A person is born again at the point of conversion, the Holy Spirit enters their life and writes the law in their mind and places it on their heart God wants to see reflected in their life. Meaning, in their heart they want to live as God desires them to live. So it would be impossible for anyone truly born again person not to care about sin in their life. They would want nothing more than to see victory over their imperfections. You don't concentrate on the law inside of you to evermore live as God desires you to live. You look to Christ and trust Him, and rely on the sanctification of the Spirit. The more believers do this, the more the fruits of the Spirit grow in their life, the more holy a life they live, for against such things(the fruit of the Spirit) there is no law. (Gal5:22&23) However, no believer will ever be perfect in the flesh, and the second part of the basis on which the new covenant stands should always be in every believers heart and mind:
Their sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more.
For Jesus died for our sins to give us a righteousness of faith in him apart from law. It cannot be viewed as a licence to sin by any truly born again believer, for the law is now in their heart, and in their heart they want to follow it, and live as God desires them to live

No believer will ever be perfect according to the flesh (for sin dwells in the flesh of each and every one of us, 1 John 1:8); however I will say that this does not mean that committing sin is inevitable in the life of a believer; for we are not obligated to obey the flesh (Romans 8:12 (kjv, NLT)) and therefore it is possible to walk consistently not after the flesh but after the Spirit for an extended period of time; even for the rest of our lives (Luke 1:74-75).

The law as it is written on the heart and mind of New Covenant believers, is, in my opinion, the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Because through the Holy Spirit, the love of the Lord is shed abroad in our hearts (Romans 5:5); and this love is the fulfilling of the law (Romans 13:8-10, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6; Romans 8:4).

So, the law is written on our hearts and minds inasmuch as we have been filled with the love of God; for that love is the fulfilling of the righteousness of the law within us.

To be honest, I still think we disagree as to who Paul the christian is speaking of, I believe he is speaking of Saul the Pharisee, whereas you believe he is speaking of Paul the Christian. However, your views are not ones that would crush new believers, and I am sure you do not demand of others what you do not demand of yourself, and that is what is important to me
Yes. Paul the brand new Christian leaning on his own knowledge of the Law and trying to follow it.

Just like he warns Christians not to do in Galatians 3, 2 Corinthians 3, and Hebrews 7.

Galatians 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

2 Corinthians 3:5-6
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Hebrews 7:18-19
18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

19 For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

Romans 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

I see too many say "we are not condemned by the Law as Christians so its ok to continue to follow it the best you can". And then they say "Romans 7 is not about Christians. Its about people who try to use the Law for Salvation." I vehemently disagree with that line of thought as Paul obviously does in his epistles as well. Otherwise, you have Paul the Apostle to the Pharisees and not to the Gentiles.

There is the matter of the love of the Lord being shed abroad in the heart of those who are born again (Romans 5:5);

So that the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in them (Romans 13:8-10, 1 john 5:3, 2 John 1:6; Romans 8:4).

If I love my neighbor as myself, I am not going to:

* Commit adultery with his wife;

* kill him;

* steal from him;

* bear false witness against him;

* covet any of his belongings;

or,

* violate any other commandment that concerns my neighbor.

Is that not what Romans 13:8-10 teaches us?

So, then, I am not under the law (Romans 6:14, am dead to the law (Romans 7:4, Galatians 2:19) and am delivered from the law (Romans 7:6) as concerning condemnation;

But as concerning obedience I am under the law to Christ (1 Corinthians 9:21); that is,

the law of the Lord is written on my mind and in my heart (Hebrews 8:8-10, Hebrews 10:16, Romans 8:7, Romans 8:4, 1 john 5:3, 2 John 1:6, Romans 13:8-10; Romans 5:5; 1 john 2:3-6);

In that the love of the Lord is shed abroad in my heart through the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5) and that this love, being not impractical (1 John 3:17-18) is the fulfilling of the righteousness of the law within me (Romans 13:8-10, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 1:6; Romans 8:4).

@Jesusfollower, everything that I wrote in post #5 was substantiated by holy scripture.

Which of those scriptures was it that you disagreed with?

You are not following Christ if you are living in rebellion to the law. You have no faith in Christ if you don't have faith in anything you are told by Christ about how to live in this world.

Christ knew we couldn't keep the law perfectly, Christ does that for us and we are righteous through Christ, not through our own powers. We are only asked to want to obey the law, to repent of any sins we commit.

Righteous living is done through Christ, and we are to have pride in Christ within us to lead us. Christ does NOT lead us to rebellion against the law, Christ leads us to a life living with him, and Christ cannot live with sin. Our sin separates us from Christ.

What leads to death is a lack of true repentance. The sin we want to keep causes our death. Christ wants us to repent of that sin, give it to him and get rid of it with his forgiveness.
Thank you Blik,

You see so clearly through the mist of confusion about the law, it is refreshing and I totally agree.

Thank you!

Hello Justbyfaith,

While i was looking for passages for a reply to your post No.5, i have found a passage that you cannot contradict or deny;

Matthew 5:17-20:
Jesus son of God said: Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. 18For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. 19Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

20For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Also, i found a very interesting article, I encourage you to read it through it is very informative and truthful.

Caution...do not mistake Christ's death on the cross establishing grace from Our Father for sin forgiveness upon repentance.....as a elimination of the law.

If the law has been eliminated...then what gauge do we use to establish rightesnous.
Further, why is there need for unlimited forgiveness of sin?

So, by this you mean to say that the law is not abolished as concerning condemnation, correct?

However, I would say to that that it is not the law that has died, but that we have died to the law, in Romans 7:1-6; so that we are no longer married to the law and so that we can be married to Christ. I will look at your article shortly.

Also, my contention is not that the law is abolished as concerning obedience; but only as concerning condemnation.
