is this having faith in God's Word?

All the above can be summed up as ......

"And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." ( Deut 6:5 ) and "thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD. ( Lev 19:18 ). On these two commandments hang all the Law and the prophets (Matt 22:40)

Not having faith is a sin because your rejecting Gods Word. The word of God clearly tells us though that...

"Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." (1John 3:4)

Faith is the means to salvation but obedience is the fruit of salvation if you are still in your sins you have not seen him or known him

"Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believe that there is one God; thou does well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? (James 2:17-20).

There is a salvation issue alright and it is over SIN which transgression of God's Law and UNBELIEF in God's Word (James 2:11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Romans 3:20; Romans 14:23).

If any of us are living a life of known unrepentant SIN it is God's Word that says you will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven not mine.

Hebrews 10
26, For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.

1 John 3:6,
Whosoever abides in him sins not: whosoever sins hath not seen him, neither known him.

1 John 2
3, And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4, He that saith, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

LOVE IS THE FULFILLING OF GOD'S LAW IN THOSE WHO HAVE FAITH AND WALK IN HIS SPIRIT (Romans 13:8-10; Romans 8:1-4; 6)

We must point all to the Word of God because it is only in the Word of God anyone can know the truth and the truth will make us free......

Galatians 3:10-11
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

If you are looking back to the OT and you think you need to take saturdays off because of it, you are working at the law. There's no way around it. You have voluntarily placed yourself under the curse.

For what purpose? Not sure of that one, to be honest.

You have decided that your work at the law is more important than receiving Rest from Christ.

Galatians 3:2-3

2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

The Judaizers answer to this is that they did receive the Spirit by their works at the law. This makes their answer to the second question 'Are you so foolish', yes.

This is the description of what Sabbath is;

Hebrews 4:2-11

2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

For this to make any sense to you, you must come to Christ, first. You must receive the Rest that He gives as His Gift. But you must also know that without a doubt you cannot perform His Perfect Law. You must know that you need His Help.

You are told this over and over in the bible but very few grasp it.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

2 Corinthians 3:5-6
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually helpless.

The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

That last one was from Gods Word translation.

Matthew 5:3
“·They are blessed who ·realize their spiritual poverty [L are the poor in spirit],
for the kingdom of heaven ·belongs to them

Thats from the Expanded Bible version.

Romans 7:14
For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

That's why those who work at the law are under the curse. They don't realize their Spiritual Poverty and their subsequent need for Christ. They end up making the spiritual law into carnal commandment.

Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

We have been made free from the law of sin and death, working at the law, causing the law to be carnal, by coming to Christ and receiving His Spirit.

We have been blessed by Christ because we knew our Spiritual Poverty.

So do we go back to the law after we have been blessed by Christ? No, of course not. We stay where we are blessed.

Galatians 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Romans 7:6
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

Galatians 2:19-21

19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

1 John 5:2-3, "By this we know that we love the children of Yah, when we love Yah and guard His commands. For this is the love for Yah, that we guard His commands, and His commands are not heavy."

Isaiah 24:1-6, "See, יהוה is making the earth empty and making it waste, and shall overturn its surface, and shall scatter abroad its inhabitants. 2 And it shall be – as with the people so with the priest, as with the servant so with his master, as with the female servant so with her mistress, as with the buyer so with the seller, as with the lender so with the borrower, as with the creditor so with the debtor; 3 the earth is completely emptied and utterly plundered, for יהוה has spoken this word. 4 The earth shall mourn and wither, the world shall languish and wither, the haughty people of the earth shall languish. 5 For the earth has been defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the Torah, changed the law, broken the everlasting covenant. 6 Therefore a curse shall consume the earth, and those who dwell in it be punished. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth shall be burned, and few men shall be left.

Matt 24:21-2, "For then will be great tribulation, such as has not come to pass since the beginning of the world to this time--no, nor ever will be. And unless those days were shortened, there would no flesh be saved; but for the elect's sake, those days will be shortened."

Isayah 51:6, “Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look on the earth beneath, for the heavens shall vanish like smoke, and the earth wear out like a garment, and those who dwell in it die as gnats. But My deliverance is forever, and My righteousness is not broken."

ya'll can pluck verses out of context all you want, it does not change reality. Christians are not under the Law of Moses, gentiles never were. 1st John chapter 3 explains- the commands of God for Christians are believe in the Son and love one another. if you disagree with this, take it up with John. he said it.

Romans 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are those who recognize they are spiritually helpless.
The kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Galatians 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Wonderful passages, I really really like the one about going to Yahshua for rest, the world is so sin sick and fuly of the ways of death, Yahshua shining even a glimpse of light into our lives is certianly a joy and a rest from wickedness.

well, since the same guy wrote both the letters, 1st John, Revelations , I would assume he meant the same commands he laid out in the 3rd chapter of His first letter.

That's one of my favorites, too. Right next to 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'.

What do you think He means by Rest?

Do you think He means work harder at the law? Or do you think He gives us rest from our carnal understanding and subsequent carnal work at His Spiritual Law?

ONly those from the 3rd chapter and thats it?

What about Acts 15? What about everything Yahshua/Jesus said? What about everything YHWH said?

What about what John said in his 1st letter; "from the beginning"

1 Yahanan /John 2:3-7, “And by this we know that we know Him, if we guard His commands. By this we know that we are in Him. The one who says he stays in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked. I explained a bit what I think He means in the post you replied to, it is not a rest from righteousness, it's a rest from the ways opf the world which are sin, sin is transgression of the Law.

For if sin is transgrewssion of the Law;

1 John 3:4, "Whoever commits sin, transgresses also the Law; for sin is the transgression of the Law."

266 hamartian ἁμαρτίαν sin

and He gave us a new heart to obey His Laws;

Ezekiel 11:19-21, “And I shall give them one heart, and put a new spirit within you. And I shall take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, so that they walk in My laws, and guard My right-rulings, and shall do them. And they shall be My people and I shall be their Strength. But to those whose hearts walk after the heart of their disgusting matters and their abominations, I shall recompense their deeds on their own heads,” declares the Master יהוה.”

Jeremiah 31:33, "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israyl: After those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law (Torah/Instructions) in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and I will be their Strength, and they will be My people."

Hebrews 10:16, "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says YHWH: I will put My Law into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.”

We would no longer be in bondage to sin.

1 John 5:18, "We know that everyone having been born of YHWH does not sin, but the one having been born of YHWH guards himself, and the wicked one does not touch him.”

264 hamartanei ἁμαρτάνει, continue to sin

Romans 7:25, “Thanks be to YHWH, I have deliverance through Yahshua Messiah our King! So then, with this same mind, I myself serve the Law of YHWH, while in the flesh that is yet subject to the law of sin.”

So no it is not a rest from doing righteous works, but a rest from the ways of the word/satan which is isn.

but the be all end all ultimate rest? is The Kingdom, after all Yahshua/Jesus did preach the good news of the Kingdom.

2 Thessalonians 1:5-10, “Clear evidence of the righteous judgment of יהוה, in order for you to be counted worthy of the reign of יהוה, for which you also suffer, since יהוה shall rightly repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give you who are afflicted rest with us when the Master יהושע is revealed from heaven with His mighty messengers, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know יהוה, and on those who do not obey the Good News of our Master יהושע Messiah, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Master and from the esteem of His strength, when He comes to be esteemed in His set-apart ones and to be admired among all those who believe in that Day, because our witness to you was believed.”

It is plainly written;

"to give you who are afflicted rest with us when the Master יהושע is revealed from heaven with His mighty messengers, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know יהוה"

that is why Hebrews 4 says;

Hebrews 4:1-11, "Therefore, since a promise of entering His rest remains, let us fear so that none of you should come short of it. For this message was preached to us, as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not benefit them, because they did not share in the faith of those who obeyed-- However, we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: So I vowed in My wrath, They will not enter into My rest, although the works were finished from the foundation of the world, For He spoke in a certain place of the Seventh Day, in this way: And Yahweh rested the Seventh Day from all His works. And in this place again: If they will enter into My rest. Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, Again, He designates a certain day, saying in David: ''Today,'' after so long a time, as it has been said: Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts. If Yahshua (ben Nun) had given them rest he would not have spoken afterward of another day. Therefore, there remains the keeping of the Sabbath (word G#4520) to the people of Yahweh, For he who has entered into His rest (word G#2663) has also ceased from his own works, as Yahweh did from His. Therefore, let us be zealous to enter into that rest (word G#2663), so that no one may fall after the same example of unbelief."
remembe before you claim im wonrg:

""to give you who are afflicted rest with us when the Master יהושע is revealed from heaven with His mighty messengers, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know יהוה""

1st John 3 comes after 1st John 2. you do read letters forward, do you not? if you have a 3 page letter, do you read 2-3-1? if not, why do you keep trying to say that John meant something other that what he explained .

chapter 3 v.11 John says that the new is the same as the old- love one another. not the Law of Moses.

once again, I did not write this letter, John did. if you disagree with his explanation of the commands God expects us to keep, take it up with him. or just admit Hebrew roots is wrong. either is fine.

so what does he mean from the beginnging?

reading them in order has nothing to do with one letter being more important or true the the earlier ones. We are to take the whole word of Yah. and if we do that it is clear He isatalking about the Law of YHWH. you can go Moses mMoses Moses all you want, fact is the Levitical priesthood is gone, YHWH's Law is not and not never dependant on human priests, they are gopne and His Law still stands...

Mat 22:37-40, "Yahshua said to him: You must love YHWH your Father with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. (Deut 6:5) This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. (Lev 19:18) On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

what Law can I break and be guarding these 2?

1st John 3 11- for this is the message you have heard from the beginning , that we should love one another.

stop playing word games, you know what that verse says. and means. stop being misleading and deceptive.

aND WHERE IS IT EWRITTEN TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER? iN lEVITICUS? dO YOU THINK yAH DID NOT TELL MAN THIS FROM THE BEGINNING? Im not being deceptive Yah cammands were from the beginning, if they were not how did satan get banished? if there was no rules anything satan did was ok... yet we know satan transgrerssed becasuse scripture says "evil" was found in satan. "Evil" is a literal hebrew word and it means morally twisted. Scripture says Noah and Abraham kept YHWH's Laws..

Genesis 7:1-2, "Then YHWH said to Noah: Come into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen you righteous before Me in this generation. hoiw was there clean and unclean animals?

Genesis 26:5, “Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my Laws.”

hey man, as I said, John wrote that letter, don't yell at me, yell at him if you disagree. ( I would not yell at the disciple Jesus loved, nor would I disagree with his words, but that's just me).

and then you bring up a verse out of Matthew, then you want to have a discourse on how Abraham obeyed the Law that was not given until 100's of years later.

did God tell Abraham to go, leave his family and homeland? did Abraham go? did God tell Abraham to circumcise his self and the other men. ( I thing taking a sharp rock and doing what they did was a very brave, trusting act of obedience , I would not try to tell him it does not count as obedience, but, again, that's just me.)

so, just keep the random Bible hopping up, i'll keep setting you straight . and proving Hebrew roots as bunk.

I didnt yell, if you thought my caps was yelling that was not my intention, I hit cap lock without realizing, you can see the letters that were supposed to be caps are not and the ones that are not supposed to be are.

also you are ignoring what is written saying 100 years late..

how did Noah know what was a clean animal and what was an unclean animal?

Galatians 3:10-11
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

So if we work at the law in our own understanding and strength we are under the curse. But if we produce the fruit of the Spirit there is no law that can condemn us.

So how do we produce this fruit of the Spirit?

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Galatians 3:13-14

13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Romans 9:30-32

30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Romans 8:1-2

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
